How do I safely isolate my Rental Suite's internet?

Apologies for ignorance on the subject, but I really could use some help from experts in here. I have attached our home internet setup (done by our builder).

The objective is: how do I share internet with my rental suite without them ever being able to access anything on my home network (like our NAS media server or my office pc)?

We have installed a TP Link AC750 router in "Router" mode so the tenant can use the wifi, and so maybe that can help restrict their access to our network, right? But what if they remove the AC750 unit and directly plug their laptop into the wall Ethernet jack port?

Our end goal is to restrict their access to our network in these 3 use cases,

  1. They connect via AC750 Wi-Fi. (I think this should be covered but let me know if I'm wrong here)
  2. They connect their laptops via AC750's Yellow Ports (like into additional ports on the Wi-Fi router in their room).
  3. They unplug the Router and use the Wall Jack Directly. (This is what we want to secure 100%)

What is the best way forward to achieve this? Any help or advice on how to get this fixed would be really helpful.

Is there a network isolate device that I can use for my tenant?

Is there a network isolate device that I can use for my tenant?

Apologies for my ignorance on the subject, but I'm posting here after a month-long struggle and after spending ~$500.

All I need is some device that I can plug into an existing cat cable and it turns on isolated mode (cannot read anything from the home network). I have already tried a few switches and called a networking company and it's just getting complicated and expensive.

I don't know much about all these networking. I guess our house builder was a tech savvy person and the setup currently have is with some kind of mesh networking etc.

Which episode would you suggest to someone who isn't familiar with the office?

Which episode would you suggest to someone who isn't familiar with the office (any version) and they want to watch 1 episode to determine if it's worth the watch.

I'm going to suggest: The Stress Relief episode but looking for other suggestions.

How to plan our first family vacation for 8 weeks after purchasing our first ever home (away from home)?

Apologies if this is not the right place to ask our questions but we are indeed first time home buyers, who purchased our first ever home here in Canada (or anywhere in the world) in August 2024.

We're planning to take a long vacation (8 weeks total including travel days) in the coming months to Asia. It's our first family vacation after COVID and first ever after owning a home.

So we're here to ask for your guidance and suggestions about what we need to keep in mind. What should we must do before traveling? what to do during traveling and what to do/check after coming back from vacation?

I know this might be a dumb question, but we never really travelled when owning the home in the past, whenever we travelled for long - we were renting in a building which had some sort of security/management team so we don't need to worry.

But now we own a fully detached house (no HOA/strata). We don't have any pets, but we do have indoor plants.

Any suggestions or advice would be really helpful. Thanks so much in advance.

Any reviews about Brother HL-L2465DW monochrome all in one printer?

I'm about to order this model but before I do that, just want to see if anyone has this model or used this model and have some feedback about the model.

Product: Brother HL-L2465DW Monochrome Laser Printer (All-in-One Print, Copy and Scan Functions)

Link: https://a.co/d/07SH9206

One thing that I'm confused about is that this is an model from *HL* series which if I understand correctly is for print only. But this model says it's all in one Scan/Print/Copy functions.

Our Budget is: $250 CAD

Our Need is: 100-300 pages per month and maybe occasionally scan documents.

Help me finding a b/w printer for normal home use?

We're in the market for a new home printer and looking for a good long lasting printer (without any subscription or anything).

Our Needs

  1. Have the ability to scan, print and copy documents. (To print around 100-300 pages/per month)

  2. Have the ability to process batch documents (like scan 20-30 documents in one go rather than one by one).

  3. We only need black & white print (gray-scale), so no color printer needed.

Our budget is around $250 CAD.

Websites to get Vietnam eVisa for Canadian citizen?

Hi Everyone 👋, We're a family of 4 are planning a family trip to Vietnam later this year.

And now we're starting to look at the visa process, Google is suggesting some private companies get the eVisa from which I feel like charging too much. It's like $CAD 525 for 4 people (single entry 3 month visa).

Are there any government websites that we can use to get visas at government fees?

How to verify future tenants in BC Canada?

Hi everyone, we purchased our first ever home here in the Vancouver area in BC Canada. It does have a 1 bedroom walkout basement suite with separate entrance from the backyard. The rental suite is currently vacant, but we are planning to rent it out in upcoming months.

But we have zero experience about being landlords. And we are originally from an Asian country so we aren't experts in bylaws or legality of rental in BC Canada. So if anyone can guide us here, that'll be really helpful. Here are our questions,

  1. Do we need to register somewhere as "landlord" in any tenants associations or something?

  2. Once we find a tenant, do we need to get in touch with any lawyer for a rental agreement? Or any other process for setting up a proper rental agreement?

  3. Are there any websites where we can do credit checks for future tenants for a fee?

  4. What is the procedure for getting Police verification done for tenants (of course with their consent) to make sure they're legit.

  5. Do we need to inform local police stations about who is renting in our basement suite (we have a law in our birth country for this)?

And finally, any other suggestions or recommendations for verifying our future tenants before we sign any agreement with them.

Thank you in advance and please feel free to DM if you have any other advice for us.
