Accidentally pulled my USB-C charging cable hard — should I be worried about internal port/data damage?

Hey everyone,

I had a minor accident today where I accidentally tripped over my USB-C charging cable while it was plugged into my Mac, pulling it at an awkward angle.

Everything seems to be charging and working fine right now, but I'm a bit paranoid about long-term or hidden damage. Since the USB-C port handles both power delivery and high-speed data transfer, I'm worried if this kind of stress could cause subtle issues with data transmission down the road, or if the port's solder joints on the logic board might be compromised.

Have any of you experienced this? Did your port hold up fine over time, or did it start failing later? Would love to hear your experiences or any advice!

Where do all the 30-somethings go? The mystery of the invisible adult fanbase in anime, tech, and online spaces.

It always feels like teenagers are the only ones hanging out in online spaces. Whether it is people discussing LGBTQ+ struggles or sharing their favorite anime characters, everyone seems so young. Even when I walk into local tech meetups or gadget gatherings in Japan, it is mostly teenagers.

However, I recently went to see the new anime movie for Puella Magi Madoka Magica, a franchise I fell in love with when I was a kid. The background and context of the new movie are hard to fully appreciate without watching the original 2010 series, so the audience was definitely filled with veterans rather than newcomers. Inside that theater, I suddenly felt like I was at a high school reunion for people who grew up at the same time. I finally found all the 30-year-olds! But the moment we stepped outside, everyone scattered, and they vanished back into thin air.

My hobbies are social media, anime, and gadgets. I know for a fact that plenty of people in their 30s share these exact same interests. So why are they completely off the radar?

My hypothesis is this: teenagers are usually the ones making posts that resonate widely and spark active discussions, which creates an illusion that only teens exist online.

Have you guys noticed this too? Where are the other adults hiding, and how do you find them?

Apple needs an "Away Mode" (or a "Not at Home/Work" trigger) for iOS Focus modes

I currently use location-based automations to switch between my "Home Mode" and "Work Mode." However, I really wish iOS had a general "Away Mode" for when I am in neither of those specific locations.
The current location automation options allow you to trigger a Focus mode when leaving a specific place. But since I have multiple locations for both home (two houses) and work (two offices), setting up simple reverse triggers is a mess. What I really need is an automation trigger or a native mode that activates automatically when I am not at any of my registered home or work locations.
Please note: I am looking for a native iOS solution, so I want to avoid building a custom workaround using the Shortcuts app.
Apple should definitely add a "not in these locations" condition for Focus mode triggers. Does anyone else feel the need for this?

App Store Connect: App removed due to App Store Improvements - can I restore it just by uploading a new binary?

Hi everyone, Today I received a notification from App Store Connect stating that my app has been removed (due to the "App Store Improvements" policy regarding older, unupdated apps). I have a quick question for those who have experienced this: 1. Has anyone else received this specific removal notice recently? 2. Can the app be restored simply by uploading a new binary? If I upload a fresh build with the latest SDK and bug fixes, does it bring back the original app page, metadata, ratings, and reviews in a way that is easier than creating a brand new app entry from scratch? Or will it be treated as a completely new submission anyway? Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone else want a full-coverage clear TPU case with Smart Connector (Pogo pins) for the 13" M3 iPad Air + Magic Keyboard?

I’m really looking for a specific type of case for my 13-inch M3 iPad Air, but I can’t seem to find anything like it on the market.
Basically, I want a full-coverage, clear TPU case (similar to ESR’s classic clear cases) that actually includes built-in Pogo pins for full Magic Keyboard compatibility.
A few details on what I'm looking for and why:
No need for a cutout top edge: I fully understand that a case this thick won’t allow the Magic Keyboard to close completely, and I’m totally fine with that. I don't need the top or sides shaved off just to force it shut.
Prioritizing protection over ultra-thinness: Most compatible cases (like CoverBuddy) sacrifice edge protection or material durability just to keep the profile paper-thin. I’d much rather have full 360-degree corner and edge protection, even if it adds a bit of bulk.
Full-body clear TPU design: I want to show off the original color of the iPad while having actual shock absorption.
It feels like accessory makers think everyone only wants ultra-slim cases that let the keyboard fold 100% flush, but I’d gladly trade a flush closure for actual drop protection and Smart Connector passthrough.
Has anyone seen a manufacturer making something like this, or am I the only one who would buy it?

What specific aesthetic or subgenre does this 2000s tech + palm tree wallpaper style belong to?

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to figure out what specific Y2K subgenre or aesthetic this kind of imagery belongs to—specifically, high-contrast or slightly desaturated palm tree photos combined with early 2000s tech (like old MacBooks, iOS 6/Aqua-era interfaces, and iPods).
It feels like it sits somewhere between Cyber Trance/Rave aesthetics, early Tumblr-era aesthetics, and tech nostalgia, but I'm curious if there's a more specific name for this exact vibe.
Does anyone know what this style or movement is called? Thanks!

Looking for a pocket-sized UPS / power bank solution for a Raspberry Pi that supports zero-interrupt pass-through charging (like the Lenovo Thinkplus FLUXO 140W?)

Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a compact, mobile-battery-sized UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) or a specific type of power bank for my Raspberry Pi (which has no internal battery).
My ideal setup is:

  1. Powering the Raspberry Pi (or a similar SBC) via Port A.
  2. Simultaneously charging the power bank itself via Port B (from a wall charger).
  3. Crucial requirement: Absolutely zero interruption (no micro-drop/blackout) to the Raspberry Pi's power when the external power source changes, switches, or disconnects. I want true UPS functionality, but I'm not looking for large, heavy desktop/server UPS units. It needs to be pocket or mobile-battery sized.
I've been looking at the Lenovo thinkplus FLUXO 140W 20000mAh Power Bank, which features "Digital Hybrid Charging" and a nice TFT display, but I don't own one yet.

Is PCVR actually a minority in VRChat now? (Or: How do you handle VRChat with a nomadic lifestyle?)

I’ve been wondering lately—is the PCVR crowd actually a minority in VRChat now?
Because of my job, I constantly move between multiple company dormitories/locations, so I can only really pack the absolute essentials like clothes. While you can definitely find clever ways to pack and travel with a VR headset, there is just no practical way to haul around a heavy gaming desktop.
I really wish VRChat could be fully enjoyed with just a smartphone, tablet, or a standalone Quest 3. How do other people with mobile or nomadic lifestyles deal with this?

iPad Air(13インチ)ケース検索:イラつきと“究極のクリアケース”を求めて

I'm currently looking for a full-protection clear case for the 13-inch iPad Air, and I'm hitting a super frustrating wall. Almost every case on the market falls into one of these annoying categories:
No Apple Pencil cutout/slot: Cases that completely cover the charging side, meaning you either can't charge it or it won't attach magnetically properly.
Large cutouts/gaps for Magic Keyboard: Types with huge cutouts or open sides designed to fit Apple's Magic Keyboard, completely defeating the purpose of a standalone "full protection" case.
Not actually clear: Frosted, matte, tinted, or with a thick built-in screen protector that ruins the original look (the naked feel) of the iPad.
What I actually want is this:

  1. True Full Protection: Covers all edges and corners securely without large gaps.
  2. Crystal Clear: Shows off the original design of the iPad Air.
  3. Apple Pencil Friendly: Fully compatible with magnetic attachment and wireless charging.
  4. Standalone Use: Designed for everyday standalone use (not made to "snap into" a Magic Keyboard).
  5. Must also support Magic Keyboard pogo pins.
Does anyone know of a manufacturer or a specific model that meets all of these conditions for the 13-inch iPad Air? Any recommendations would be a huge help!

**Apple Pencil

  3. **Apple Pencil

iPad Air (13-inch) Case Search: Frustrations & Quest for the Ultimate Clear Case

I'm currently on the hunt for a full-protection clear case for my 13-inch iPad Air, but I'm running into an extremely frustrating wall. It feels like almost every case on the market falls into one of these annoying categories:
No Apple Pencil Charging Cutout / Slot: Cases that cover the Apple Pencil charging side entirely, meaning it either won't charge or won't magnetically attach properly.
Magic Keyboard Cutout Gaps: Cases that feature massive cutouts or open sides to accommodate Apple's Magic Keyboard, completely defeating the purpose of a standalone "full-protection" case.
Not Actually Clear: Cases that are frosted, matte, tinted, or have bulky built-in screen protectors that ruin the naked look of the iPad.
What I actually want is:

  1. True Full Protection: Covers all edges and corners securely without massive gaps.
  2. Crystal Clear: Showcases the original iPad Air design.
  3. Apple Pencil Friendly: Supports magnetic attachment and wireless charging.
  4. Standalone Use: Designed for daily use on its own (not tailored to snap into a Magic Keyboard).

watch reset

I was going through the routine of handling an Apple Watch pairing/migration or OS update workflow, and I honestly have to ask: Why is Apple's approach to Apple Watch backups and device migration still so clumsy in 2026?
Unlike the iPhone, where you can easily back up, switch devices, or update with seamless delta packages, the Apple Watch often forces you into a weird loop of unpairing, creating a local backup during that unpairing process, factory resetting the watch, and then restoring it.
If you're upgrading an iPhone or dealing with certain major watchOS transitions, the friction is real. Why can't the watch handle updates and migrations more like iOS, without requiring a complete wipe and a forced backup-on-disconnect routine?
For those who understand Apple's architecture under the hood, what is the actual engineering limitation here?
Is it strictly due to the extreme constraints on storage and RAM on the watch itself?
Is it because health data, encryption keys, and active companion sync states are too tightly bound to a live local pairing database (pairedsyncd, etc.) to safely update in-place without a clean slate?
It just feels like a massive UX bottleneck for a device that's supposed to "just work." How do you guys feel about the current watch migration process? Have you run into annoying data loss or lengthy sync times when doing it? Let's discuss.

Has Apple ever officially addressed the status of old @mac.com and @me.com domains? Will they ever be recycled?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if there has been any recent news or official word from Apple regarding the long-term status of legacy @mac.com and @me.com email addresses.
As far as I know, existing users who secured these addresses way back in the day can still use them (and they automatically got @icloud.com equivalents too), but Apple stopped creating new ones a very long time ago.
Does anyone know if Apple has a policy on whether these old domains/usernames will ever be permanently decommissioned and potentially recycled or released for general availability? Or are they essentially locked forever tied to those legacy accounts?
Just curious if there's any technical or policy insight on this from past documentation or support leaks. Thanks!
