Advice for my Supergirl fanfiction idea!

I'm planning a fanfiction about where Kara would land on Earth alongside Kal-El. Initially, I was gonna do a type of story where Kara would become a superhero before Kal-El, but...I didn't really have much of a long-term idea for how it'll pan out.

However, I figured I'd make a story about how Kara would adjust to life on Earth, as well as how Kal-El would grow up, conflicted by Kara's teachings of Krypton compared to the Kents' teachings, which would confuse him and frustrate Kara, as it would risk him growing up not truly understanding his heritage. This, combined with Kara's struggles and protectiveness over her cousin, I believe, would make a more interesting story!

Even so, I'm still a bit new to DC as a whole, as I got truly into it thanks to Superman 2025, and Absolute Wonder Woman (who's becoming my favorite superhero as a whole), so I would like some advice on how to do the characters properly, especially Kara/Supergirl, who apparently was mischaracterized in the CW Supergirl compared to her comic book apperances.

Any advice for my idea would be appreciated!

Vent: Am I the only one who, after seeing some "Actual Crazy Haters" post here that understand why Viv responds to criticism the way she does?

(Since both this and the Crazyassvivdefenders subreddit don't allow crosspostings, I'll just reupload here because I wanna know what YOU guys think.)

I saw a post here that shows a fan art of Viv dressed up as Hitler, and how crazy some of Viv's haters can get!

Now, this isn't really justifying Viv's behavior when it comes to responding to criticisms and essentially feeding the trolls (which is one of the few criticisms of her that I agree with), but damn! Like, damn! Has there ever been a creator who has ever gotten a similar amount of hatred?

At this point, I just really feel bad for her. Like I said, she definitely does deserve some criticism, mainly in regards to her writing, but I feel like we gotta draw a line, somewhere. Something I will praise the other subreddit for. At least ya'll ain't r/AntiHazbinHotel. Theey criticize with reason.

Democrats in Virginia Are Fighting to Reinstate Their Map. - YouTube

Honestly, all of this is really good to hear. With how much people doom, it's difficult to remember that people actually WILL fight back legally, especially the Democrats. Even if a more cynical part of me is saying they're doing this to keep power, a hopeful part of me believes this is still a net positive for a lot of people! What do you all think?

Shifting Baselines in entertainment quality lately?

For those who don't know, Shifting Baselines is an ecological term that refers to, in simple words, public acceptance to the declining state of ecosystems, thinking that this one particular forest is diverse now, when it was MUCH more diverse back then.

I'm wondering if a similar thing is happening in entertainment. I've seen some reaction channels watching movies and movie trailers (always cutting them down so as not to play in their entirety, in case anyone's wondering why they're still around, but that's a whole other conversation), and they not only enjoy what they watch, but they also believe them to be good.

Now, I'm not one to judge others for liking movies/shows or tell people to get better tastes; that type of attitude doesn't sit right with me. But even I find it surprising that these people, and by extension, the audience as a whole, find many of these movies to be good when they're...well, not good.

This brings me back to the shifting baseline idea. Do you guys think this is happening in entertainment as well: we're getting so many bad movies or shows that standards are actually lowering to the point where genuinely fantastic movies like KPop Demon Hunters, F1, Top Gun: Maverick, would end up becoming outliers rather than the norm?

Do you guys think Glitch may have bitten off more than they could chew with TADC finale theaters?

I've found a post on the TADC subreddit talking about the situation with Glitch and South Korean theaters being unable to show the finale to TADC, and there are some comments that are saying that Glitch might have realized that this was maybe a bit too big for them. Apparently, they thought they could do what Markiplier did with Iron Lung.

While I don't really care for TADC that much (just not for me), this is still a bit disappointing to hear about, regardless of Glitch's scope intentions. But what do you guys think?

For a while, I have seen many people on this subreddit who do not seem fond of the idea of Queen Hippolyta being the Golden Age Wonder Woman.

I personally don't really mind this, but I'd like to know why this idea is rather mixed in this subreddit, to say the least!

Been a bit since I've shared about my vampire lore for Blood Pack! For anyone who doesn't know, here are some of my posts for reference. If you already know, or if you've caught up, then I'd like to share an interesting piece of lore I've developed that I think is pretty interesting!

The cultural division between the vampires of the Old World and the vampires of the New World!

It all took place during the Dark Wars, which essentially is a war between the Ancient vampires over territory, dwindling food and manpower, and pride. This took place after the Black Death, and this war was devastating for all: humans, vampires, and all other forms of life, both natural and supernatural.

It had gotten so bad that several Elders had grown tired of the constant warfare, and they soon abandoned their Ancient overlords. They would fly across the Atlantic in their true monster forms, passing through ravaging storms and blistering heat for weeks before eventually arriving at what is now South Carolina. There, they would settle and repopulate in secret.

When the Dark Wars came to an end, a secret society developed in the ruins of the Old World as both vampire and humanity recovered from the Vampire Scare (modern scientists call it the Black Psychosis). The New World Vampires would catch wind of this and, instead of re-establishing ties, created their own society. This leads to the creation of two societies that became rivals: The Sanguine Circle in the Old World and the Red River in the New World.

Despite having similarities, there are some stark differences. In most of the Old World, despite the devastation of the Dark Wars, most vampires there still hold onto their beliefs that vampires are above humans to the point where fraternization between both species is forbidden. Initially, the penalty for this was death, but as the centuries passed, this fell out of favor; even now, anyone found befriending humans would be ostracized and become pariahs.

In the New World, while vampires still believe in their supremacy, they are not as open about it, and they tolerate vampires fraternizing with humans, not wanting to risk a repeat of the Dark Wars. Before long, as the 20th century came and went and the 21st century, tolerance became more and more acceptable. Vampire attacks on humans and vice versa still occur, but not to the extent of the Old World. At least most of it.

Nowadays, the world is divided into two, or technically three, sections of overall vampire society: The Old World's Saguine Circle and their beliefs of supremacy, and the New World's Red River and their beliefs of tolerance. There is a third region which has a complicated history: much of East Asia.

In East Asia's case, they did have the same beliefs as the rest of the Old World, but after the 2nd World War and the Allies' victory over Japan, many of the vampires there unknowingly suffered the same as humans, especially in Japan, Korea, and China. Thus, when the US occupied both Japan and what would become South Korea, the New World's vampires would impose their beliefs on the vampire populations there, too. Likely because of the devastation of WW2, which for many, reminded them of the Dark Wars, the vampires opted to abandon their old beliefs and about the Red River's beliefs of tolerance.

Nowadays, vampires of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan have a strong tolerance for bonding with humans like the New World, even if they're technically still part of the Old World's society, hence the complication The Sanguine Circle didn't want to do anything since they didn't want to risk exposing their species again, and frankly, they had bigger issues to attend since this was the Cold War.

And here we are today: The Saguine Circle of the Old World, the Red River of the New World, and the hybrid society of East Asia's vampires.

So what do you guys think of this? Any feedback would be very appreciated!!

I have heard that Komodo Dragons can populate and colonize an island through a version of parthenogenesis, which is when an animal reproduces by themselves. For Komodo Dragons, a single female can produce male offspring, and those males can mate with her to eventually produce a growing population.

Now, I personally think that's a cool adaptation, but I do have a question regarding genetic diversity. Could this affect the fledgling population in the short run, at least?

I was reading this awesome post by u/erikoortin08 that is about the leader of Omsk responding to Samantha Smith's concerns about nuclear war. Suffice to say...it's NOT reassuring.

Samantha Smith, for those who don't know, is a child famous for writing a letter to Yuri Andropov, head of the Soviet Union at that time, and visiting the country, which made her famous and America's Youngest Ambassador.

How do you think she'd fare in the TNO world? I'm sure she also has a desire to avoid nuclear war in OTL, but I'm not sure whether she'd get a similar response when it comes to Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan.
