EXTREMELY Unpopular Opinion: I think the Mass Effect 3 Endings were... Fine.

EXTREMELY Unpopular Opinion: I think the Mass Effect 3 Endings were... Fine.

I get why people have issues with them but I feel like in terms of the options we were given (Destroy the Reapers and all Synthetics, Assume Control of the Reapers yourself, Merge all Synthetic and Organic Life, Refuse all the options and let the Reapers win) I felt satisfied with them.

Besides, worse endings have and will continue to exist after and in comparison, to those, I think Mass Effect 3 at least worked. It wasn't 100% satisfying but I feel like it got the trilogy over the finish in a way that would made me feel okay with it.

What would you say was the biggest mistake of your first playthrough of the trilogy?

I’d say my biggest mistake was failing to secure Zaeed and Miranda’s Loyalty in ME2 which led to their deaths in 3.

Playing Priority: Sur’Kesh and Priority: Tuchanka without Wrex is really a choice of which unlikeable douchebag to support.

To be honest though, it’s not hard to regret curing the Genophage with Wreav in charge even with Eve still alive.

What are Renegade choices that you always make that AREN'T gutting Kai Leng, Punching Han Gerrel, or "You're working too hard"?

I have three notable ones.

Killing Jeong on Feros. I rarely have enough Paragon or Renegade score to get the outcome where he stands down and to be honest, it's not worth it to save such an unlikeable character.

Killing the Batarian who tries to exit stage left during Bring Down The Sky by claiming he was just there for a slave grab. (I forgot his name) My reasonings for this range from non-Colonist or Ruthless Shepard's being like "And this gives me less reason to kill you why?" and Colonist or Ruthless Shepard's where the reasons for killing him are pretty self-explanatory.

Shutting down the sexist Batarian dude on Omega in ME2 will never not be satisfying when playing as FemShep. "Show me yours, tough guy. I bet mine's bigger."

Assuming the Reapers weren’t a factor, how would a war between the Citadel Council and Terminus Systems have gone?

u/Altair890456 — 7 days ago

The Reapers from Mass Effect replace the Yuuzhan Vong and invade the Star Wars Legends galaxy in their stead in 25 ABY? Can the Legends Galaxy survive or will they be harvested?

First, a couple of rules:

  1. To compensate for the technology gap and their lack of infrastructure within the Star Wars galaxy, the Reapers will be equalized in their technology-level to the Star Wars Legends Universe. (Reapers will be equipped with hyperspace drives, Reaper weaponry will have the same effect on Star Wars ships as they do on Mass Effect ships, etc.)
  2. Force-Sensitive individuals will be immune to indoctrination, but non-Force Sensitives will still be vulnerable to Reaper manipulation.

If you are unfamiliar with the Reapers, I'd recommend clicking this link.

How would you have reacted if Shepard hadn’t died in ME2’s intro but had instead barely survived in a coma?

For the sake of simplicity, let’s assume that Shepard doesn’t crash into the planet and Cerberus rescues them before they asphyxiate to death.

How would Wrex react if the Genophage Cure failed by accident rather than intentional sabotage?

Say the Paragon Route of the Tuchanka Mission occurs, Shepard leaks the Dalatrass’ plans, Eve survives due to Maelon’s Data, and Mordin goes up to cure the Genophage. In this hypothetical, Mordin is killed by shrapnel from an explosion before he can fix the STG Sabotage and the cure fails as a result. How would Wrex react in this instance if the cure wasn’t intentionally sabotaged by Shepard but failed purely as an accident?

If Johnson had survived the events of Halo 3, how do you think he would've reacted and affected the events of the Reclaimer Saga?

I can only imagine he'd make some remark along the lines of "And I thought I knew what the ladies liked." when he finds out about the Librarian accelerating Chief's evolution to counter the Composer.

Something I don't often see people discuss about Halo 4 is how horrifying Chief's first encounter with the Didact must've been from his perspective.

Imagine being in his shoes: You've reached a device that should hopefully get you into contact with that UNSC Ship near you only for it to repeat your own distress call and then burst open to reveal some new alien. Said new alien then proceeds to grab you through some unknown means and, as it speaks to you, reveals that it's a Forerunner. A Forerunner, one of the supposedly long-extinct aliens who created the galaxy-destroying Halo Rings that you've stood on with your own two feet, is still alive...

And he hates you and he hates humans.

Chief is honestly lucky that the Didact was more concerned with grabbing the Composer than finishing him off.

What if Master Chief reunited with Frank Mendez?

Senior Chief Petty Officer Franklin Mendez was the officer responsible for the training of Master Chief and the other SPARTAN-IIs. As the Human-Covenant War began, Chief and Menendez went their separate ways and never saw each other again.

Despite what that phrase would imply, Mendez did survive through the entirety of the Covenant War. He eventually came to regret his role in the SPARTAN-II's creation and later retired to the shield world Sarcophagus. With that context in mind, what would a reunion between John-117 and Mendez look like?

What would've happened in ME3's Story (and possibly in ME2's) if the Illusive Man was never indoctrinated?

The reason why I bring up ME2 as well is because some stuff in there, mainly TIM's offer to keep the Collector Base, seems to indicate to me that he was indoctrinated even then.

[Halo/Mass Effect] What if Cortana replaced EDI?

During the events of Halo 4, Cortana suffered from her condition of Rampancy which came as a result of her limited 7-year lifespan as a Smart AI. During the climax of Halo 4, as Master Chief was about to sacrifice himself by detonating a nuke in his own face to stop a Forerunner weapon called the Composer. Cortana sacrificed herself by encasing Chief within a Hardlight Shield before seemingly dying. However, as was revealed in Halo 5, Cortana survived due to interfacing with an ancient galaxy-spanning data network known as the Domain. However, due to a combination of various factors, Cortana went mad with power and attempted to subjugate the galaxy only to realize the error of her ways and sacrifice herself yet again in Halo Infinite.

But after sacrificing herself, Cortana had ended up in another universe? Instead of the Mantle's Approach's destruction taking her to Genesis and the Domain, she and the ship crash on a remote world in the Attican Traverse within the universe of Mass Effect. The transfer from one universe to another cures Cortana of her rampancy but not interfacing with the Domain prevents her megalomania as seen in Halo 5. After a while, Cortana is recovered from the wreckage of Mantle's Approach by Cerberus who integrate her into the systems of the Normandy SR-2 in place of EDI.

How would Cortana have interacted with the Normandy and her crew within the universe of Mass Effect and what would her dynamic with Commander Shepard be like? Back in the Halo universe, how would Cortana's absence from events post-Halo 4 affect that universe as well?

[Interesting Trope] A normally bad or immoral decision becomes the right call under a certain set of circumstances

  1. Sabotaging the Genophage Cure: Mass Effect 3 - During the events of the Mass Effect 3 quest Priority: Tuchanka, you are given an option by a leader of the Salarian Race to sabotage a cure for the Genophage, a forced sterility plague made to keep the Krogan race infertile after they nearly attempted to take over the galaxy a few centuries back. Most of the time, the Krogan will be under the leadership of Urdnot Wrex, a close friend of the player character Commander Shepard who wants to reform the Krogan away from their war-like ways and is helped by Eve/Urdnot Bakara who helps to rally the Krogan together and hold back the more radical elements of their society. Under this framework, sabotaging the cure is generally inadvisable. However, if both Wrex and Eve are dead by the events of ME3, then the Krogan will be under the leadership of Wrex's brother Urdnot Wreav. A belligerent xenophobe who wants the Genophage cured mainly so he can unleash a new Krogan army upon the galaxy. With him in charge and no one to keep his ambitions in check, sabotaging the Genophage cure becomes the right call since you'll be stopping a major galactic threat in the process. To sweeten the deal, the game even allows you to spare the life of Mordin Solus, a squadmate who normally dies curing the Genophage, by convincing him to go along with the sabotage since he'll be troubled by Wreav's leadership and intentions.
  2. Firing the Halo Array: The Halo Franchise - Normally, firing a whole array of superweapons designed to wipe out all life in the galaxy would be considered a dick move but what matters is why they were built for that purpose. Within the lore of Halo, a parasitic alien race known as the Flood were currently ravaging across the galaxy and assimilating all of life. The only way to stop the Flood was to starve them of their food source and the Halo's were designed by the Forerunners to do just that. Eliminate all life in the galaxy in order to starve out the flood. This gambit ended up playing out as once the Halo's were fired, the Flood were gradually starved out and the Forerunners reseeded life in the galaxy before leaving it to seek out refuge somewhere else, leaving their role as galactic protectors to Humanity.

What are your headcanons on Metal Sonic Mk 2.0 from Sonic Rivals 2?

My personal idea is that unlike 3.0, 2.0 is another form of the OG Metal Sonic and is somewhere between his base form and his Neo Metal form in terms of both abilities and power. He also retains the ability to speak in this state.

Crazy to think that if Lee had put on the headset later than she did, then Jax probably would’ve recognized or known Zooble. (Well, she would’ve recognized or known Riley but I digress)
