I mean, this makes sense. David McCormack, the voice actor Bandit, is a musician, and he plays in Custard. So, it's obvious that the band will eventually make a song that will blow up before the movie even shows in theaters.

If they don't, I'm going to be very upset.

I don't know why, but there is something about their chemistry that constitutes my view on Butterfly and Freestyle that I just can't point to. Maybe it's their "ray of sunlight/nonchalant dude" dynamic, but they feel like if this pilot were a show in the 2000s, they would have been the most popular ship in the fandom.

I could imagine reading an unfinished Butterfly x Freestyle fanfic on FanFiction.net, complete with an "I don't own this" disclaimer and an unfulfilled promise for more chapters. I could imagine watching ship art compilations of these two with Colbie Caillat's "Bubbly" (or "Dreamscape" if someone is unlucky enough) playing in the background. I could imagine watching a forum argument unfold over which suits Butterfly better as her boyfriend: Freestyle or the handsome dude that Butterfly had a crush on who appears in one episode and is never shown again.

I could go on, but I feel like the creators unintentionally brought back the "fan-preferred couple" vibes to go along with the 2000s feel of the pilot. If this eventually develops into a full show, Butterfly x Freestyle will be the biggest ship in the fandom no matter what.

Still, they look cute, though.

I'm not sure if it's an American thing or not, but most quiet kids I know of don't appear troubled or anything. They look like a peaceful bunch.
