XPEL XR Plus Certificate or Warranty from Installer

Hello friends - I found an installer listed on the XPEL website and have an appointment with him tomorrow to install windshield/side/back XR Plus tint on my wife's car.

Should I ask the installer for a certificate, warranty, etc., while I'm there? I'm just trying to think of ways to confirm that he's actually installing XR Plus and not a cheaper tint.

$4,365 in Surprise Fees

There's a 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT that was on the lot at a dealer in Michigan for about a year, then it was traded to a dealer in Atlanta in April, where it's been sitting on the lot for the past 43 days. It had the Michigan dealer's license plate frame in the photos on the Atlanta dealer's website.

The online price is $49,990, which includes the dealer fee and title fee (stated in the fine print at the bottom of the page).

I test drove it today and got the buyer's sheet:

  • $49,990 Adjusted Price
  • $1,340 Elo Protection 5 Years
  • $1,240 360 Shield
  • $499 Window Tint
  • $53,069 Total Purchase
  • $129 Taxable Fees
  • $899 Dealer Fee
  • $3,786.79 Tax
  • $258 Non-Tax Fees
  • $58,142.40 Balance

I asked them to remove the "optional" addons and they would not.

I have no intention of buying it. I just find it hilarious how it's under $50K online, but they try and sneak in another $4,365.61 in fees when I tried to buy it (including double-dipping on the dealer and title fees).

I'm having trouble installing the 3.8.11 software update on my 2022 VW ID.4 Pro S.

I got a notification in the app a month ago that the 3.8.11 update was ready for my car and I started the download. It took a month for the update to finish downloading and today I got the OTA Update available message.

I parked my car outside with a 73% SoC and one bar on the 4G strength signal icon. I turned off the headlights and set the car in park and pressed the park button again so the red "P" icon appeared on the screen. I pressed the Start/Stop button on the side of the steering column. I tapped the yellow "Install Update" button on the infotainment screen and then it said to get out of the car and lock it, which I did. I took the keyfob inside with me.

I waited three hours, got back in the car, and the infotainment screen said that the OTA update failed. I parked the car in my garage, which also has one bar of 4G, and repeated the steps above. Three hours later I got in the car and the update failed again.

I'm guessing I need to park it outside where I can get three 4G bars and try again? Anything else I should try?
