Hi friends! We have a lovely 1-bedroom + den walkout basement suite available for rent *starting August 1st.*
🌳 Located in a nice neighborhood near the Philippson Family Park in Promontory, Chilliwack. The extra den area is perfect for a home office! 💻
If you or anyone you know is looking for a nice, cozy new home, please drop me a DM for details. Thanks! 🙏✨
Hi everyone, we purchased our first ever home here in the Vancouver area in BC Canada. It does have a 1 bedroom walkout basement suite with separate entrance from the backyard. The rental suite is currently vacant, but we are planning to rent it out in upcoming months.
But we have zero experience about being landlords. And we are originally from an Asian country so we aren't experts in bylaws or legality of rental in BC Canada. So if anyone can guide us here, that'll be really helpful. Here are our questions,
Do we need to register somewhere as "landlord" in any tenants associations or something?
Once we find a tenant, do we need to get in touch with any lawyer for a rental agreement? Or any other process for setting up a proper rental agreement?
Are there any websites where we can do credit checks for future tenants for a fee?
What is the procedure for getting Police verification done for tenants (of course with their consent) to make sure they're legit.
Do we need to inform local police stations about who is renting in our basement suite (we have a law in our birth country for this)?
And finally, any other suggestions or recommendations for verifying our future tenants before we sign any agreement with them.
Thank you in advance and please feel free to DM if you have any other advice for us.

Apologies if this is not the right place to ask but we are hoping to get some guidance/help here.
My spouse recently got fired from his job due to misconduct (reason was valid - he helped his friend to buy an expensive item at a lower price by using a different product bar code sticker). It was like a $1200 discount on a $2000 product.
Anyhow, the store found out and fired him for this misconduct. They asked him to sign some papers but he didn't look at the paperwork and just signed. The store manager asked him to not shop at this store anymore.
I know what he did was wrong, but now we need to move on. So here are our questions
What can be the consequences of his actions? Will other employers at different stores see this reported somewhere?
He also wants to go back to school and get a long-term career. Will this big box event cause any harm in his future studies/work.
Can/Do his store would try to sue us for some money? (Like $10k or more for this misconduct).
What else should we keep in mind going forward (apart from not doing work thefts.
I know we're in a sad boat here but please be kind and advise us how to proceed ahead in the future.
Thank you

We have our mortgage renewal coming up in March 2027 (I know we still have a lot of time), but there are some complications, so we're trying to plan things ahead of time.
House Value: $1m
House Mortgage: 868k (we bought with 5% down with CMHC)
CAR Mortgage: 40k
Household income was $225k/year a few months ago. My spouse got fired a few months ago (with cause, so no EI payments), so now it's about $190k/year. The house has a rental suite that rents for 1500/month.
My spouse is now planning to go back to school for a long-term career, which means for the next couple of years, she won't be working.
So, here are the questions
Everything that happened in House of the Dragon really does trace back to Alicent Hightower.
Viserys spent years naming Rhaenyra as his heir, but on his final night, Alicent heard his broken words about “Aegon” and believed he meant their son, not Aegon the Conqueror’s dream. That misunderstanding gave the Greens the emotional excuse they needed to crown Aegon II, turning a succession crisis into the Dance of the Dragons.
From there, everything spiraled: Rhaenyra’s claim was challenged, the realm split, dragons turned against dragons, and House Targaryen began destroying itself from within.
And the funniest part is how far the blame can stretch. Because the Dance weakened the Targaryens, the dragons faded, the dynasty eventually collapsed, Robert’s Rebellion happened, Daenerys rose and fell, and somehow Bran Stark ended up king.
So yes, in the most chaotic way possible, even Bran on the throne is Alicent’s fault.
To be honest, I do think that messi should have been expelled, but he didn't for one reason or other. Personally, I also think that through the game, the reff let the players continue after most of the fault because most of the time, they fake it. You can literally see that the game ended up with zero yellow cards and reds.

If you think about it, this doesn't make sense if you take on mind that there were multiple dangerous faults from other players, and people talked about it because it "wasn't" the big deal, but now that it happens to messi people are completely losing it, saying that the world cup is already rigged for argentina.

🇦🇷 Messi — 3 Goals ⚽⚽⚽
🇫🇷 Mbappé — 2 Goals ⚽⚽
🇳🇴 Haaland — 2 Goals ⚽⚽
🇵🇹 Ronaldo — ❓

All within 24 HOURS.

And now everyone is waiting for Ronaldo's answer... 👀

Apologies if this is not the right place to ask. I'm originally from India, moved to Canada in 2013-2014 on Canadian PR. When I arrived here I did all kinds of jobs (waiter, store helper, etc) and then have been driving cabs since 2015.

I'm now hoping to switch into trades (electrical work). From what I have found, I need English 12 and Math 12 to get into trades school. I have done a bachelor's degree from India in commerce in 2004-2007.

So looking for any school around Abby? I'll be working 30-40 hours a week, so would prefer a virtual school if possible where I can get Math 12 and English 12 prerequisites done.

PS: I know I may get some hate/downvotes for this but please be kind as any suggestions or advices would be really helpful for me and my family here. Thank you.
Apologies if this is not the right place but we don't know what else we can do.
Background: We purchased the property in 2021 in Chilliwack, BC. We have updated our address everywhere (Banks, CRA, City of Chilliwack, all the utilities accounts, etc).
The issue is, even after 5 yrs of owning the house, we still get several mails for the previous owners like
- RBC bank promotions
- Speculation and Vacancy Tax
- Property Tax from the City of Langley (I think it's the previous owner's other property but the address they have on file is our Chilliwack home address)
And apart from there important ones, We also get documents from several commercial stores like Costco, Marks, etc for the previous owner's name.
The first 2-2.5 years, maybe more - we wrote "Return to sender" on pretty much on each documents and dropped in the Canada Post box.
But even so this day, we get mails for them. What is the correct approach here?
