It’s unwritten Filipino culture that everyone follows but nobody ever explains?
Many Filipinos are raised with the concept of **utang na loob**, which encourages gratitude toward parents or relatives who sacrificed for their education and upbringing. Supporting your family financially is often seen as a way of giving back.
The challenge is that **utang na loob** can sometimes evolve from gratitude into an expectation. Instead of occasional help, some families expect continuous financial support, making the breadwinner responsible for siblings, parents, and even extended relatives. This can delay personal financial goals like building an emergency fund, buying a home, or saving for retirement.
At its best, **utang na loob** strengthens family bonds through gratitude and reciprocity. At its worst, it can create guilt and pressure when support is expected indefinitely, regardless of the person’s own financial situation.

VITRO REIT IPO is definitely one of the most interesting IPOs this year. It’s the country’s first data center REIT, giving investors exposure to digital infrastructure instead of the usual office, retail, or logistics assets. On paper, the long-term demand story looks compelling as cloud computing, AI, and digitalization continue to grow.
However, I’m also looking at it from another angle.
A large portion of the IPO proceeds received by the selling shareholder is expected to be used for debt repayment. As of the end of March 2026, PLDT had approximately ₱297.3 billion in gross debt and ₱282.3 billion in net debt, and analysts have described the VITRO REIT transaction as credit-positive because it helps reduce leverage.

As l entered my 40s, and as an introvert, I started giving back to myself.

ATRAM Trust Corporation has approved changes to the Fund’s Plan Rules to improve the income distribution process and provide investors with more flexibility and transparency. The BSP has been notified of these amendments.
Key Changes
1. New Standing Settlement Instruction (SSI)
Investors can now choose how to receive their income distributions:
Cash payout through automatic redemption of units, or
Reinvestment by retaining the income as additional units in the Fund.
The SSI can also be updated anytime to change payout preferences or settlement account details.
2. Improved Distribution Timing
Income distributions will be more closely aligned with income received from the Fund’s underlying global investment (Target Fund), promoting fairer and more consistent distributions among investors.
3. More Detailed Disclosures
Additional information will be provided regarding:
How income is converted into units
Which NAVPU is used for calculations
Auto-redemption and reinvestment mechanics
Minimum payout thresholds
Conditions for cash payouts versus unit retention
Other Updates
Inclusion of the Target Fund Manager’s name in the Plan Rules.
Clarification of Third-Party Custodian fee disclosures to reflect current custody arrangements.
Impact on Investors
The amendments:
✅ Do not change the Fund’s investment objective, strategy, or risk profile.
✅ Do not increase or change current fees.
✅ Are intended to improve operational efficiency and transparency.
When Will It Take Effect?
The updated income distribution framework is expected to start with the September 2026 payout cycle.
What Should You Do?
No action is required if you are comfortable with the default arrangements.
If you want to specify how distributions are handled, submit or update the SSI form.
If you disagree with the changes, you may redeem your units before 23 July 2026 under the Fund’s normal redemption policies.
My PWD brother working in this karindirya for more than 10 years already in Project 3 QC, near Anson Supermarket. They have atleast 10 employees base sa mga pictures na pinapadala ng kuya ko sa messenger. Nakita ko sa online sss account ni brother bale 1 year lang yung nabayaran nung employer. Pwede pa ba mahabol yung mga lapses nung employer or report to SSS?
I received offer upgrade from BDO VISA GOLD TO PLATINUM. I followed the steps by sending parameters to 225678. Is it normal na walang response? Pwede bago itawag sa CS to do it manually on the system? Sino nakagawa nito?
