I've actually written a total of 1.5 million over 18 months but the others are just random bits of books 3+ so they don't count. But 1 million across 2 books so far, all finalised and ready for beta reading. Its set to be one of the longest fanfics in the world, probably THE longest if you consider it has a definitive end as opposed to being serialised, so I am super excited to hit this milestone.

Hi all! I am currently writing a 5 million word Astarion BG3 fanfic (to answer your questions - 1. Yes. 2. Yes really. 3. Because I'm insane.) And I want it illustrated, hence I come to you fine people.

**The job:**

**\* You must be 18+.**

**\* You must comment on this post before DMing me or I will report you as scammer and block you.**

**\*** Each book is roughly 100 chapters so 100 pieces. You must commit to at least one book. If you're happy at the end, we can do a second, third, fourth, book together. There are likely 10 in total, but I assume half will be done by my primary artist (see below)

\* You have enormous flexibility in schedule. Ideally I'd like at least one piece a week but if you want to do more, you get paid more. Up to you.

\* Budget is approx $20AUD per piece, with revision charges to be discussed, and a bonus for each book completed. I understand this is not a high cost per piece but it is a large job with flexible terms. I am willing to discuss a slightly higher price if your output and quality is high. So its technically a $2000AUD job, with potential for more.

\* You will be given reference pics and/screenshots to work with.

\* No AI, no anime, no colour (I can tint). Working in Clip Studio Pro is preferred but not required.

\* No graphic nudity or excessive violence. There may be occasional tasteful nudity (boobs and butts) but no penetration or genitals.

\* BG3 fans preferred, you need to prove you can draw Astarion, Tav and the other companions.

\* You dont need to exactly match the existing artists style but they should be compatible.

\* You don't need to read the fic but it would be nice if you did 😅.

Disclosure - I do already have an amazing artist in the form of Kouzaisan (link below), who has made me about 150 pieces so far. But sadly I have increased the length since she began and we've decided its too much for just one person, unless we still want to be doing this in 2036. She will continue to work on the books but I'm seeking a **second artist** to begin work on Book 3. The two of you will not work on pieces together unless she helps you get the characters right.

I have spent a very long time in the mode of "if Mystra has no haters, it is because I am dead." But more recently I've come to view her with more sympathy. So here is my lukewarm defence of Mystra *waves tiny red flag*.

So to recap - shes the Mother of Magic, one of the most powerful Gods in the pantheon. Gale is one of her chosen, and her lover. From his account, the two had a pretty good relationship (just call him the Rizz-ard.)

Gales personality flaw is hubris, or what we might call arrogance, which is why one of his endings is to become the God of Ambition. Mystra knows this and tries to keep him grounded - hard to tell a man who is sexxing up a literal goddess.

In any event, Gale begins asking for more power, even though he's already incredibly powerful. Mystra declines these requests, telling him to be content. Whether she was right or wrong, she does control the weave and tries to keep things in order. Its her whole existence.

Gale then goes in search of a tome that contains a piece of the Karsite Weave, which could destroy the Weave (ie Mystras magic) if it escapes containment. It infects him (the orb), and threatens to blow up unless its plied with magical artefacts. This will destroy the orb, but will also be an explosion big enough the level the city. Mystra is livid, and breaks up with Gale.

Now, in my head canon, Mystra secretly stabilises the orb as a form of tough love towards Gale. As per game canon, he's now got to run around finding magical artefacts to keep it satiated, feeling the weight of it in his chest as a constant reminder of how badly he fucked up. Admittedly this is a little cruel, but its also the consequence of his own actions in defiance of her advice. You cannot just keep pulling people out of messes they created and expect them to care if they get into another one.

The long term goal, I postulate, is to make Gale more humble and aware of his limitations. He is an incredibly powerful man and if he doesn't learn to exercise that power in a responsible manner, bad shit is going to happen. This time, he did a dumb thing that she can fix. Next time, they might not be so lucky. So she's going to let him stew for a bit.

Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation Mind Flayers attacked. Gale is now on the run, infected by a tadpole, and if the tadpole transforms him then the Illithids now control what is at best a nuclear bomb and at worst a way to literally destroy magic.

So when she finds him again (my HC again is that the tadpole severs her connection to Gale like we know it severs Cazador from Astarion), she makes him an offer - find the Crown of Karsus, and give it to her, then she will take the orb away. The crown has the power to make Gale a god in his own right - if he gives it up, he's proved that he has matured. If he doesn't... she has a problem.

Edit - i forgot to mention that shes also content with him committing suicide to stop the brain. While this is a pretty horrible thing to tell someone, consider it in the context of the world they live - if Gale goes boom, he wipes out a city. If the brain takes control, every soul in that city and beyond is fed into a meat grinder. This solves two problems, and also proves that Gale is capable of putting aside his own arrogance and desires for the greater good. Plus - the afterlife exists. He would live on in Mystras realm, and she knows it, and he knows it

... phew.

What do you think? Have I planted the idea that Mystra might not be so bad or do you hate her as much as you always did? My thanks to the Sneaky Penguin in particular, who was the one to convince me that Mystra wasn't quite as evil as I used to claim.

The companions have found the Tollhouse on the Risen Road, but there is no sign of the Tollkeepers, Marten and Vance. Instead, the Tollhouse is occupied by three Paladins of Tyr. Wyll though, is thrilled to learn that they are hunting Karlach, and convinces Tav that they should all team up together to hunt the devil. Astarion though, is less convinced. The Tollhouse stinks, the Paladins are suspicious, and somewhere below their feet is a cellar he's certain has the answers he seeks.

Astarion's eyes danced across black ink on aged parchment, when he spotted the droplet of blood smeared across one page. The page was devoted to some kind of proclamation, the title stating ‘The Creed of the Left Hand’, and he realized it was the oath sworn by Paladins of Tyr when they promised their allegiance to the God of Justice. Almost without his influence, his hands moved to flick back through the book - until he reached the front cover, where the owner had written their name in thick, solid block letters - expecting to see the names of either Anders, Cyrel, or Trynn.

Marten Toll, was what he saw instead.

Did I avoid the spoilers? Good, you've had your chance.

The Emperor being Balduran is a wasted plot point. Nobody really seems to care, and it had no bearing on the story. Wyll in particular idolises Balduran and yet he hasn't got much to say.

Not to mention, but him being Balduran -> enslaved in Moonrise as a Mind Flayer -> frees himself on vibes, I guess -> becomes a criminal ganglord -> captured by Durge and Gortash -> enslaved again to the Elder Brain -> sent out to get the prism -> uses the prism to protect himself -> game begins?

That's unnecessarily complicated. I'm not even certain I have it right. Him starting as just Criminal Guy and then being transformed and sent to get the prism makes much more narrative sense to me without all the excessive details. You can still have the Mind Flayer twist, you can even keep Ansur with a bit of tweaking.

I think with all the last minute changes, they wanted a cool reveal and so they shoehorned in Balduran. Personally, I think that was a bad choice.

Edit - rereading my title, I should have said "choosing a doctor based on their skin colour" - as is it sounds like I'm picking my doctors skin colour 😅.

Personally, I think you should have complete authority to see the doctor you want, for whatever criteria you find important. Especially due to the private and sometimes intimate nature of your dealings with them. If you're black, and you want a black doctor, you absolutely should be allowed to do that with no judgement. If you're white and you want a white doctor, then I see no difference. Or any other combination of traits.

Maybe you feel more comfortable with your own race, maybe you think a doctor of the same faith can better advise you, maybe you have a fear of men after trauma, maybe you believe touching a female doctor on her period makes you unclean, maybe you're intimidated by a good looking doctor looking at you naked. I don't need to understand why you want a certain doctor, and I won't judge you for it.

For example, I'm a woman, and I wanted not just a female OBGYN, but one who had had children. Many other women have said they are more comfortable with a male OBGYN and find them to be more understanding and gentle.

We should all have the right to choose for ourselves, and people shouldn't feel so entitled as to shame us for it.

My mod 'Any Way You Want It' is poised to enter alpha release. At present I am focusing on editing each head for each race so that it displays the correct racial characteristics. Ears mostly, but gith noses and slitted eyes too. Hopefully doing one a day! Vote on who I should do next 🤣.

On release, you'll be able to play and replay cutscenes, including party banter and voice barks, transform characters into other characters (both in the game world and in cutscenes), complete control over cutscene visuals, create your own Instant Origins, customize all NPCs to your hearts content, as well as a variety of slice-of-life tools to enable you to customize your cutscenes ... any way you want it :).
