Who can tell me about Piso Wifi box?
Hi all. I've been thinking of getting a Piso Wifi box because where I live there's a boarding house being built across the road, and maybe another one soon to rise. Transient workers from the nearby industrial estate. Checking on my phone just now there is one very weak signal coming from somewhere, so I'm not gonna be in competition with the local sari-sari store.
I have a pretty good connection here, is it as simple as buying a unit on Shopee for about ₱8k, mounting it somewhere safe, and plugging an ethernet cable into it from my router?
I'm fairly competent technically, I've set up and run Internet cafes in the past so this doesn't scare me at all. I know I could go to a local store and their tech would set it all up for me, but it's likely going to cost me way more that way.
Thoughts please?
^((English if possible please, I'm a foreigner here))
I've been Pavloved.
So this is kind of weird. You know those alerts we get from Google about nearby earthquakes? Usual scenario is the phone dings, check it "Earthquake nearby…" and a few seconds later, yep, I feel it. Then the dizziness kicks in because I forgot to close my eyes.
It's typically 10 - 15 seconds between getting the alert and feeling it, which is pretty amazing when you think about it.
So the other day I heard the alarm and immediately felt dizzy despite there being no movement here yet, as verified by the hanging lamps over our dining table. That particular one never actually reached us (It was like a 5.2 at 100km) here but my brain told me I should feel dizzy anyway.
So thanks, Pavlov.
Yay! I made a keyhole slot and it printed perfectly.
Once I'd figured how to approach it, it wasn't difficult at all. Another tiny step up the curve.
OK, Which one of you did this?
Received my new paddle from Luzz today, but when I opened the box (which was resealed) the paddle was just thrown in there along with the loose packaging. So the adhesive from the padded bag had stuck to the paddle face.
So I guess this was a return but whoever returned it did so with no respect whatsoever for the paddle or the next recipient.
Is it so difficult to put it back in the plastic bag if you're returning it?
Luzz are replacing it, refunding shipping, and giving me a free cover. So five stars for customer service, but one star for whoever sent this back out without first inspecting it knowing it was a return.
Is this serve legal or no?
We have a friend who joins us to make up the numbers and is improving rather nicely. Now, last night he started pulling off some serves which were almost impossible to return, real fast, just inside the baseline, and bouncing less than six inches. So I watched him to see the technique and it raised the question if it's actually a legal serve. I know there are strict guidelines for serving, underarm, below the waist, that kind of thing. Specifically, the paddle must move upward during contact, yes? His seems to move horizontally.
We discussed this and I said I would video him and ask the experts here since we're all pretty new to this. I'm not trying to cramp his style, but I don't want him to get in trouble during open play when other people might think he's cheating. I mean. nobody wants that right?
So what do you guys think?
Edit: Thanks everyone, you confirmed my suspicions.
Can someone please ELI5 how to do a filament change?
Okay guys, I've had my printer for about one year now but never really done much with two colours. And when I have, I just snipped the filament as it was going into the extruder and poked the new one in behind it, holding it until it gets grabbed. I know this isn't ideal as there will be a short period where the retraction won't work. Also, you can't control where the actual change at the nozzle will occur.
So I'm looking into doing it correctly, inserting a filament change with the slicer. I'm using Orca.
Now, I'm not sure I'm doing it right, or something weird is happening so I made a little test piece and a video of what I'm experiencing, maybe someone can explain why it isn't doing what I would expect.
So, the video starts as it's printing the final layer of the first filament. It then moves over the prime tower, rewinds a little, then the feed wheel seems to go back and forth as the head goes side to side. It then parks the head and winds back the filament before beeping at me. I take this as my cue to swap filaments so I remove the first one (which can be done without pressing the lever) and insert the second, pushing it down as far as it will go.
I then press Print on the display, it heads over to the prime tower feeds some filament then quickly winds it back, spitting out the filament before continuing as if nothing's wrong.
Is it me? Is it my slicer? What's going wrong here?
Contradicting statements here…
So on the one hand, an frameless design ensures a larger sweet spot. On the other hand, having an edge guard expands the sweet spot.
Only one of these statements can be true.
WTF Shopee, I have 7k in there.
Security reasons? What kind of BS is this?
PSA if you're planning to buy a Luzz Cannon or Glider.
This guy on YouTube has some affiliate links which get a hefty discount. (Although the math doesn't quite math, it's not 2,084.85)
I wish I'd found this yesterday, I just ordered a Cannon and paid full price.
How can I tell if my paddle is original?
My wife and I recently started playing, and bought a couple of paddles at the venu for about ₱3k each. Just recently I was looking for a new one for her birthday and I also had a look to see what mine would have cost. It's pictured above, Joola Perseus 3S and according to this, it should be around $200, or over ₱12,000 at current rates.
When new, it had a foil sleeve over the handle, saying remove this to scan the tag to prove it's the real thing. And sure enough, it has an NFC tag inside which directs to their website. But that wouldn't be difficult to fake if someone really wanted to.
So, did I get a bargain or is it a knock-off? And how can I tell the difference?
Ignore the grip tape, I replaced it when it started to come loose.
Edit confirmed, but still not updated after four days.
I'm just trying to help out a local business here. Could someone please search "Honey Night Panabo" for me? It should put you here, north of Davao, Philippines. Now from when I am it says permanently closed, and has the location to the west side of that street, Lauron. The venu is definitely open as I've dined there twice recently, and it's on the other side of the road. It's visible on street view and was there as far back as 2021. Maybe it used to be where the location shows it, but they closed down and moved to the new building across the road.
I've tried to edit it, selecting the 'moved to new location' option, and the edit was approved, but it's still showing permanently closed.
What can I do to correct this?
What do we think of the Luzz Cannon Candy?
Here we go, yep, it's another "please recommend a paddle" posts. (English if possible please, I'm an immigrant here)
Backstory: My wife and I have been playing for a couple of months now, not competitively, just messing around really. We follow the rules but have yet to play an actual game where we keep score, or the right person serves. Currently it's whoever picks up the ball…
So anyway, it's her birthday next month and she want's a nice paddle. She's currently using a Joola Perseus IV Razer edition (cost about 3k). Now I'm fully aware that an expensive paddle is unlikely to improve her game, but there's something about using nice equipment that makes you feel better, no? Kind of like having an expensive watch. It doesn't keep better time than a cheap mall watch but you feel good about using it. So for that reason, a nicer paddle should increase her enjoyment, and that's what matters.
I've been reading some of the threads (and there are so many…) and Luzz paddles keep showing up so I started looking at those and found the above. ₱6599 direct from them, or ₱7366 on Shopee, that's about the right budget. (They also sell a nice tote bag which I'll probably include)
But yeah, the choices out there are bewildering. 😵💫 I like this one because it has a cute logo and it's pink. Suitable for a lady.
But I'm open to any suggestions around the 7k price range
Globe customer care…
23:20 they finally got back to me? Unbelievable.
Pooping Dog firecracker
Does exactly what it says on the tin.
Can I claim my tickets from SM ticket outlet in SM Lanang, Davao?
As per the title. I have a voucher to collect tickets from SM Tickets. According to the website, the only outlet in Davao is SM Ecoland. That's ok, but SM Lanang is much more accessible for me. Can I claim my tickets there?
Maybe the website isn't updated.
This isn't looking good.
I'm in Panabo and ordered something from Davao (about 30km), it's usually faster that way. One week later and it seems to be back in Davao again.
