Good evening! So my Coltrane 100 6 album collection arrived today and I’m afraid to open the box.
Why? Because I’m seriously considering returning it. The way this Chick threw the box into the doorstep, which might’ve been cool but then I saw the box. Let me show you the pics and I’ll try to video respond but it might not be allowed.

Do I’m thinking that Pop market (who sells albums/CDs for Best Buy) should’ve boxed it with an outter box to protect the custom one from shipping damages? I wish I could add the video because when I saw it at work all I thought was “IKYFL”….

Oh and also my Force M. D.‘s album pretty much got the same treatment earlier this week. Might be the same Chick, but I have to check the footage on both deliveries to be sure (same seller/shipper).

Needless to say, I’m beyond pissed, I’m hot like fish grease 🤬😣🤬

Four years ago, Rasheem Carter vanished. His remains were eventually found in a wooded area, but how he got there remains unanswered.

His family has sadly carried that silence for four years. Our hearts are with them today as they remember Rasheem.

Maybe Stevie just loves September, but less than 4 years and 3 days, he blessed fans with this iconic album!

46 years ago today, Stevie Wonder released ‘Hotter than July,’ an album filled with warmth, celebration and joy.

Its “Happy Birthday” became an anthem in his campaign to establish Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Other tracks include songs that instantaneously became classics like: Lately, Rocket Love and Master Blaster!

The album is a gatefold that includes the lyrics to his songs!

Dr. King is featured on the inner sleeve along with photos of him and Civil Rights marches.

The man who invented the operation that saves babies born with blue-baby syndrome had no medical degree, no college degree, and was listed on the payroll as a JANITOR.

He guided the first operation from a stool behind the surgeon's shoulder, telling him where to cut.

Vivien Thomas. He had been saving to study medicine when the 1929 crash wiped out his savings and the bank holding them.

He took a job as a lab assistant at Vanderbilt for a janitor's wage, because that was the classification available.

Within a couple of years he was running experimental surgery — developing techniques, performing operations on his own, training surgeons.

He moved to Johns Hopkins with Alfred Blalock in 1941, where he was still paid as a janitor and had to enter through a back door.

He was the only Black man in that building not carrying a mop.

He worked out the surgical fix for tetralogy of Fallot — the condition killing infants who turned blue and died — and built the instruments for it.

The first operation on a child was in 1944. Blalock, who had never done the procedure, asked Thomas to stand behind him and talk him through it.

The surgeons on the paper became world famous. Thomas was not credited.

Hopkins hung his portrait in 1971 and gave him an honorary doctorate in 1976. Generations of surgeons he personally trained insisted on it.

He was paid as a cleaner while inventing heart surgery.

Did you know Prince Abdul Rahman Ibrahima?

Ibrahima was a prince in a region of Guinea, West Africa. He was an heir and commander of one of the most influential Kingdoms in Africa. At age 26, he led a military campaign against the Hebohs. Initially, he defeated them. But shortly after, the Hehobs ambushed his 2,000 cavalrymen. Ibrahima refused to retreat. His obstinance resulted in getting shot, captured, and enslaved.

He was sold to European traders for “two bottles of rum, eight hands of tobacco, two flasks of powder, and a few muskets “. After the sale, Prince Ibrahima was loaded onto a ship called Africa. The ship sailed to Dominica then to New Orleans. Prince Ibrahima was then transported inland to Natchez, Mississippi and sold to Thomas Foster for $950.

On the plantation, Ibrahima continued to practice Islam and was well respected among the other “slaves” and by Foster. He was given a supervisory role and an opportunity to sell vegetables at the local market. Coincidentally decades later, he ran into Dr. Cox at the market. His father had assisted Dr. Cox many years prior in Africa. Cox was lost, injured, and deserted by his vessel in Africa. Ibrahima’s family found him and nursed him back to health. Dr. Cox immediately contacted Foster and tried to “buy” Ibrahima for $1,000 so he could be free and return home. Foster refused. After Cox passed, his son tried to free Ibrahima to no avail.

At the encouragement of a local newspaperman, Ibrahima wrote a letter to his family. The letter was sent to Senator Thomas Reed, then forwarded to the US consulate in Morrocco. The consulate shared the letter with Sultan Abd' al Rahman II, who requested President John Quincy Adams release Ibrahim immediately. In 1828, Foster agreed to release Ibrahima and his wife. President Adams met with Ibrahima before he sailed home. Although Ibrahima made it back to Liberia, Africa, he never made it back to his kingdom. He died months after his arrival at age 67. He had spent 41 years in slavery.

As a vinyl collector, I will tell you that there has been a 30th birthday re-press, even though it was just re-pressed in ‘24! So, if you collect, grab yourself a copy!

But also, is anyone else feeling just a tad “dated”? 🤦🏽‍♀️

As the weekend is approaching, who has plans? I’m going up to a family gathering on Myrtle Beach for the weekend.
The Party starts tomorrow night and will continue until we depart on Monday. Nothing to bring but a bathing suit and whatever you’re drinking.
