[Fit Check] Is this Freya Viva 28H better than the Cleo Blossom 30GG?

Hello again! Apologies for my weekly postings as I try to trial and error this quest for a bra that fits post-hysterectomy. I am back with another fit check, and will link to prior Fit Checks too. My main issue is that in most bras I've ever worn, the fabric—not the wires—are cut too wide for me and the side support and straps cut into my underarm and shoulder as I have very narrow shoulders. I also need a ton of immediate projection.

My original post with my measurements was asking if any of what I had ordered might not fit before I ordered it. The orders have now started rolling in.

All of the links are protected and the pw is the style name (or in the case of Jewel Cove, the first word of the style name) all in lowercase. I kept getting creepers follow me(!!) on imgbb so now this is what I have to do…

  • Freya Viva in 28H - the band feels firm, not tight; it feels like that strips of lace along the top of my boob is cutting into it a bit, but I don't mind it much. The wires feel very wide, and there's a difference in wrinkling if I life my arms or not. Is there sufficient projection? Is the band too tight?
  • Cleo Blossom in 30GG - this feels like it fits when I'm on day 1 of my cycle, then in later days both the cup and the band feel not as supportive as I want. They're sold out of 28H or I'd just go get that, but you guys also said the band looked too tight (even though it feels like in a month it'll be too loose). This is the only bra I've ever tried with sufficient immediate projection.
  • Parfait Elissa bustier in 28G - this was comically bad, as discussed in this post
  • Freya Jewel Cove swim in 30H - this is from the same post as above, the wires were wide but ok, but the fabric itself was murdering my arm/shoulder because the straps were too wide-set.

Today the Cleo Asher and Freya Hallie are coming. After seeing how the Viva is, I'm worried they might be even less forgiving along that top of boob space.

But between the Viva and the Blossom, is either better than the other? Both bad? Both ok but not great?

Currently the only boob support that fits my size is the Panache Marianna bandeau bikini top so I'm desperate for a bra that fits close enough.

Thank you!!!

36F Boston birthday wish: he who feels like home, anywhere

Tomorrow is my birthday (37!) and I’d love to start my next solar rotation with a new connection. :)

I’m a complex and uncomplicated late-thirties woman who knows who she is and what she wants. I value community, clarity, and authenticity above all else. My energy is warm and all-encompassing; I need someone grounded and steady, who can remain true to himself and not lose sight of his own needs in my presence.

A performer by trade, I crave a partner who can be both my biggest fan and my muse. But he should also be the one I can stop performing for: the one I take off the mask around and am completely naked/vulnerable with.

I’m fairly extroverted (ENFP), but my energy gets seriously drained by prolonged exposure to extroverts, so I am absolutely looking to partner with someone more introverted

I have a very precise, direct way of speaking, and delivery too blunt for men who prefer women engrained in apology culture. Maybe it’s because I didn’t get a cell phone til college, but I sound like a robot @$$hole over text, so I prefer calls by a landslide. And in the occasional silence, with the right one, it shouldn't feel awkward.

I have strong intuition which I trust implicitly. I follow astrology, Ayurveda, and moon cycles. I am also a fatalist, so I believe our path is laid out already; we just follow along. When I get frustrated with the cards I feel I’ve been dealt, the idea that what is happening is what is meant to happen eases my mind.

I am childfree, smoke-free, and pet-free. I want a partnership that can travel unencumbered at-will, save for a plantsitter. I've traveled extensively, lived abroad, and want to explore even more now, in my prime, not my retirement.

So if you are someone

  • patient, generous, dependable, forthcoming, tolerant, funny (to me!)
  • willing to take initiative, and well-versed in taking care of yourself
  • with a life purpose, a personal style, and a sense of fiscal responsibility
  • who thinks confidence is sexy, and
  • wants to bask in my shining light, not try to dim me

Then you’re it for me!

*10,000 bonus points if our partnership can result in a Schengen Zone visa as I have serious dreams of moving to Italy perché parlo la bella lingua e mi manca il bel paese. :)

Happy to share pics via DM, but I’m a 5’4”/163cm radiant, gem-eyed, busty, well-dressed Italian-Polish American with a sunkissed brunette wavy mane and an excellent sense of style. Drop a comment that will make me want to DM you? Because you won’t be able to. If I don't reply it's likely because I'm busy hosting my Sparkle Party...

[Recommendations?] Failed fitting for swim and bustier

Just ordered a 30H Freya Jewel Cove (because someone said the cup ran small, and I sort of agree) and a 28H Parfait Elissa (because someone said the band ran loose and the cup was true to size—I agree on the band but these cups are gargantuan). There are fit checks below that are protected and the pass is the model name, or the first word of it in the case of the swim. All lowercase.

I don’t know where to go from here. I’m a 30GG or 28H, FOB and projected. Neither of these feels projected enough for me. I don’t feel like I need crazy narrow wires but the Elissa is almost on my back… The Jewel is puckering at the sides—is that because I have no tissue there? I have a polka dot swim bottom that I just want a solid color swim top to go with, and I’m looking for a beige bra for every day that doesn’t have the apex issue you can see with the Jewel.

You can see how wide the Jewel is too. Even though the wires aren’t crazy wide, the fabric is wide on the sides so it slices my underarm and front of my shoulder. I could never wear this all day.

The Elissa cups are comically big. I would need a 28GG UK for this to fit but it already feels not projected enough for me at a size two sizes bigger.

[Question] Is it normal to get an impression on your tissue from embroidery?

I haven’t bought a bra in a long time. I feel comfortable in this bra. Any bigger cup and it would gape along the top edge. But it is leaving this red mark on me due to the embroidery on top. I’ve only been wearing it for an hour.

Has this happened to anyone else with Cleo bras? I’ve never worn anything with this much embroidery before.

Please help me brainstorm retorts for nosy Lyft drivers

I have to use Lyft to get to one of my clients at least 1-3x per week, both ways, so between 2-6 Lyfts. Without question, the driver always asks me, Do you have kids? like it's any of his fucking business (it's always the male drivers that get this ridiculously personal with me).

I say no, I say I don't want them, I say no not even to adopt them, I say no not even as a step parent, I say FUCK KIDS, I say KIDS SUCK, I say ABSOLUTELY NO YOU COULDN'T PAY ME to do it, I say I TOOK MY UTERUS OUT ON PURPOSE—and still they continue on peppering me with endless questions, trying to pressure me into it as if their small-minded misogynistic garbage is going to change my mind.

The last one yesterday went on a whole tirade about how women in America dressing provocatively is how rape stats are so much higher here than in Africa. These men are brazen.

So, without further ado, please stop reading this and help me brainstorm what the fuck one-liner might actually be able to shut down these curious Georges once and for all?

Did I mention that the ride there is forty minutes? Yeah, I have to listen to this forever.

[Fit Check] 30GG Cleo Blossom - Do I need to go 28H?

My boobs grew three sizes in two months, and now seem to have shrunken at least one size, all due to hormones. My measurements over time are in a photo^.

I'm trying to find the right size (and shape) bra, which was already a challenge because I have OMEGA breasts, plus I have narrow shoulders (only 13" from bone to bone) so straps ideally would be center-pull (hard to find outside of 1950's bullet bras...) I am also projected, center full, full on bottom, narrow roots. I have a long torso so breasts sit high making balconettes function like full cups and full cups be a joke. Oh, and my tissue is so extremely dense they have to MRI me instead of a mammogram.

This is the Cleo Blossom in 30GG. I am debating if I need the 28H? If I pull on the underwires, everything sits a lot better, but I'm just worried it'll be claustrophobically tight.

*If* we agree this fits, what other bras would you recommend?

(Bras that absolutely do not work: Panache Envy, Jasmine, Clara, Ana, Rocha, Andorra; Fantasie Rebecca, Reflect, Fusion, Aura, Illusion [my favorite before the size change]; Freya Fancies, Offbeat, all the molded cup styles; Gossard Glossies; anything Curvy Kate with straps [straps are too wide set]; Bravissimo Millie, Lacey, Alexa, Sara, Coco, Satine, Delilah, and Ultimate Smoothing)

I almost died exactly like Louisa last Thursday—and purposeful infrastructure caused it

Forgive me, r/bikeboston, for this foray into the similar atrocities we face across the river in supposedly bike-friendly Cambridge.

They redid Cambridge Street with protected lanes after Amanda Phillips was murdered in a dooring. Outside the CHA Hospital in Cambridge, this protected lane was designed as you see it in the above screenshots: a bus needs to pull over into what suddenly becomes a bus lane, with parked traffic blocking visibility. So I was in the bike lane approximately where the truck is (where the red marker is, where it’s written Bus on the road) and because of a parked car, was invisible to the bus, who merged into my lane to enter his bus stop.

I honked my life-saving Loud Bike horn, the bus hesitated for a millisecond, and then continued to barrel into the spot, sandwiching me into the curb and sidewalk as my horn blared and brakes squealed.

After being inches from Louisa’s exact fate, I can tell you that while infrastructure maybe could be improved here…

DRIVER EDUCATION IS PARAMOUNT TO RESOLVING THE ISSUE OF PEDESTRIAN DEATHS BOTH ON AND OFF BIKES.

I have been rallying for this for years. I want an update to the drivers license exam and mandatory re-examinations every ten years. Every year we get a bike win via policy, some dickhead carbrain never gets the memo and continues driving at the same unsafe passing distance as before, turning right on red, or in this case: believing they have the right of way in a shared lane with a merge like the one above. I would like to know what it would take to get this on a bill to make meaningful change?

Without education, infrastructure is just poured dreams.

===

But seriously, other than reporting this (bus 3143, 69 bus headed to Harvard) to the MBTA—how else can I lobby to get at least this one fucker of a parking space removed from this location??

ETA: It appears most commenters are as ignorant as the motorists about MA General Law regarding interactions of these types. I refer you to three sections:

Ch. 85, Sect. 11B: “Every person operating a bicycle upon a way, (…) shall have the right to use all public ways in the commonwealth (…) and shall be subject to the traffic laws and regulations of the commonwealth and the special regulations contained in this section, except that: (1) the bicycle operator may keep to the right when a motor vehicle which is moving in the travel lane of the way,”

Ch. 89, Sect. 2: “The driver of a vehicle passing another vehicle traveling in the same direction shall drive a safe distance to the left of such other vehicle and shall not return to the right until safely clear of the overtaken vehicle.” (…) “If it is not possible to overtake a vulnerable user, (…) the overtaking vehicle shall use all or part of an adjacent lane, crossing the centerline if necessary, when it is safe to do so and while adhering to the roadway speed limit.”

Ch. 90, Sect. 14: “In passing a vulnerable user, the operator of a motor vehicle shall pass at a safe distance of not less than 4 feet and at a reasonable and proper speed.” (…) “It shall not be a defense for a motorist causing an accident with a bicycle that the bicycle was to the right of vehicular traffic.”

[Request] Birthday wishes during the longest year of my life [Boston, MA USA]

I’ve been having a helluva year. A medically necessary surgery I waited two years for finally happened in February. I’ve since had to have four additional unrelated surgeries, as recently as yesterday. I’ve had 48 medical visits in the last 31 business days, and have 17 more to go in the next 18 days. It feels like I spend my whole life in medical facilities, and really miss being able to pay rent and doing community organizing. Hopefully by October? Who knows.

Surgery also illuminated who my true people were. Only one friend showed up to help in a sea of 15. I also broke up with my partner of six years because he didn’t show up either. So there’s no one to even take me out to dinner or go to the beach with on my birthday, which is two weeks from now, 8/19. Usually I put together a big bash. Themed parties with multiple parts, bike rides, swimming, costumes, decor, live music. My parties are legendary. But because of all the medical hubbub, I have nothing planned and am getting pretty down.

I think some cards could really help. I miss the simpler times when we would run in sprinklers and blast Backstreet Boys, so maybe snail mail could be a transportation device to better birthdays of yore.

ETA: Wow already this is so amazing! I think I DMed everyone who volunteered. Some more info: I'm turning 37. I collect postcards so feel free to use those if you prefer as postage is wildly expensive these days! I put myself on the spreadsheet for birthdays but idk if my hobbies are live yet. I am a jazz singer, a swing dancer, and a kindergarten teacher. I love the beach and biking and Italy and travel in general! Only cards that wouldn't give me warm fuzzies would be furry animal/pet cards, car/driving cards, or mango cards as I'm allergic!

Where the !%$& are the ACTUAL DESIGNER judges?

Two models and an 'image architect' judging this last week made me want to throw my computer across the room. They know nothing of how difficult it is to construct garments—they just wear them, and put them on other people.

What even is this show anymore?

Coconut-free products? (low porosity)

I have determined that my fine 2B/C hair is low porosity and that I have a coconut sensitivity and should avoid that, and protein.

I used CurlScan to try to find products that fit the bill, but I know that it’s not extensive, because even the conditioner I own currently is not listed, and has neither.

So does anyone here have suggestions of coconut-free and protein-free products? Or know what other online tools I could use to find them?

So far all I have that doesn’t contain either are conditioner and gels. I’m looking for a daily shampoo, a clarifying shampoo, a mousse, and a leave-in—ideally.

Current routine includes California Natural’s Growth Shampoo, and Curl Conditioner, Re:Grow serum, then Mielle’s Air Dry styling gel sprayed after turbie toweling and air drying hair 50%. Also use Aunt Jackie’s flaxseed gel in the winter when the air is drier. Had to throw everything else out, but the shampoo is still a culprit so need to replace it.

Any direction appreciated! Thanks!!

Acupuncture so painful I cried

I’ve had acupuncture before, including seated in community settings, and in private settings, but this is the first time I’ve been to a private setting of all Chinese practitioners that also prescribe herbs, do moxibustion, perform massage, etc.

Today I cried hysterically after a needle was inserted into my thumb when I was face down. It hurt for over an hour after it was removed. Felt like it was being ripped from its socket.

I also am experiencing a lot of burning pain on insertion in certain locations (arms, legs, feet, hands, spine). Pretty much the only place they can place needles that don’t hurt are on my upper chest, lower back and hips, and on my face and head.

But I’ve never felt anything like what they did to my thumb. Practitioner has been practicing for 5/6 years.

Is this normal?

I have qi stagnation, blood qi deficiency, weak pulse.

Has anyone has success (or failure) with any of these products?

Hey FTH folx, I just got this haul at my local big box store. I used the Yuka app to filter out anything with harmful ingredients, include phenoxyethanol, and ingredients I'm allergic to, like salicylic acid and mango.

I am particularly excited about the Re:GRO shampoo because of it containing nettle and castor oil, but I have no idea if it will make my hair look good. I might just have to solve one problem at a time. Right now that problem seems to be breakage, but I also am a classic oily roots/dry ends gal.

Opinions and experiences needed!

Needle rash or normal?

I got needlepricking today as well as cupping, but a few hours later my skin is highly reactive. Is this just normal increased blood flow, or am I having an allergic reaction? I have quite a few allergies.

This sub needs to be private - and everyone needs to block u/Longjumping_Sea_8753 before posting here

This user has reposted everything from here in the last few days, to r/ChildfreeCJ, a circlejerk sub made to mock us. Now, he can't see this post, because I blocked him. If you block him, he can't repost your posts either.

But on a larger scale note: this sub needs to be private and invite-only because the amount of parents here is at what-the-fuck level, and I'm tired of hearing from them.

This is supposed to be our safe space, and combo lack of moderation and lack of initial privacy is disallowing that from existing, and it's a fixable problem.

MA law against teachers earning Social Security

I just learned that MA is one of the remaining 15 states (along with Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, and Texas) whose public schools do not pay into—nor earn benefits from—Social Security.

The amendment to Social Security to include municipal workers was passed in the 50's... why are we still living in an ancient paradigm set up to preclude some of America's unsung heroes?

I understand that the argument is that pension plans provide equal or better retirement payouts—but that's only if you're working for 20+ years. Burnout happens well before then, but teachers who don't hit that milestone will have nothing to show for their time in the classroom?

My question is if there is or has recently been any legislation to change this in MA? If so, where does it stand? If not, why not?

I'm in hell, and dentist "can't help me" and "doesn't know why" - Is this progressive swelling really normal???

ETA: Just realized the labels on the photos are backwards. First photo is 9 days post, second photo is 11 days post, after 3 days of antibiotics.

If you saw my other post last month, I ended up going through with the crown lengthening surgery on tooth 18 (root canaled) and wish I hadn't. I cried through the whole thing. She put periodontal dressing on for the 2.5 weeks until the temp crown was inserted by a prosthodontist. I have a history of extreme bite issues so my dentist wanted the crown done by someone who specialized in that.

11 days ago the temp was inserted. I've had them done before so I expected pain, and I did expect more pain than usual because of the gum surgery, but I could never have expected this. Insertion was on Wednesday morning. After the anesthetic wore off, I was in 8/10 pain so started Peridex morning and night. By Thursday evening I asked for an appt to be seen. Friday morning pain was 9/10, but they lowered the occlusion, and assumed that I'd be all set, told me to start salt water gargles as often as 4x/day. If I had issues, I could call; the prosth would be on call all weekend 24/7.

Well, the temporary relief was just that, temporary. By 6p on Friday evening I called asking to be seen as an emergency and they denied me care and said they were going on vacation, nothing they could do, don't call back...

I had 5 other dr. appts on Monday so soonest I could get back in was Tues morning, when the prosth lowered the occlusion, again, and I asked him why the tooth was still swelling so much, "I don't know, there's nothing we can do, it's normal" was his response. I demanded to see their perio, who gave me no other useful advice beyond "stay out of the sun." By Tues late afternoon I was back in 10/10 pain.

They refused to see me again until I consulted with an oral surgeon. Soonest I could see one of those was Thurs afternoon, so Thurs morning I went into Urgent Care and demanded antibiotics because as you'll see in the second pic, the gum started turning purple. Started on Kephlex because I can't do amoxicillin and had just been on clindy for the perio procedure. Oral surgeon took a pano and said nothing looked obviously worrying. He lowered the occlusion (third time, if you're counting) and sent me on my way.

Well, after an anaphylactic reaction to Kephlex, I begged the prosth to call in a Z-pack, which I'm on now, so, three days into some kind of antibiotics. But the gums are still swelling, and now there is pain and pressure on the adjacent tooth 19, which is not root canaled!!! The gumline pain and swelling is basically spreading like a motherfucker (you can see the difference on tooth 19 in the two pics) and no one seems to give a flying fuck and I don't know what to do.

I really can only take Tylenol. NSAIDs and opioids are both allergies, but I've been taking ibuprofen and trying to manage, but it still does nothing. Still on Peridex 2x, saltwater 4x day.

Is this serious "normal"? "Expected"? "Nothing to be done"?

Trying to figure out what is stagnant post-hysterectomy

I posted yesterday but my tongue photo was not taken first thing in the morning. The first two photos were taken before tongue scraping (though I forgot to do before my teeth brushing. Sorry! Can try to remember tomorrow!); the last one is from yesterday’s post for comparison. The post I had made is as follows. Would love any guidance you can lend, thank you!

What can a woman in peri do to balance Qi after hysterectomy?

I'm 36F. Every morning I wake up and scrape my tongue of a thick white coating, that doesn't even go away with the scraper, so today I looked it up and found TCM! I notice my bite marks now too. I had a hysterectomy, salpingectomy, unilateral oophorectomy and endometriosis excision 5 months ago, and have been struggling with hormonal imbalance ever since, already diagnosed early perimenopause in 2024. I have practiced ayurveda in the past and was diagnosed vata-pitta prakriti, but that's my only non-Western lens, so excited to learn more from this sub!

* Sleep is inconsistent. I keep waking up \~1am, which TCM says means liver?
* I have been experiencing massive anxiety, the overwhelm from which is leading to depression. Sometimes I just cry all day because I feel so overwhelmed.
* My body odor is abhorrent (to me) and I sweat more than before. Deodorant is entirely ineffective and I'm washing with surgical soap, to no avail.
* My breasts have grown 3 sizes! I also put on 10lbs in 2 months, after losing 15lbs immediately after the surgery.
* My hair is falling out in buckets, going on almost two years.
* Been having dental issues/surgeries, and am not healing well at all from them! I have TMJ already, and wear a nightguard. The problems are the back molars. I have to have basically a liquid diet so more smoothies than usual. I know this is bad according to TCM!
* My appetite, thirst, digestion, urination are all too inconsistent to note a pattern.
* Bowels vary from very loose (usually), to hard at first and then very soft.
* More deep cystic acne than usual.
* I am also taking Testosterone for the perimenopause symptoms.
* I crave sweets, and crunchy stuff. I know crunchy/dry is horrible for Vata dosha so I try to avoid this but a craving is a craving!
* My energy is extremely low, even on the T. I feel that I need more sleep than an average person (ideally 9 hours).
* I practice intermittent fasting every day because I eating breakfast before 10/11am makes me gag. I usually eat from 12-7 or so.
* I am mostly vegetarian (but do occasionally eat salmon or cook with beef broth) and largely dairy-free due to allergy to cow milk and low availability of sheep/goat milk products. I eat eggs. I do not eat meat.

I am completely novice so please feel free to educate me and I will listen with curiosity! I love to do research so I welcome any resources you have to share, and will continue exploring the sub for advice and teachings. Thank you in advance!
