Curious to know: how often does felling go... "right"? Like, 99% of the time? And how well trained are more tree fellers for their job? Are most insured fully for when houses are destroyed? Enquiring minds want to know!

Any software/hardware suggestions for heavy computer user with limited hand use?

Hello OTs and much respect for all you do! I know a medical professor whose hand pain is getting worse from injuries (their hobby is horses), surgeries and arthritis--but they're on the computer sometimes 15+ hours a day.
They are trying all VTT options, but seeking the next level of hands-free options for productivity, eg, opening/sending/editing emails, copy/pasting into different programs, even editing images for lectures... what do people use that have no use or limited use of their hands and might it be applicable for a very busy professor with hundreds of medical students?
Thank you!

Seeking computer applications, programs, or devices beyond vtt to help someone with limited hand use. More below…

For a professor w/hand disabilities: what computer applications, programs, or devices are there to help them do (apple) laptop/desktop work w/minimal mouse and keyboard use? Seeking something beyond VTT.

Which NYC restaurants do you go to for ONE THING and why ONE THING only?

And what's wrong with the rest of the menu, if anything?

Who has the best cold sesame noodles in the city since Sammy's closed? (RIP Sammys.)

I'll just mention that I grew up on the UWS 'til I was 13yo and then my mom remarried and we moved to the suburbs of Chicago. I moved back at 18yo and discovered Sammy's soon after and it was a love affair for many years and great lesson that some places are great for ONE THING. Soup Dumplings at Joe Shanghai, roast chicken at BBQ--but not the ribs, whatever.
My mom grew up in the West Village and her parents were from the old country: Brooklyn and Staten Island and she had very strong opinions about restaurants and food around the city, even after she moved to Chicago.
So when she ended up near the end of her life and I would visit from NYC every couple of weeks, I'd always ask if there was ANYTHING I could bring her from ANYWHERE in the world, there was always one thing and one thing only:
"Two large sesamy noodles from Sammy's, extra sauce, no green stuff."
And only occasionally would security take it from me at the airport.

Trying to locate this (likely) super expensive faucet set I saw at the Chelsea Hotel Cafe in NYC. Very heavyweight, opens and closes with a bit of a thud. Been checking Waterworks and other fancy shops, but does this look familiar to anyone here? Thanks!

Seeking the name of an edgy female author of the 80s (and 90s?). In the 1-2pps of her most popular book she writes of a hot guy walking past her in the East Village (NYC) who gives her that look that said, "He would know how to tie me up just right."

EDIT: FINALLY RECALLED IT--darn this old brain pan... Maggie Estep (no "Z", but kinda sounds like Z-step): Diary of an emotional idiot; this was the one book I recall reading by her.

Okay, now to get started on a new irreverent story like the ones I recall by her.
If anyones cares to see my stuff, it's here. Thank you everyone!!

Original lame notes on trying to remember this book and author: Typo/bad edit in my title: it should say, "In the FIRST 1-2 pages of her most popular book..."

I think her last name--forgive me, I'm probably wrong--was a noun and had a Z in it, maybe Laura or Nancy is first name? I'm probably mixing her up with the very tame Laura Zigman though.
I'm guessing the woman I'm seeking out, who sadly died years ago, probably wrote for music rags, but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Dang, I can't believe this author's name is eluding me, but thank you all so much for the suggestions so far. I want to say it's an unusual name, maybe a noun... other folks's names keep making me think of her, like Dave Eggers, Zippo Lighters, Marlo Thomas, LOL.
I hope this gets figured out before bedtime tonight or I'll be wide awake trying to remember it.

Fun fact: A young lady wanted to rent one of my houses in upstate NY and sent an application--and when we met, I recall saying, "That is a very unique last name, I've only heard of one other person with it and she wrote a book I really liked, called _______." And of course it was this author's sister.

I think the author had died right around that time--I'm guessing that was around 2010, but I can't be sure.

A longform story about the work my trained German Shepherd and I did after the events of 9/11. Not an easy read, but maybe a good one for those who want to know about or be reminded of the sights and smells and feel of NYC during that time.

Seeking advice on whether to do solar now or in the future when, I assume, it could cost far more if energy costs rise drastically. Details below and thank you in advance for your input!

Here are the basics, please advise if other info would be helpful:
- 10-15 yrs left on shingles per architect (former owner), 3-5 left per the roofer.
- Solar co plans on 29 panels maybe a few more in small spaces.
- avg bill ~400/mo, cenhud in upstate ny, seems like a criminal enterprise (mostly kidding), absolutely for profit company.
- yesterday rate was 23c kwh.
- we use gas for radiant heat but occasionally/rarely kick on the split units for extra heat on coldest days here in zone 6.
- primary electric use in large well insulated house is 4 split units and two EVs.
- Electric cars changed every 1-3 days, 1k to 1.5k miles driver per month.
- I’m lucky to have three tried and true, well liked and trusted companies for singles, trimming trees, and solar install with one tesla backup battery.
- total for all about 40k. Another 8k if we do the entire roof’s shingles, since there’s a decorative area facing the road that we won’t put panels on. But maybe worth doing all shingles at once.

Only discrepancy: you probably caught that the roofer just mentioned about five yrs left on roof, architect (former owner) said 10-15 based on 25-30yr shingles being done in 2010… maybe i need a third party to examine them.

Otherwise main concern is: is it worth the investment to knock the electric bills down to zero or nearly zero most months, and 50-66% a couple of months while replacing a good roof that doesn’t currently need replacing in the process?

How much should be based on the future of energy and the strait of Hormuz now having an On/Off switch on it by Iran? Am I silly to assume that solar installs may increase greatly in price with demand sure to grow?

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and let me know if any details would be helpful.

**UPDATE: talked to roofer who said it is 3tab which Google shows only has a 15-20 yr life at least with harsh winters. Done in 2010 so roofer is correct, more like 5yrs max so maybe that’s a sign to do the whole roof—and his price is for architectural!**

2.5k trees.
9k roof for area with panels or 17k entire roof.

NEST - battery operated doorbell stops ringing inside the house sometimes. Tried factory reset but the Chime Setting keeps saying it won't work using battery. How else to get it ringing through hubs/speakers again? Thanks!

Our security company set up a 2nd network with the same name - is there a way to try changing the network that the Nest is attached to apart from another factory reset and then seeking out a 2nd "Java Network"? (I didn't notice a 2nd one when I was just reinstalling it all.

Cleaning up boxes of papers in upstate NY and found this card encouraging my parents to come visit in 1994. Signed by Jules, Cathy, Brenda & many others in the old cybercafe.

This was in a box of papers my mom had saved in Chicago that were passed on to me after she passed ten years ago.

Curious to hear from those who've pushed the limits of your Macan EV. More below...

I've not seen this discussed here before: It would be great to hear from those who have (without wrecking) learned things like how hard you can push your Macan EV around corners in the rain... have you opened it up over 120, or 130mph, and where? Have you taken advanced or racing classes?
It seems like it'd be great to learn its limits in a safe environment with experts. Are there such options beyond just bringing your own vehicle to a track?

What song have you played louder than any other on your system?

I'll go first: Earth Wind & Fire's "Sing a Song" is just beautiful at top levels. I've played it at 3/4 on Martin Logan CLX Arts with a Pass Labs 350.8 and REL S812 subs, and it just sounds better and better the louder it gets.
