What manga did you start on a whim and end up loving?

What manga did you start on a whim and end up loving?

I started Made in Abyss without really knowing what to expect, and it ended up becoming one of my favorite manga.
So I’m curious: what manga did you start on a whim and unexpectedly end up loving?
I’d love to hear about some unexpected discoveries!

Was Tenchu: Stealth Assassins one of the most underrated PS1 games?

I’ve been revisiting some old PS1 games lately, and Tenchu: Stealth Assassins really stood out to me.
I remember playing it years ago, but going back to it now made me realize how unique it was for its time. The atmosphere, stealth gameplay, ninja setting and even the slightly clunky controls have a certain old-school charm.
It got me wondering:
Do you think Tenchu: Stealth Assassins was underrated?
And what other forgotten or underrated PS1 games would you recommend?
I’m especially interested in games that aren’t the usual Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Silent Hill etc.
Give me your hidden gems.

Which starter are you choosing for Pokémon Winds & Waves, and why? 🌱 Browt 🔥 Pombon 💧 Gecqua Are you choosing based on the design, typing, or are you waiting to see their final evolutions?

I’m still trying to decide which starter I’ll choose when Pokémon Winds & Waves comes out.
At the moment, I’m torn between them, so I’d love to know what everyone else is thinking.
Which one are you choosing, and what made you pick it?

What anime completely changed your opinion on a genre you didn’t like?

For me, it was Violet Evergarden.
I never thought I would enjoy this kind of anime as much as I did, but Violet Evergarden completely changed my perspective.
What about you? Which anime made you change your mind about a genre you previously didn’t like?

If Sony announced a The Legend of Dragoon remake tomorrow, what would you want them to change and what should never be touched?

The Legend of Dragoon is still one of my favorite PS1 JRPGs, and I still think about how amazing a modern remake could be.
Personally, I’d love updated graphics, smoother animations, and some quality-of-life improvements.
But there are things I hope they’d never change, like the Addition combat system, the soundtrack, and the overall story.
What about you?
If Sony announced a remake tomorrow, what would you want them to improve, and what absolutely has to stay the same?

Thinking about switching to D&D 5.5e. What are the biggest changes?

I’ve been playing 5e (2014) for quite a while, and I’m seriously considering switching to 5.5e (2024).
I know there are a lot of changes, but I’d rather hear from people who have actually been playing it than just read a list of rule updates.
What are the biggest differences you’ve noticed during actual gameplay?
I’m especially curious about things like:
Character creation
Classes and subclasses
Weapon Mastery
Feats
Spells
Combat
Overall game balance
After spending some time with it, do you think it’s an improvement over the 2014 version? What changes have you enjoyed the most, and are there any that you dislike?
I’d love to hear your experiences. Thanks!

Why do you think Parasite Eve never became one of Square’s flagship JRPG franchises?

I’ve been thinking about Parasite Eve lately, and it’s amazing how unique it still feels even by today’s standards.
The combination of turn-based RPG mechanics, real-time movement, survival horror elements, and a modern-day setting is something we rarely see. Aya Brea is also one of Square’s most memorable protagonists, in my opinion.
Considering how many iconic JRPG franchises Square created, I’ve always wondered why Parasite Eve never became one of its flagship series. Was it the niche concept, the licensing issues, the direction of the sequels, or simply bad timing?
If Square announced a faithful remake tomorrow, I’d be there on day one.
What do you think kept Parasite Eve from becoming one of Square’s biggest JRPG franchises?

Anyone else remember Blue Seed?

I haven’t thought about Blue Seed in years until recently.
I always felt it was one of those forgotten ’90s anime that deserved more attention.
Anyone else remember it?

What’s your favorite D&D class, and why?

Not necessarily the strongest one—just the class you enjoy playing the most.
What makes it your favorite? The mechanics, the roleplay, the fantasy, or a memorable character? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Does anyone remember Flint the Time Detective?

I was hit with a wave of nostalgia today and suddenly remembered Flint the Time Detective. It used to be one of my favorite shows, but I almost never see anyone talk about it anymore.
The mix of time travel, historical figures, and the Time Shifters made it feel so different from other anime airing back then.
Was anyone else a fan? What are your favorite memories of this series?

Finally starting Dragon Quest VII on Switch. What makes this game special? (No spoilers, please!)

After hearing so many different opinions about Dragon Quest VII over the years, I finally decided to give it a try on my Switch.
I’ve seen people call it one of the most ambitious JRPGs ever made, while others say it’s a very slow burn. That contrast is exactly what made me curious.
Without spoiling anything, what do you think this game does exceptionally well? I’d love to hear your thoughts before I dive in.

Three graphic novels that remind me why I love this medium. Which one had the biggest impact on you?

I’ve always admired how different these three books are, yet they all completely changed the way people look at graphic novels.
Watchmen deconstructs the superhero genre, V for Vendetta explores power, freedom and resistance, while The Crow tells an intensely personal story about grief and revenge.
Even years after reading them, I still find myself thinking about their themes and going back to them.
Which one do you think has aged the best, and why?

Does anyone else miss Monster Rancher?”

I feel like Monster Rancher doesn’t get talked about enough these days.
I loved both the anime and the video games. The anime had a great adventure feel, and the games were incredibly unique with the CD-based monster generation system.
While Pokémon and Digimon are still widely remembered, Monster Rancher seems to have faded into the background despite having its own charm and memorable characters.
Did you watch the anime, play the games, or both? What are your favorite memories of the series?
