Quick question about keeping gloves clean

New to boxing so forgive me. I train 3-5 times a week and after a workout I keep my gloves open so that they can air out, always. I’ve been wondering what’s the best way to “clean” them out. Should I use an antibacterial spray, antibacterial soap and water? Is there a special product made for gloves? Or is airing them out enough? Thanks

TIL that your oops is not just food waste, but the oops of your inner organs. So you oops the oops that your organs oops, too. No oops.

i do not eat much, just once a day (usually keto but low fat) but I oops a lot, so i looked up why. turns out, your organs produce a lot of waste because it too needs to clean itself out, so when you oops it’s not only food but a large part of it is made up of dead cells and gut bacteria. i had never thought about it before but i thought it was kind of cool that your insides (organs) oops too. i laughed at the image of my liver running home because it refuses to oops at work. if anyone has any “did you know” informations about the inner workings of the body, i’d be stoked to read them. thanks.

The periodic table and dating

Hear me out. I was doing a refresher YouTube course of the periodic table when I remembered how elements want to be like their nearest noble gas. An element will either give up or add an electron to get as close (resemble) as possible to its neighboring noble gas, and it made me wonder, “hey man, is this what we mean when we talk about having chemistry in dating?” What if having chemistry/harmony with someone occurs when we can match the number of each other’s electrons without having to give up too much? What if our chemical goal is simply just to neutralize one another thus leading to becoming “fat and happy”? For example, sodium is a giver and it has an atomic number of 11 and 1 electron in più (I forget how to say “in più” in English), meaning that it would be easier to drop an electron to resemble neon which has 10 than it would be to find più 7 to match argon. And then there’s chlorine, which is a taker. It has an atomic number of 17 which means it would only need 1 electron to resemble argon (18), which is a helluvah lot easier than grabbing 7 to be like neon. What if the human chemical makeup functions the same way when “deciding” who you have chemistry with and not? What if it’s more scientific (the illusion of choice) than it is actually making a choice? Anyway, it was just a thought. What do you think?

A rare success story…kinda

We matched and like always (though not often), if the initial conversation has some spark, I propose a meet up at a cafe and she happily agreed. Luckily, the chemistry was real and we just picked up from where we left off online: joking, followed the flow of conversation, nothing was forced, no pressure to be and appear as anything other than who we are; and as an added bonus, the moments of silence weren’t uncomfortable and neither of us felt we needed to fill it just for the sake of it. The rest of the meet up wasn’t planned. Even though this wasn’t supposed to be a “date” date, we ended up taking a walk through a park. We exited at the far end of the park and stumbled onto a little festival happening, so we attended - carpe diem, right?

There was music, beer (neither of us drink), dancing and a few make shift carnivalesque games (neither of us won anything); we had fun, we felt a little closer. After that, we picked up some irresponsibly expensive tacos (7€ a piece! What?!) and then she had to go home to take her dog out. I didn’t want to say bye, so I had an idea “how about we take the dog to the beach?” She thought about it for a second and was on board. I accompanied her back to her place, but I didn’t go inside. She came out with the weirdest mix of a dog I had ever seen, I don’t even remember the breeds, but he was a sweetheart. We went to the beach, relaxed for a few hours, and once the day was over I accompanied her home, and again, I hesitated to say bye. The pull was magnetic, she lingered, I gave her a kiss and then asked to see her again. She smiled, said she had a great time and kissed me goodnight.

I haven’t heard from her since, it’s been about a month. Part of me feels like it’s better this way, our seemingly magical moment won’t be ruined by the politics of relationships. Another part of me wonders “what if?” Whatever the case, it was the best date I’ve ever had through an app, probably ever.

My phone chargers found me but didn’t bring the receipts

Over the past year I’ve lost and replaced my phone charger at least 5 times. Yesterday while looking for my external hard drive, I found all of the “missing” chargers…now I have one phone, 6 chargers and minus 100€.

How common is it where you live that women get “work” done to their bodies?

I’d like to start by saying that this isn’t a post about bashing anyone who chooses this path, there are a lot of personal reasons why this choice is made, so my stance is ultimately “do what’s best for you.”

Where I live I’ve been noticing it more and more, from locals and tourists, and from younger women; and because I’ve seen so many women like this (national and international) and this observation has created a curiosity about the prevalence of “having work done” in different countries. I know that there are plenty of people who have had work but it’s not noticeable, and that mixed with the ones that are noticeable, I ask myself “how soon before this becomes the new standard of beauty?” Will this be something that people will just have to get used to or will the opposite always be dominant, even if marginally?

So again, how common is it where you live that women (even men) get “work” done to their bodies?

Has love bombing become normalized or am I too slow?

I wonder if love bombing happens far more frequently than I’ve imagined. I’m a very reserved person so I really take my time when courting a woman, meaning I’m very intentional when deciding how quickly and how far I’m going to go with someone. That said, I must admit that I’ve gotten a recurring complaint about my approach, which is: “I don’t feel like you like me.”

From my perspective, I feel like asking a woman out, maintaining a reasonable amount of communication (not everyday), showing interest in her interests, and being cool if she needs/takes her time to get back to me is an adequate amount of “liking” but I could be wrong; and it did make me wonder: Are women often love bombed? Are they love bombed so much that it’s become normalized and thus expected in order to make them feel desired?

Admittedly, I will not shower a woman I barely know with gifts, compliments and constant attention; I value space (mine and hers). I don’t rush to get into the bedroom, heck I don’t even normally kiss on the first date, so it could be that maybe I’m not doing enough. Is my approach just inadequate or has the game been altered to the point where everything has been sorts sped up?

4 times the Odyssey

Each of the 4 times I’ve been invited to go I’ve had to pretend it was the first time I’ve seen the film, otherwise they (my friends) would have complained. My acting (or at least my fake surprise) has gotten good enough that I feel I could have definitely been cast in the film 😜. At least it’s an enjoyable watch.

If I eat lactose free cheese and then immediately have regular creamy delicious ice cream, would the enzyme in the cheese protect me from the lactose in the creamy delicious ice cream?

Bus police

Nearly two months ago I suffered an ACL injury, it’s partial and while surgery is recommended there’s a chance it may not be necessary, granted I take the right steps. Apparently I’m a coper. When the swelling subsided, I began physical therapy and strengthening of the hamstrings and quadriceps. One day while on the bus, I got up for a woman only to be rewarded with another woman, who preferred texting over holding the hand rails, falling backwards onto my knee - from zero, once again. She didn’t even ask if I was ok. “Never again, not before I’m better,” I vowed.

Fast forward.

I’m back on my feet. PT, strengthening, stationary bike, able to walk without crutches; but on days like today where I push it too much, my knee gets tired.

Moving tenderly, I climbed onto the bus and sat in the free seat. A few stops later, two ladies got on and after a couple stops they passively aggressively berated me for not having gotten up - everyone is staring at me, I’m staring at them, they refuse eye contact. I doubled down. Not sure if I as was wrong but self preservation with a splash of ego glued me to the seat. The nerve…whose nerve? Not sure. Maybe all of ours.

How much has media shaped your (people’s) idea of what romance looks like, and if it has, how has it been more detrimental or beneficial to you?

Ive been thinking about relationships (amongst other topics), imagining them and what a pleasant one looks like and beyond my own, which is limited experience, i have been imagining that which I’ve seen and heard through media (film and music). Beyond that, I’ve recently spoken to a friend who states the fairytale type of romance that she wants, and even she referenced a film which led me to the question. How much freer (or not) would we feel? Or how much healthier (or unhealthier) would our romantic pursuits be if we didn’t have the influence of media showing us what it looks like?
