Mega CD. Belt replaced, but still no Game loading :(

Update on the repairs on my Mega-CD. I did the recap and replaced the belt, so, at least, now the disk spins and tries to be read. Still, seems like the game doesnt load :(.

Will get a lent replacement, and i hope that solves it.

Mega CD. Looking for the correct regiom free bios

Already did the recap and battery change of the console, and, while i wait for the belt replacement, i was looking to make the console region free.

Checking BIOS, i found this ones:

https://www.consolesunleashed.com/product/sega-mega-cd-region-free-bios-mod-kit/?srsltid=AfmBOor5cRKFBmdENpXTnYWBzP3pRWk7k5R8goPaereLDIO8Q04job0p&v=12470fe406d4

https://www.consolesunleashed.com/product/sega-mega-cd-region-free-multibios-mod-kit/?v=12470fe406d4

I assume that the multibios is the one, but they insist that It only works if you have a switchless region mod on the Mega Drive. It doesnt work if the mod is done with a switch?

In case it doesnt work, whitch one of the BIOS should i choose for the unibios one? Because, on the multibios one they mention that 'a few games need a specific BIOS to work'.

Oh, and about the installation. I saw that you need to solder all excep legs 38 and 39, and those ones need to be solder to the connector. Also, for the multibios one, a pair of cables need to be solder on the connector. Am i correct?

Mega CD not reading. Disk Drive pics. JVC or Sony?

Hello!

As a continuation of my last post, i took photos of the board and the disk drive, so i can difference if is Sony or JVC. No idea about the differences, so i wait answers 😂.

The caps on the connector board seems fine, but the ones on the right board looks horrible, so i will replace them for sure. I will also replace the battery, even if i dont know the use of it haha.

Got this Mega CD, and, in turn on, it ejects the disk drive automatically. The lights on the right are always the left one green, and the right one red blinking. Tried pushing the disk drive in with and without disk, and keeps pushing it out. Also, the console command to insert and ejects disk doesnt work.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Mega CD opening disk Drive without input

Got this Mega CD from zenmarket. I knew It wasnt working, but i was expecting the disk not reading or something like that. The console ejects the disk drive automatically on system turning on, and ejects It again every time it closes, with or without game. Also, the inserts/eject on console command doesnt work, i need to close it manually.

Any idea what the problem might be? I have no problem opening it for checking

Beat Ys I & II

I actually played the SMS version of I, and then this one on Turbografx CD with both I and II.

About the SMS one, i wasnt the biggest fan of the farming, but liked the gameplay, and, most of all, the bosses, even if the mayority wasnt too strong when i was allowed to damaged them.

On the Turbografx CD, i find the random enemies are wathever, even more than on SMS version (i things after this 2 games, you can actually attack, so i guess that will make them better). But, because the level cap for bosses is reduced, i found the I bosses much more fun, because i actually needed to learn patters to beat them at low level.

About II, the same problem with random enemies, but Dungeon exploration feels more fun than on the first Game (Solomon shrine was hardcore 😂).The II bosses where ok, but much less interesting (except the final one). Even when i needed farm, the game offered easy farming spots, so no problem there.

Of the 2, i enjoied more the bosses of I, but i think i like more the gameplay of 2. Still, i found the games fun to play, and not too long.

There are my first Ys games. I will try 3 and 4 next :D.

Hello!

After doing a hz switch, and a RGB output, i was looking on installing the FM sound chip mod on my Master System 2.

The mod is this one:

https://etim.net.au/shop/shop.php?crn=202&rn=538&action=show_detail

Using this adapter for Master System 2:

https://www.consolesunleashed.com/product/sega-master-system-2-fm-sound-module-adapter-pcb/?v=12470fe406d4

Checking the instructions, if im not wrong, i only need to:

-Install the adapter, soldering the correct points to the board.

-Solder the connector to the chip board.

-Connect the board with the adapter.

-Remove C31, and solder white wire to **-**ve, red wire to **+**ve, and shield to nearby ground point at the **-**ve leg of C44.

Because i already have a HZ switch, im not sure if i can work with it, or if i should remove it (resoldering the chip leg), and install the switch from the kit on the mod board.

Can someone confirm the idea i have of the mod, before i break something? haha

I played The Dynastic Hero on PC engine (Wonder Boy in Monster World), and wanted to play Wonder boy in Monster land, and end with Wonder Boy The Dragons Trap. I knew late that monster world is suppose to be the last one, so out of order it is.

My surprise playing the first 10 minutes is.... that it is the same game? The maps are the same, and i went to the fairy village and i did in Monster World. Just for testing, i also played a little of Monster World, in case i was wrong about the Dynastic Hero.... but no, is the same, even if with a few minimal changes.

So my question is.... is Monster Boy in Monster Land an upgrated version of Monster Boy in Monster World, or is just the start of the game that is simillar?

Asking because im not able to find info about this. You get the silver crown and ending for completing the songs 1 time. Then, you get red crowns and another ending for beating them again, and then, you get green crowns (no ending) for beating again each song a few times.

Wasnt able to get more crowns, so not sure if this is the Max you can get... Does someone have info about this?
