Is radio a good idea?

I got a radio 2 days ago and instead of scrolling i’ve been checking out the music on FM and seeing if there is anything interesting to listen to on AM while eating, but idk if it’s any better than spotify or podcasts? This is my first ever radio, i’ve never used it before
It’s also an mp3 player

Finding friends in male dominated hobbies (need advice)

I’m into hiking, photography(? not sure if this is male dominated, i do it solo and never checked out any online communities) - specifically plane spotting and landscapes/nature when in comes to photography, video games, TTRPGs, science fiction.

An important aspect of hobbies for me is socialising with others, but since it’s all so male dominated, I am a bit intimidated.

I am wondering which of these hobbies at least tend to trend toward having more “chill” people / a bit more women rather than tending to have misogynists. And any personal experiences.

I also want to try out ice hockey, skateboarding/roller skating, and i want to get more into aviation i think.
How do those hobbies fare? Looking for general anecdotes.

Also I am aware a lot of the time, even if women are interested in these hobbies they tend to get intimidated due to misogyny etc, I am one of them. But I want to be part of the change.

I really feel like I wasted 4 years of my life on a useless degree🫩

I majored in biochemistry, the reason I went into it is because I thought maybe I would go into academia/research or something. But the more I progressed into the degree, the more I realised I don’t really want to do that. I just want a normal regular career. Looking at potential careers I want, I could have literally been qualified for them in 1-2 years. Now I’m 22, in debt, no freaking clue what to do with my degree, and no relevant job experience.🫩 I’m thinking of going into like, water quality testing or something? But I didn’t need a whole ass degree for that in the first place, I could have literally taken a 1-2 years course. When I try explaining this to my parents they don’t get it. I swear their mindset is stuck in the fricking stone ages (well, the 20th century, but still..) god gen X/boomer parents really just don’t get it do they.😐

I’m starting to hate the process of making art

I hate how time consuming it is.. and how it requires you to sit down for hours on end.. like today the weather is so amazing outside but I’m stuck indoors for fucking hours bc I have something I need to finish

How can you figure out if you are a gnc woman vs nonbinary?

My feelings on gender are complex.. I’d say I don’t really get the “concept” of gender like what it even is or what it’s supposed to feel like? I find myself often wishing for a world where sexual dimorphism and misogyny didnt exist, and where people aren’t treated differently or held to different standards based on gender, like, I wish I could just act like whatever and not have to fit or be boxed into certain social categories because of gender. But obviously that cant happen in today’s world, in reality women are physically different from men, and women will be treated differently/seen differently and so will men, and that so that mismatch makes me unhappy.. Maybe it sounds wrong, but I wish gender didnt exist because I don’t understand it

Why are people saying women cant be pilots in the big 2026

I’m tired of ts🫩🫩Like seriously can we stop with the gender wars and gender hate already omfg. Anyone flying a whole ass plane has 100% of my respect, it has nothing to do with gender. I think all pilots are awesome

why the fuck are people so mean when i don’t dress feminine/wear makeup?!

I’m so fucking sick of this!! Seriously sometimes I just wanna throw on a hoodie and pants to go grocery shopping, I don’t wanna be dressed up for every little thing!!?

Like last time, I was bagging my items at the supermarket A LITTLE slower than usual maybe cus I was tired, and the cashier said “Can you hurry up we are near closing time..” I look on google and the closing time is 30 mins away? And there was no one behind me either?

And today I was crossing the traffic lights, and I wasn’t even walking slow I was walking normally and this old lady literally pushed me forward and said “hurry up i havent got all day..”

I’m so sick of being a woman.. this is why i just stay inside, I hate how i have to dress pretty just to be respected as a human being

Really having trouble writing with the state of the world

So my fav genes were (and still are!) stuff like dystopian, post apocalyptic, etc, think stuff like fallout and cyberpunk 2077. In my previous worldbuilding stuff I loved exploring things like pandemics, facism, climate apocalypse etc, you can probably guess where this is going right?

The speculative feels not so speculative right now, and I’m having trouble coming up with something truly out there.
I’ve thought of embracing this to be honest, like making a sci fi world where it’s more “slice of life,” and the whole point of the story is that it’s set in a “parallel universe/another future timeline not so dissimilar to ours .. but I don’t know if people wanna read it? I mean if the whole point is relatability why not just set it in our world right? I think I just like the “similar, but different” trope which is why i still like cyberpunk 2077 but yk that was based of media from decades ago so. I don’t know if it’s still compelling.

An alternative would be to maybe write a slice of life world that’s just “normal” rather than a dystopia, so due to the current times it becomes speculative? But I can’t think of many sci fi ideas that’d fit that.

I’ve also thought of, making the story start off dystopian but you see a revolution take place and the society reforms itself. But yk revolutions are messy and, I don’t think I wanna write a story where that’s the Entire Plot, like I wanna write about other topics. I don’t know.
I’m so creatively blocked right now.

I kind of hate having female body and idk how to cope.

I just hate how naturally weaker we are than men, strength based and even stuff like running speed, it’s so exhausting .. I feel so embarrassed about my body, that I’m “thin” and everyone acts like I should be happy with it cus it’s the beauty standard , well fuck that, in reality I wish my arms werent so thin and i’m embarrassed of my small hands too cus it makes it harder to grip stuff/inconvenient for some tasks cus everything is built to a man’s hand size.

Ive been wanting so hard to be athletic but I feel so discouraged and ashamed of my body .. the only sport i feel not so embarrassed of my physical ability is ice skating but public sessions are kind of expensive

cooking as a single person has the worst reward to effort ratio

it took me 15 mins to make an egg wrap (INCLUDING washing up etc) and the whole thing was gone in 1 min.

this is why my ‘healthy’ eating consists of microwaving vegetables and canned fish🤦

Is ssb worth it? Total beginner here

I’m a total newbie, basically never listened to radio before but I am really curious what is out there. I’m looking for interesting things to tune into and listen, was wondering if ssb is worth the extra money? I was thinking of getting Xhdata D-808. Otherwise I can just get a cheaper model without ssb

edit: I’m in australia if that’s relevant

I know nothing about radios but I’m suddenly intrigued.

I was using my new digicam I think and thought it’s so nice to just focus on the art of photography without the notifications/constant looming distractions of a smartphone, then I thought it’d be nice to just listen to something without an algorithm or constant distraction to really focus on writing and drawing which I enjoy as hobbies but have trouble staying focused on. Also i’ve never used the radio and i’m honestly just curious what even is in there. Is it worth looking into this more? Where do I begin?

edit: I’m thinking of getting xhdata d-808 but i don’t know if ssb is worth the extra money? cause otherwise i can just get an xhdata without the ssb

How do you cope w genuinely being a tomboy?

I tried at certain points to ‘embrace my feminity’ etc but after a while it just started making me feel uncomfortable with myself like I was just pretending to be someone i’m not. I used to think I have internalised misogyny or something, but when I tried to get into more ‘feminine’ hobbies i started feeling depressed cus I realised they don’t give me the same happiness or excitement of my original interests that are traditionally seen as more ‘male dominated’ ig. Like an example is skateboarding which I gave up but honestly I miss it a lot, I also felt lonely cus I couldn’t find any other women that enjoy it :(

Other stuff like video games andd ttrpg seems to be having more of an equal split of genders these days (less so for ttrpgs though) though still..

So yeah idk what to do. Tl;dr was tomboyish, thought maybe i had internalised misogyny so i tried ‘embracing my feminity’ but it just made me feel kind of sad and uncomfy. Idk. But I am also kind of sad being a tomboy cus it gets lonely so.. I don’t know what to do.. if it wasn’t lonely i’d be genuinely happy I think :/

Suddenly seeing a whole bunch of musing on insta about “bringing children into an uncertain world”

I’m sorry but like. The signs were there *years* ago. When I was much younger(i’m talking 2017) I was ambivalent on kids, I didnt particularly want them, but sometimes thought it’d be kind of cute to raise a family when I’m in my 30s. Then I started noticing the trajectory of the world many years ago, and eventually felt like the best thing I could do for my kids is to not have them. Unless I/We step up and let go of our individualism and truly protest to make the world a better place for future generations.

But it’s just stupid, like, NOW you’re noticing?? Now? Only after a literal road melting heatwave? Only after first world countries are affected?

How could you be so ignorant of all the warning signs and red flags beforehand? Like come on. Musing about this at THIS point doesn’t come off as contemplative or deep, it just comes off as whiny and ignorant. Too late..

Is anyone else trying to get back into interests/hobbies they abandoned because it wasn’t seen as “for girls?”

Really want to hear others experiences! Esp with hobbies/interests they used to enjoy as a kid. I’m 22 and I’ve been thinking a lot about the stuff I abandoned because it wasn’t seen as “for girls..” But I really want to turn that around and stop caring about some societal expectations.🙏 The ones I can think about off the top of my head are trains(and transport in general) and skateboarding🥲.(although I may be a bit too old for the latter? I don’t know ^^”…)

Being happy feels like an active effort now.

The world nowadays feels like such a shit hole.. just way more visible racism and misogyny wherever you go. whenever I was depressed during my teens I’d maybe go in the internet or something and be cheered up instantly by something silly, now online culture is straight depressing and irritating too,and dumbass unfunny incel terminology like “mogging” is now mainstream.

I have to actively curate my life to feel any semblance of happiness now, basically actively focus on things that make me happy and ignore everything bad going on in the world. Then I step outside, and realise the deciduous trees where I live still have their leaves in winter.. then I feel sad all over again and guilty for ignoring everything bad..

I genuinely don’t think I have it in me anymore.

i might be gay

i’m 22 years old and never dated.
i’m literally a chud. and no one has ever shown interest in me. and i always thought i was asexual or something. but even that label felt wrong, and the idea of a (hetero) relationship, as i imagined it, always felt wrong to me. suddenly after some self reflection, i have come to the realisation, i think i might be gay… fml. i don’t know what to do now..

I just can’t come up with a simple premise.

I love worldbuilding, and I love making characters. I’ve wanted to make comics since like forever, but every worldbuilding project I do ends up being convoluted (i tend to do sci fi, maybe this is the nature of sci fi?) without a clear, marketable “hook,” basically it has story potential but would require a much more experienced writer that already has a following to make it work.

I want to come up w something simpler but with a clear hook, and more character driven to test the waters.. But honestly I can’t come up with it, I don’t know where to find inspo. I’m used to making all sorts of wacky sci fi ideas which can be interesting but requires like, tons of lore and context for the audience to care, more suited for a larger project basically rather than a simple “testing the waters” comic

I feel awful about my cooking.

Every time I talk to my parents, they ask me what I’m cooking, and judge me for using frozen vegetables instead of fresh and using a microwave etc or just chucking rice in a rice cooker and using canned beans instead of soaked.. The truth is I just don’t have motivation to make elaborate meals involving several pans etc. I feel like I’m not a real cook tho if All i do is chop up some onions into a pan and dunk frozen vegetables in, and bake potatoes in a microwave rather than an oven. Esp living in a sharehouse where I have to haul all my kitchen supplies upstairs and downstairs. The last time I bought fresh vegetables I had to force myself to eat half spoiled spinach so it wouldn’t go to waste. I feel like an awful cook though and like I’m shit at taking care of myself. Then I see all those insta reels of people making elaborate meals and shittng on those who use seed oil cause it’s cheap. I hate this sm. I can’t afford to accidentally waste fresh vegetables and then starve bc i have nothing else in my fridge. And I don’t know where I can find motivation to chop up a whole cabbage🫩I wish I was better at this living alone thing
