How do you like your werewolves?

Maybe it's because I grew up on wattpad stories, but it kinda annoys me when a story has werewolves but they dont feel like werewolves. They're just humans who can shift sometimes and even then they barely shift. People on wattpad used it just for the aesthetic.

I always wanted werewolves that were neither human nor wolves. They have a human form and a wolf, but it's more like in the image of humans and wolves.

Im working on werewolves who actually feel like theyre something more and inhuman. They were created by the Greek goddess Artemis, and chosen werewolves were female but males can be made via the bite.

In human form they're big and tall. The smallest woman is 5'8 and the smallest male is 5'10. Their hair isnt just one color but a mix of 2 or 3. their nails are naturally black and they grow thicker and to a point.

Their eyes are blue, green, or grey, and they reflect in the light.

They also just feel more animalistic, and it's something they have to learn to mask so they dont creep other races out. But you can look at them and tell that theyre not normal.

The females have heats and males have something I call the fever, which is like a rut or musth. They can shift whenever they want but the urge grows stronger during the full moon. They can have packs snd form a mental and emotional connection with their pack mates.

I also have a mate bond but it's different from normal.

And I was debating on if I should give them extra nipples, lol.

Edit: another idea I had was a group of colonizing witches would turn males of their race who had the ability to do magic into wolves, and from a young age. They would use them like slaves and weapons against people they were invading. They were stuck in wolf form but when the spell breaks, they turn back into human form and keep the sbility to shift into wolf form.

Anyone else tired of mana?

Every time I click on a post talking about their magic system and I instantly see the word mana, my eyes just glazes over.

It would be cool if someone has mana based on actual mana from Polynesian cultures, but that's never the case. It's just people going "I cant use magic, that's too basic. I know! I'll call it mana instead!"

You guys remember the house of night series? Ive started working on a story inspired by it.

I always thought that the premise was so good and interesting and there really arent a lot of stories focusing on a world where vampires or supernatural are out to the world. True blood and the Anita Blake series (before it became only smut) are also my inspirations.

I basically started tweaking stuff and going what if? And I landed on something I hope people wont think is a rip off of the house of night.

The biggest change is that I have 3 sisters I wanted to focus on with 3 different series. Each one is gonna focus on them at the Mene Academy and with them as different beings.

Charlotte, the oldest, the vampire.

Clarissa, the middle, the witch.

Madeline, the second youngest, the werewolf.

There is another sister but i dont have any plans for her.

Also, my vampires actually feel like vampires. In the house of night they were more like blood drinking and immortal witches. They didnt even have fangs.

Ive been fleshing this world out a lot, so if you guys have questions, that would be cool.

I haven't fleshed out the werewolf part yet though.

Ask me about my magic system

Witches were made by Hecate, the Greek goddess of witchcraft, the moon, the underworld, and boundaries.

Witches have an ability, some see it as an invisible limb, that let's them manipulate the elements inside people and white magic.

Every living thing and even some objects have elements on them. Earth(green), air(silver), fire(red), water(blue) and spirit (purple). It appears like bright fog inside people and every person has a different makeup of them. It can also be read like an aura.

There is also the sea of white fog(called white magic) that flows around everyone. It's never-ending in all directions but up and down, it goes from waist to knees. It passes humans, gently touches vampires, avoids demons, and clings to Witches.

Edit: (Only witches are capable of seeing this. They have 3 different types of sights. Normal sight, vague sight, snd full sight. Full sight is what allows them to see the elements inside people and to see the white fog/magic. Vague sight just allows them to see people outlined in their dominant color.)

Witches with this invisible limb that reach out to take hold of the elements. They can manipulate the elements inside themselves and others. They pull, visualize, and then work the magic.

White magic is harder and requires practice to use, and even then you can use it as is(though in the future, they do figure it out). Witches can seed white magic with a piece of element to turn it into element. Every witch can learn this with practice. What's harder is mental seeding and most Witches wont ever be able to do it.

White magic, it goes like: pull, shape, visualize, and work it.

And there are many different ways Witches can work magic. It's called talents. A talent is how Witches naturally and instinctively do magic. Or what they're drawn to. It could be singing, dancing, drumming, finger tutting, even cooking and so on.

They arent limited to their talents, but it tends to be their preference.

My witches: children of hecate

Edit:it's in detroit as well. Detroit was dubbed the vampire captial of america in like 2023? and will be called the supernatural capital of America in the future.

This is set in the modern world and witches are new to the world at this time. They're all learning as they go.

Witches in this world are human. Maybe not homo sapiens, but still human nonetheless. And the first generation of witches, starting in 2026, were all chosen by hecate. This wasnt obvious at first because the gods are pretty hands off and theyll rarely directly interact with people. Though my main character of my second series is only alive because hecate interfered when she was getting attacked by a demon.

There are sleeping witches and awakened witches. Sleeping witches are typically kids, from 15 and younger, who haven't had their powers awakened yet. They still just look like normal people, and the only signs that they might be more than human are subtle and can only be spotted by witches.

Awakening can happen in 2 ways: they awakened naturally on their own, like a second puberty. For the first generation it happened from 15-19 years old, with just a few awakening in their 20s(no older than 26). The awakening is described like your skin is itching from the inside and you've been holding your breath too long and just when you think youre gonna explode, it slowly calms down and everything settles.

The second way is forced awakening.

The second way typically only happens if a sleeping witch is in danger and them being awakened is the best way to make sure they can defend themselves. It happens when a witch (or goddess) uses the magic inside them and forces it into the sleeping witch. You place your hand on their chest and use it as a conduit. When it happens, it causes a mini explosion that blows both people back, and it leaves a permanent silver handprint. Other than that, there is no difference between the 2 awakenings.

The immediate outward signs of them being an awakened witch is their eyes instantly became the lightest they can be. Dark brown turns to light brown, and light blue becomes an unnerving even lighter blue. Over time their hair will change to either red, black, or white. Other signs are of them basically becoming better versions of human, though it's not by much. Theyre slightly stronger, faster, more resilient, and heal faster. And in the future they will discover that their aging slows down when they become an adult witch(around 18-20).

Witches have 3 types of sights. There is normal sight, vague sight, and full sight.

The normal sight is exactly what it says on the tin.

The second sight is easy to go into and doesnt take much concentration. In this sight, a witch will see people, animals, and even some objects that has absorbed elements from constant use, outlined in a certain color. This color is their dominant element inside them.

The third sight requires a bit more focus and concentration and when it happens, their eyes fog over. In this sight, they can now see a makeup of the colors of the 5 elements in beings. Earth(green), air(silver), fire(red), water(blue), and spirit(purple). They appear like bright fog and theyre constantly but slowly moving around in people. They can also be read like an aura. People can have just a little bit of certain elements while having way more of others.

Witches are unique and are outlined in gold, but still have the same elements in them. the outline dims and brightens and also grows and lessens in small amounts, like breathing. This is a witch's signature and it represents something in them that they cant see but can sense and it's what allows them to do magic.

This signature can be felt by others. Humans might get the urge to turn and look but dont know why, vampires can tell that there is something off and that theyre neither human nor vampire, and witches instantly recognize the signature as just like theres. It also attracts the attention of spirits, which is quite unfortunate for newly awakened witches who dont know what's going on.

(I also have different types of demons and spirits but I wont touch on that now.)

There is also white magic. It's like a sea of white fog/smoke that flows around people. Its vast and Neverending but it hangs around people's waist to knees. It passes humans, it gently touches vampires, it clings to witches, and it gives demons and evil spaces wild berth.

The elements is how witches mostly do magic. And it's called working magic. You pull from yourself or others, visualize what you want to happen(but be clear), and then you start to work the magic. Working can happen in different ways. Someone might instinctively pull magic into their throat and mouth and sing magic outwards. Someone might find themselves dancing and their movements send magic outwards.

There are different types of ways that someone might work magic.

And the elements come more naturally to witches. What takes a bit more effort and practice is white magic. Witches learn very quickly that even though white magic clings to them, it doesnt actually want to be used. It's not sentient but no one would blame witches for thinking otherwise. You pull at the white magic and it's slipping through your fingers to return to the sea.

It takes practice but any witch can learn to take hold of the magic and quickly seed it, to turn it into an element with time. Seeding is taking a piece of element and then putting it into the white magic that you pulled. Once you do that, you start folding and mixing it together and the white magic changes to that element and is no longer trying to escape.

Elements = pull, visualize, work magic

White magic = pull, shape, visualize, work magic

Some witches can get to a point where they can do mental seeding. But it's much harder and most witches wont get to that point. Mental seeding is just imagining a certain element in your mind and when you pull the white magic, you basically imagine shoving that image into the magic.

And witches do magic, theyre entire eyes turn completely gold. Why? Simply because I think it's cool and kinda creepy.

This isnt the only part of being a witch. These particular signs is what led witches to finding out their connection to hecate. The first is the ability to see spirits. No magic needed, the ability is innate. Spirits are attracted to witches because of the signature before but it is possible for them to hide their signature. They can hide from spirits, others, and even witches.

When they go to sleep, they also go to the 3 path crossroads. Each path has a door at the end with 2 black dogs guarding them. There's a large fire in the middle, and the crossroads are surrounded by unending forest. One door leads to the world of the living(vis astral projection), one to the world of dreams, and the last is to the underworld.

All witches can come to the crossroads but you dont have to go if you dont want to. You can bypass it and just dream. This ends up being a safe place and where witches can find others.

I also have 10 special types of witches but im not sure if I should keep going because this post is already so long and I already know a lot of people wont read it, lol.

The elements as a way to do magic, not just being able to manipulate them.

Does anyone have any ideas on how this could work? I have a world with witches from Hecate and I was trying to figure out how they work, and I just wanted a discussion on this.

Witches do magic by using the elements. There are 5 of them: fire(red), water(blue), earth(green), air(silver), and spirit(purple).

Witches have 3 sights. Normal sight, vague sight, and full sight.

With full sight they can see the colors in every living thing, and even some objects will have an element or more in them if they're frequently interacted with by people. Like, for example, a candle would have fire element in it.

These colors look kinds like smoke or fog, and they're constantly moving around. The makeup of the elements in people are different for everyone and you can read it like an aura.

There's also the white smoke/white magic that moves around people kinda like a river. This is pure undiluted magic.

When a witch does magic, they use the elements. They can use the elements in others or themselves to do magic, and a more experienced witch can use white magic and do seeding(take a piece of the elements and put it in the white magic) and they can advance even more to being able to turn the magic into an element without seeding.

I kinda had the idea witches can have different styles of doing magic. One might turn the magic into strands and weave them or braid them. Or another might make magic balls, or blanket magic or more ideas like that.

You could also use different elements to do the same thing.

Like, if you want to do an illusion, you could mix fire and air on yourself or others to make a mirage type illusion. Or you could use spirit to make the mind see what you want them to see. Though spirit might be slightly harder to do compared to the fire and air mix.

I was wondering if you guys had other ways element magic might work. Im trying to get more ideas how my system could work.

Edit: and the elements arent the elements alone. Like if you want to spark some passion in someone, you might use the fire element. If you want to calm someone, you could use water.

I have an idea about men and madness.

Okay, so I've never read the books, only watched the show and I loved it.

Anyway, there's this book series called the vampire academy and there are moroi vampires who can use the elements. There's one character with spirit and whenever spirit users use their powers, they slowly go mad. The more they use, the faster it happens.

Spirit users are also capable of bringing people back from the dead. When it happens they become bond to them. Now when a spirit users uses their power, the shadow kissed person can absorb their darkness instead. The downside is that it affects them instead and drives them mad.

Would something like this be possible for male channelers? Rand specifically?

Tying someone to them who can take on the negative aspect instead?

I have an idea for a TVD remake. Lowkey, I think i did something

Guys, I have an idea for a TVDs remake or my own take on the story, tell me if it's good.

It has the same 3 main characters and a similar premise, but instead of a girl with 2 vampire brothers after her, they actually are her ancestors.

The one brother learns an enemy is going after his last remaining human family that he didnt even know existed. He goes to look after her and only planned to protect her from afar, but after learning she doesn't have anyone in her life at all, and he comes across her as she tries to kill herself, he saves her and decides to enter her life.

She didn't even know what happened, all she saw was a fast blur snd she wondered if she was losing her mind or if she was saved by some kind of angel.

He enters her life with the goal of helping her turn her life around and being her friend (only friend, no freaky incest shit) while protecting her.

Unfortunately for him, his brother who spent the last hundred years or so, avoiding, has made his way into town. Is his brother the enemy that was supposed to be coming after her, or is his brother around to cause trouble like always.

He tries his best to keep her from the supernatural world, but it might be harder than he originally though.

Feedback for my idea based on another published work [urban fantasy]

I had a story idea/world based off the house of night series. It's more inspired by it. Basically, less of fan fiction and more like my own take on the same premise, which I always thought was really interesting.

Vampires have been out to the world for 10 years, having been forced out once random humans started transitioning into vampires. They still are struggling to get the rights they deserve, and in America alone, there are only a few schools for adjusting neonati vampires.

Charlotte "Lottie" Gates, 17 years old, was raised by her grandmother along with her 2 half sisters. Her grandmother was a God-fearing, vampire hating woman, and lottie was raised the same, though she always questioned her grandmother's beliefs. Everything changes when Lottie ends up sick and becomes one of those adjusting neonati vampires.

One failed exorcism later that ended with lottie's mother showing up to save her, Lottie ends up at the Mene Academy, the very last place wants to be, but if she wants to live then she has no choice but spend the next 4 years there.

She finds herself among the very beings she was taught to hate but soon learns that these people are much more than just vampires. Kids who were all struggling to adjust to their new lifestyle just like her, old blooded vampires who thought themselves superior to new bloods, and surprisingly, new friends as well.

But if trying to adapt to her entire world being shaken up wasn't bad enough, she accidentally developed a connection to an old blooded boy, René Jones, which pisses off the group of popular old bloods who runs the school, including his girlfriend. And all while dead human teens were popping up outside the school, attracting the attention and ire of the local humans who want nothing more than to have the school and vampires gone, by any means necessary.

All she wanted was to keep her head down and stay out of trouble, but it seemed like life had a different plan for her. Now it's up to her and her new friends to figure out who is behind all the dead humans before tensions between the humans and vampires grow worse, and figure out a way to break her connection to René before she gains even more enemies.

-----------

I plan on this being an episodic series, with like 4 seasons with each season being one year, but I'm still not that sure on that. It might be more.

Also, I have further plans for this world and her sisters. I basically want Lottie and her sisters to each be a child of the three moon goddesses: Selene, Hecate, and Artemis. The middle child(Clarissa, 12) will be a witch, a child of hecate, and the 3rd child(Madeline, 9) will be a child of Artemis, a werewolf.

4 years will have passed and after Lottie's series, i will do Clarissa's story who is now 16. Another 4 years, and i will do Madeline's story, who will be 17.

In this world, there's a lot of other gods and goddesses and other supernatural beings, and there will be signs of them throughout the series.

The back story is that the big God who ruled over earth disappeared, and all the other gods started scrambling to take control of pieces of earth and some of the humans. The goddess Selene made first play by choosing to turn random humans into vampires and forcing them out to the world.

She actually did this out of anger. She doesn't care that much if her children believed in her or not. She admits to being absent. But what pissed her off is that one of her children, Khalida, reached out to a dark figure (basically a devil like being) for power, because she wanted to take over the world and needed more power for that. To punish Khalida, Selene stripped her of her vampirism and exposed vampires so that Khalida's plan would fall through.

Selene was overall disappointed in her old children, so she made a new kind of vampire and gave them more gifts. She hasn't completely abandoned the old ones, but it's obvious she favors the newer ones, though she demands a bit more respect.

So, yeah, this is all I have at the moment. Share your thoughts, please. I know it's a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't get any attention at all, lol

What are some unique ways you've seen or read vampires turn humans into vampires?

Usually it's the vampire drink their blood and then they drink the vampires blood, or you have to die with it your system.

I wanna know what stories have done it differently and how it works.

I know twilight has a venom thing and the transformation is really painful.

So what else is there?
