forget first words. do you remember your kids first full sentence?

I asked my folks and they said they weren't keeping track of that for me or my siblings 😞

curious if you remember your kids first sentences when they made the progression from babbling to talking?

my younger cousins would just repeat things they heard my aunt and uncles saying lmao

seen a few posts on wedding subreddits about "so and so wore white to my wedding!" my question: if a guest wearing white to your wedding is seen by you personally as an offense and you're aware they're going against your dress code during the wedding and reception why not ask them to leave?

like, yeah obviously no one's going to mistake them for the bride, but if you're the kind of person who doesn't want guests to wear white to your wedding, why not confront them about it, tell them to leave and change into something else, either you or the maid of honor?

if it's a fear of confrontation I don't get it, it's not their day, it's your day, and yeah some people might not be aware of your preferences and for them I'd give a pass, but I've read stories of mother-in-laws and female best friends and guests of plus ones wearing literal white bridal gowns to weddings and I have a hard time thinking all of them had nothing but good intentions when wearing that to another person's wedding

are you teaching your kids phonics so they have a better chance of being well read?

schools teach sight reading now which as we all know has led to increased levels of illiteracy in kids these days. there are lots of teachers online stating students have trouble reading because of this.

in the 90s which I'm sure a lot of you grew up in, we had hooked on phonics and learned to read phonetically and we are for the most part, able to read and write without major issues.

so if you're a parent with kids at the ages they're starting to read and write, are you teaching them how to read phonetically to fill in the gaps sight reading might be giving them?

trying to find a geno clip

I've looked everywhere with no luck

in the clip he's at a penguins fans family's house to gift them tickets or something and the family tells him the dogs name is crosby and the daughter is also named crosby (what?) and they're outside and jokingly geno hollers "everybody like me! 🗣️" I saw this clip once and have never been able to find it

why are people (on twitter) making a big deal about mack being in boston?

I've seen a few posts of people basically going

"omg mack was in vancouver now he's in boston!"

I don't understand what the hype?

there's a video or an article in an interview I think I don't have access to before the off-season started macklin was asked what his plans were

and I'm pretty sure he said the plan was he would train in vancouver, smitty would join him and the others there for a bit, then he would go to boston to train and hang out with smitty

what's happening now was always the plan I'm not sure if folks missed him saying this

which do you prefer?

story: my aunt was asking her new coworker, whose daughter just had a baby girl, what her daughter and son-in-law named her granddaughter.

the coworker says they named her hadley.

my aunt who is a bit hard of hearing, asked "natalie?"

and her coworker says "nope, hadley"

so I'm curious because apparently the daughter and son-in-law are late age millennials and my aunt is part of the younger end of the boomer generation if age has an influence on name preference

which name do you prefer: hadley or natalie?

and if you want, add what generation bracket you fit in if that influences your preference

do you prefer the summer or winter episodes?

I like the summer episodes for the plot lines however there's something very cozy about the winter episodes

not talking about any specific season of the show moreso the show as a whole
