Bought a used a7 IV off eBay, has a fingerprint on the sensor. What to do?

It doesn't look damaged. Just like somebody accidentally touched it. I don't know if I should return it. Other than that it looks perfectly fine and there's nothing wrong with it. I'm not sure how to clean the sensor so I want to make sure I don't damage it.

What's the most infamous building where lots of people have murdered inside (or similar event on the same scale), but still stands to this day and hasn't been torn down?

I would have to say Dean Corll's storage shed in Houston, TX. They found 17 of his victims there buried under the dirt floor. The photos from the shed are online and I've seen pictures of the actual bodies. I also read it was hell trying to dig out all the skeletons and remains, and they even found the served genitals of one of his victims in a bag. Despite this happening back in 1973 the shed is still standing to this day and being used. They did put in a concrete floor since but it still exists.

I know Sandy Hook was torn down after the shooting, as well as the building where the Parkland shooting happened. Maybe Norris Hall at Virginia Tech? What else other than mass shootings?

Deinterlacing with MPC-BE and madVR?

Hi, I'm dealing with some interlaced MPEG-2 (XDCAM EX 35) video from a Sony PMW-EX3 (and I also deal with other types of interlaced footage like DV and DVD), and madVR isn't deinterlacing it at all. I have to change the renderer to MPC Video Renderer to get it to deinterlace. Does madVR support deinterlacing or not?

What would it feel like to have an icepick driven though your ears and brain?

When reading about the Toolbox Killers, they drove an icepick though the head of one of their victims, going into one ear, through the brain, and out the other ear. There's a crime scene picture of the skill they recovered (the bodies were found months after the murders and were just bones)

Apparently it didn't instantly kill her because they had to strangle her afterwards. My question is what did it probably feel like before they strangled her? Did she instantly become like a vegetable or something before they strangled her? Or is it likely she died instantly from the icepick and they just strangled her to make sure she was dead? Could she have survived and just been a vegetable for the rest of her life?

What is happening with this Certified Mail?

https://preview.redd.it/h39u26gaa99h1.png?width=1290&format=png&auto=webp&s=1bafcf740492421db1ab126b3c9e260b6f402bc9

Hi, I sent Certified Mail with a signature required to someone in Rhode Island, and USPS tried to deliver it on June 18th, but the tracking says "No Access to Delivery Location". I assume nobody was there and they left PS Form 3849? It says they would deliver on the next business day (June 19th) but it doesn't seem like they did. Will it be returned to me as undeliverable?

Blackmagic HyperDeck Shuttle 2 - Red light on SSD

Hello, I bought a used HyperDeck Shuttle 2 from MPB. It will be used with my PMW-EX3 to record in ProResHQ 4:2:2. I've already set the HyperDeck up on my PC using a USB cable.

However, I can not get it to work with any SSD. I have tried three so far, a Crucial BX100 240GB, a SanDisk 64GB (would never use a 64GB SSD but just had one on hand and had to test), and just now a Transcend SSD420 512GB. They just cause the red light to stay on forever. And none of the buttons respond, I can't even try to make a recording or anything.

I've formatted every SSD I've tried as an GPT partition table, with a single exFAT partition. That's what the manual says to do. But it doesn't fix anything.

How do I find out if I have a defective HyperDeck or just the wrong SSD? I'm tempted to buy an Samsung 870 EVO as my next troubleshooting step since it's on the "approved" SSD list from BlackMagic. I would figure at least that it would at least TRY to make a recording on any SSD instead of just failing to do anything. Which makes me think it could be a defective unit.

What should be checked in this circuit (other than the diodes) if R78 is found brunt out and open?

I have this old camera power supply and the +250V output is missing. All the other voltages are reading OK. I found out that R78 was burnt to a crisp and open. I ordered a few 4.7K resistors to replace R78, but I'm wondering what else should be checked to make sure nothing is going to cause another failure. I obviously made sure to check diodes D5 and D6 as well as a few of the capacitors. I'm guessing if R78 is burnt out there is probably another fault somewhere. Is it possible at all for the resistor to go out by itself like that?

Thoughts on "Brooklyn"?

I have been listening to Can't Buy A Thrill and it's pretty good album. But one of my favorite tracks has to be Brooklyn. I love the opening/beginning of the song just before the verse, just makes me think of NYC and the skyline and being on a freeway. I visited NYC last month and while I didn't actually go into the Brooklyn borough (Queens/Matthattan) I couldn't stop thinking about the intro and the song while I was on the subway etc or just in an Uber driving around. It's a great song.

Did I damage the board here with my soldering iron?

I removed this through hole resistor using flux and solder wick. I see this spot where it looks like the soldering iron slightly damaged the board. My iron is set to 600F.

"We need your help with a quick review of your account"

I just sold a $800 video camera using PayPal. I sold the camera via a Facebook group and was talking to the buyer on Messenger. Last night I created the invoice and literally the minute the buyer paid for the invoice this morning, my account got limited.

From the email:

We need your help with a quick review of your account
We strive to provide our customers with seamless and user-friendly payments solutions. Unfortunately, sometimes we can't process activity for a variety of reasons, including local laws, our policies, or the policies of our partner banks and card networks.
Why is this happening?
In this case, we need a little more info about your business. As soon as we receive it, we'll work quickly to let you know whether we can continue to process your account activity.

PayPal asked for the following:

  1. Upload a photo ID
  2. Provide proof of fulfillment
  3. Provide proof of purchase from your supplier
  4. Provide more info on your transaction(s)

I provided all this information to PayPal about an hour ago and they said "We’re reviewing your information and will get back to you regarding the status of (CASE ID) within 3 days".

I also called them and spoke with someone and they said they would "escalate" it.

Anybody has the same experience? How long did it take to restore your account? I figured I would document my experience with this.

Thankfully I didn't ship anything out yet. Am I screwed here? I really need the funds and I don't want to loose my PayPal account since I don't think I've done anything against TOS.

Visiting NYC for the first time solo, any tips?

Hello. I am visiting NYC for 2 days. My flight will be arriving at JFK at 9AM and I plan on taking the AirTrain and LIRR into Manhattan/Penn Station. I do not have a driver's license so I can't rent a car so I am 100% relying on public transit like the subway.

I will be staying at an AirBNB in Union City with some friends and meeting them in the evening. I'm planning on spending most of my time in Manhattan on day 1. I have a few places I want to visit, like a building on 24th Street, 7 Hudson Square (I have a contact who works there and has offered to give me a tour), the 9/11 Memorial, Washington Square Park, and more.

I'm planning on bringing a backpack with my camcorder which I am using to film, and a carry on bag with my clothes and toiletries.

I am wondering if it's a good idea to store my clothes bag in a locker somewhere near Penn Station for the day so I don't have to carry it around on the subway etc. What's the cheapest way to store it for a day?

Also, what's a good idea if I end up getting tired and just need to relax for a moment? Google AI was saying you could go into a hotel lobby or public library to catch a breath but just wanted to verify if that's a good idea.

I'm very excited but also pretty nervous about possible theft. Not worried about violent crime since I've read it's pretty low but just wanted to be safe on my own.

Thanks for any advice!

I solder mostly on vintage electronics so I don't have to deal with lead free solder, and a 600F iron works fine. However sometimes I rip pads; most recently I ripped a pad of an SMD 2N3906 transistor. I have no idea what could have caused this as the iron isn't as hot; I know people usually work at 700F. Could it be I'm putting too much pressure on the board? I am using flux and solder wick.

I've been soldering for almost 5 years but I would still not consider myself an "expert" yet. Though my recent SMD work has me proud of myself, other this pad ripping incident.

I'm new to SMD components and had to replace a PNP transistor. I ended up ripping the pad that is the emitter of the transistor. Is there an easy fix for this? I have no idea what caused this as I had just replaced 3-4 of them without any issue. My iron is only 600F!
