What can I do at work when I have no work to be done?

I work a 9-5 office job in person M-F. Almost all of my work is reactionary. I typically get my work done by 9:30. We have an open office space and both my bosses/owners sit in the desks right beside me. I’m not supposed to go on my phone or use my work computer for things besides work. I can’t read or craft etc. the expectation is that I remain busy. Literally what am I supposed to do for 7.5 hours? We have a cleaning lady who comes everyday so I can’t just go clean. I have nothing to organize. I do small tasks when I can like take the trash out, restock TP/paper towels, restock drinks in the fridge… but those don’t need to be done daily. Literally what am I supposed to do- sit here and click around on word documents for 8 hours?

My bosses are fully aware I don’t have much to do. Sometimes they give me the option of leaving early but I’m paid hourly so that’s not always a good choice for me. I’m genuinely asking wtf am I supposed to do besides look for another job (which I won’t be doing so please don’t suggest it)?

My neighbor’s 2 dogs are untrained, what can I do?

(For some context, I own a condo that has an HOA)

I moved in two years ago, and literally since day 1 this neighbor has been a problem. She has 2 gorgeous Aussie Shepherds but it is incredibly clear they are untrained AND bored out of their minds. They don’t get near enough stimulation. I almost never see her take her dogs with her when she leaves, and she walks them 2-3x a day in our small grass area by the pool. That’s it. Not to mention she’s incredibly rude and disrespectful towards neighbors as well. There have been multiple times I’ve woken up to her dogs barking and chasing each other outside at 2AM OFF LEASH, while she’s chasing them around trying to corral them. She also consistently lets them bark and bark and bark all hours of the day. There has been at least one instance I’ve witnessed where her dogs attacked another dog and she got pissed at the other owner and they got into a screaming match at 7AM. He called the police and animal control on her. She frequently walks them around off leash as well during the day even though they run away from her and cause trouble. I’ve also seen she has a cat that she leaves on her balcony (without protection from falling) for hours at a time at night. I know this because I can hear the cat howling to be let in and I’ve walked out to investigate to make sure the cat wasn’t in danger.

Ive spoken with another neighbor of mine who has lived here longer than me and she said she has had the cops and animal control called on her multiple times and they just… don’t do anything?? This behavior is not new. She has been reported to the HOA and they don’t care either. It’s ridiculous and she is a literal menace to all the other tenants. If police, animal control, AND the HOA won’t do anything… literally what are my options here?

Help me find a humidifier from the 2000s-2010s!

It was silver, square, and had a hole in the middle like a donut! I really loved this humidifier and would like to purchase another one for my home now that I have adult money. Located in the US!

I always feel ashamed and guilty after being vulnerable

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for a few months now. We have known each other for a few years, though. He knew me well enough prior to dating, but of course, we have become a lot more knowledgeable about each other since dating. I have started to open up to him about how my brain works, why I arrive at conclusions the way I do, therapy techniques, etc. Just trying to help him understand that sometimes my brain is just fucked up and even with all the therapy I’ve done, sometimes it’s really fucking hard still.

For example, the other night, I was explaining my train of thought when I felt rejected and abandoned when he had fallen asleep before our goodnight call three nights in a row. I wasn’t mad at him, he had good reason, but my mind and body still felt abandoned and it hit me really hard. I explained that it’s not his fault and just what that though process usually looks like for me so he can understand the cycle and what I’m doing to prevent it or cope on my own. He was glad I communicated and we had a nice conversation and both felt more understood by the other.

I felt okay about it until a few hours later I started thinking about it more and more until I made myself feel incredibly ashamed that I shared that much information with him. I started thinking he’s going to think i’m crazy, i’m oversharing, he doesn’t need to know this, this isn’t what he signed up for, it’s my burden to bear, maybe i’m abusing him by trying to excuse my shitty behavior and overreacting, etc etc. In these moments, I feel so guilty. Like by sharing these things, I’m asking him to take the emotional weight off my chest and bear it for me. It makes me sick.

My (25F) boyfriend (27M) of a few months is more introverted than me

I have been friends with my boyfriend for multiple years before we started dating. We have never been super close and talked all the time, but we would hang out at the same parties and play games online together occasionally. Earlier this year we started hanging out alone more often and started dating. He’s great, nothing wrong with our relationship… besides one thing. He’s incredibly introverted. I didn’t know to what extent before because he always seemed to like being social going to parties and such so I didn’t know. But he almost never talks to anyone besides his family (he’s gotten better since we have been together) and he once went 8 months without even texting his best friend. He said he is used to spending most of his time at home because any social interaction makes him very anxious. It wouldn’t seem like it because he’s great at talking to people and very likeable, but he gets exhausted after any social interaction.

I’m not an extrovert by any means but I am definitely someone who could spend every day with him and not get exhausted. He has told me that he really values his alone time and so far we have really only been seeing each other once a week, which is starting to grate on me. I have asked if we can hang out more and he says between work and his other obligations (he is very busy to be fair) that he really values the little alone time he does get.

I find myself feeling jealous when my best friend and her boyfriend hang out almost everyday. He wants to be around her so much that he goes to her work with her while he does his work. I want my boyfriend to feel that way about me, too. :( I really care for him but I don’t know how long I can do this. This is supposed to be the honeymoon stage and I already feel like he barely wants to hang out with me, what if it just gets worse? Is there anything we can try, or anything I could say to him? I don’t want him to change and I still want my needs met somehow…

Old notebook - what does this say?

I made a post here a couple weeks ago asking for a transcription of an excerpt from this notebook. We cleaned out an old coworkers desk who left months ago and found this notebook. She has lost touch with everyone, changed her number, and can’t find her social media. Her notebook seems to have sad things written in it. Please transcribe this? I can read most of her writings but some are too messy for me to interpret.

Recovering addicts aren’t owed forgiveness

I understand addiction is a disease, but if someone does something horrible to someone, or multiple people, because of their addiction, they shouldn’t expect forgiveness when they get sober. I see so many people online say to forgive addicts to help them in their recovery, but that completely discounts the awful shit they’ve done to their loved ones or even strangers. I think they should be afforded the opportunity to apologize and atone for their mistakes, but they shouldn’t have the expectation that they are owed forgiveness from anybody.

How to access Hyland Hills golf course?

I wanted to catch the City Park firework show at the Hyland Hills golf course as there is a great view from one of the holes. I see online that it’s open for walking/jogging and such after hours, but don’t see any public access from the neighborhoods on the satellite map online. Does anyone know where I would go to get access to the course from the Hyland Greens neighborhood?

Are the games faithful adaptations?

I saw there are a bunch of Nancy Drew games on Steam, but are they faithful to the books? I’ve been a little sad by the lack of faithful adaptations of the books so far in the shows and movies. Are the games any better? And what would you recommend I play if I want the most faithful to the book? Thanks!

Dream with an anime-esque plot? What could this mean?

Okay, excuse the bad grammar and some weird wording at times. I copied this straight from my dream journal that I wrote this in as soon as I woke up.

“two brothers went to a big disguise store that had a huge park in it like urban air park. the older brother got lost and disappeared. he came back years later and barely any time had passed for him. he was transported to this world where he was on an island made entirely of trees and the human race lived in them. The first thing he saw when he woke up there was a giant fat man that had been cooked like a chicken and had his head cut off. even tied up like a thanksgiving turkey and naked roasting on a spit. so the people lived in the trees and each level up was better than the last but worse than the one above it. one level always had urine rain, another just constantly had bodies falling all around as the trees got thinner and it got higher. but he kept persevering and eventually got to the highest level and was able to make it back to our world in time to meet his younger brother on his death bed and tell him of this journey.”

What in the world could this possibly mean for me? It literally sounds like the plot of an anime or something.

I had a dream I died

In this dream, I was with an old friend of mine who I haven’t seen in years. She randomly shot me straight through the middle of my forehead. The perspective shifted to me watching myself fall to the ground and die. All of a sudden, I’m in what I can only describe as a void. Just complete nothingness. Not black. Try closing one eye and focusing on what you “see” out of the closed eye. It’s not black, just nothing. Thats where/when/what I was.

I was overcome with contentment, joy, and peace. The most amazing feeling overcame my body that I can’t quite describe other than complete and total bliss, but I wasn’t conscious of the feeling. It just…was. Like it had always been, and always will be. I’m not sure how long I was in this state, but I woke up and immediately felt dread and extreme sadness. I felt like I had been dumped back on this plane of existence and it was punishment. It genuinely ruined my day. I’ve never felt anything like that before, and every time I go to sleep, I hope I experience that again. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Feel like a burden to my partner

I’ve been dating this great guy for a few months now, and we have been friends for a few years prior. I really care about him. I feel like my mental illness controls too much of my life for me to be a good partner to him. Lately, I’ve been having thoughts about suicide, but I keep thinking how selfish that would be to do to him. At the same time, I think it’s selfish for me to stay in a relationship that I know will wear on him. I am in therapy, have been for years. I have come a long way, and actively work to be better every single day. I use my coping skills, I fight against the bad thoughts, but there are still days where they win and I just… can’t.

Nothing makes me happy, but he’s the closest I’ve gotten. Yet, I still want to commit suicide. There is something fundamentally broken in my mind, that nothing can fix. I know I’m a burden. I know I’m a lot. Sometimes I think the pain of me committing would be easier for him to handle than the pain of dealing with me or having to dump me because I’m too much. I just want to disappear and pretend I never met him so I can kill myself in peace.

Want to lose weight for my partner

I was doing very well at losing weight last year. I lost around 40 pounds and was super proud of myself and way more confident. I then had an extreme mental breakdown, and had to go on new medication which caused me to gain it all back + 10 pounds. I’ve started dating this guy, a friend who I’ve known for 4 years now. He’s seen me through all my weight changes and always thought I was beautiful no matter my weight. He loves me for what I look like now, but that makes me want to lose weight even more. I don’t want him to be judged by his friends/family for dating a fat girl. I want him to be proud of me. I want to be able to have more stamina for the bedroom, to fit into his arms easier…

To be honest, I wish he was more adamant about wanting me to lose weight. It would light a fire under my a**. But because he loves me for me and not my body (even though he constantly gives me compliments and tells me how sexy and beautiful he finds me), I feel like I don’t *need* to lose the weight.

I’ve quit taking the medication that made me gain it all back, and I’m going back to my other med that helped me gain motivation- not pounds. I’m hoping I can get back in my routine from last year and build a better me for the both of us!

Where do I put stuff???

I love living alone but I’m started to get stressed out by having no clue where to put things. I have general storage for the bigger things and categories (towels, washrags, clothes, dishes, cat food, human food, books, trinkets etc.) but no idea what to do with the random one off items that aren’t decorative but serve a purpose. For example, I have a steamer but no room to put it in my laundry area, a handheld portable fan, extra lamps, paint cans, extra lightbulbs, cat carrier…things like that. I have a 2bd 2ba apartment but my second bedroom is my office space. I’m using the closet in there to store gift wrapping supplies, and crafting supplies. How does anyone know where to put random things???
