like counting syllables and what not, do you take the flow of how a name sounds into consideration?

I'm from the generation where every girl got the same two syllables middle name regardless of whatever number syllables first name she had so some girls got pretty flows nicely names and others ended up with clunky sounding names because of that irritating choice our parents made 🫩

do you try to factor the flow of how a name or names sound together when trying to pick names, or does that not matter as much?

so I know a lot of babies will know their mothers as mom, mama, mommy, ma, first, usually because moms are trying to have their babies first word be 'mama' and it's easier to say that than a first name

I'm curious when do you decide to tell your children your first name? I learned my mom's first name right before starting preschool.

like if you laughed it would send the message it was okay for them to do more than once

at my baby cousin's birthday a few years back, when his mom, my aunt, was helping him open his presents, which were mostly toys, she would ask every time he opened a present

"what's that?"

and he was a toddler at this time, every time she asked that question he would loudly answer

"it's mine."

like he wasn't wrong but she wanted him to say what the toys were, lmao

I asked my folks and they said they weren't keeping track of that for me or my siblings 😞

curious if you remember your kids first sentences when they made the progression from babbling to talking?

my younger cousins would just repeat things they heard my aunt and uncles saying lmao

like, yeah obviously no one's going to mistake them for the bride, but if you're the kind of person who doesn't want guests to wear white to your wedding, why not confront them about it, tell them to leave and change into something else, either you or the maid of honor?

if it's a fear of confrontation I don't get it, it's not their day, it's your day, and yeah some people might not be aware of your preferences and for them I'd give a pass, but I've read stories of mother-in-laws and female best friends and guests of plus ones wearing literal white bridal gowns to weddings and I have a hard time thinking all of them had nothing but good intentions when wearing that to another person's wedding

schools teach sight reading now which as we all know has led to increased levels of illiteracy in kids these days. there are lots of teachers online stating students have trouble reading because of this.

in the 90s which I'm sure a lot of you grew up in, we had hooked on phonics and learned to read phonetically and we are for the most part, able to read and write without major issues.

so if you're a parent with kids at the ages they're starting to read and write, are you teaching them how to read phonetically to fill in the gaps sight reading might be giving them?

in the clip he's at a penguins fans family's house to gift them tickets or something and the family tells him the dogs name is crosby and the daughter is also named crosby (what?) and they're outside and jokingly geno hollers "everybody like me! 🗣️" I saw this clip once and have never been able to find it
