Vicki Sue Robinson - Turn The Beat Around (1976)
Gloria Estefan did a good job but it fell just a tad short of the original by Ms. Vicki Sue Robinson! Something about this song literally does make me want to dance to the beat

This is my fave P.E. track! This is on my Road Trip playlist (well all of them actually) and of course I know it word for word ❤️✊🏾🖤✊🏾💚
🔥💃🏽🔥💃🏽🔥
This is my 3rd fave Angela Bofill song!
I Try is my #1 and Tonight I Give In is my #2!
What’s yours?
Fun Fact: Bootsy started out playing for James Brown’s band, The JB’s
Still love this song 🔥💃🏽🔥💃🏽
I’m not too big on remakes, but this one is almost as good as Stevie’s!
I miss these types of songs!
There’s something about when a Man allows himself to be vulnerable, and tells you how he really feels….
To the super talented Brotha from the Chi!
Donnell Jones has brought us several hits throughout the years! Hopefully, we’ll get some new music from him soon! If so, I’m here for it!
I was looking for something in my closet and I came across the hat box that I keep important documents in ie passport, marriage license, divorce decrees etc.
But I also keep things like the children’s artwork, handprints etc (I think that’s why my oldest daughter accuses me of hoarding 😂)
I used to have subscriptions to Essence, Ebony and Jet magazines. I miss Ebony and Jet the most. Essence, not so much, but maybe because it’s still around.
When Mrs. King, Johnny Cochran and Richard Pryor passed, I kept their Jet issue.
When President Obama was elected, I kept that coverage as well, and got my Twin (play Sister) to send me the Daily News from NY
When the King of Pop passed, I grabbed what I could.
All melanated icons who have impacted our community in one way or another. One day, I’ll teach my grandsons about all of them (plus more), because I don’t trust the education system to do so (at least not accurately).
Do you save newspaper clippings/magazines etc of today’s current events for tomorrow? Or have I turned into my grandmother? 😫
'Boycott Netflix': Michael Jackson's Biopic Just Crossed $700 Million — and Netflix Chose That Exact Moment to Drop a Bombshell That Has Fans Seeing Red
I think this is so grimy and f’ed up! Antoine Fuqua’s moving is doing very well, and the King of Pop’s discography is charting like never before! And the best their asses can do is stream this negativity? Shame on whoever’s behind this 🐂💩‼️
One of the first dolls I remember receiving was my Baby Chrissy doll! I was only allowed to play with her on Sundays! Sunday night she had to go back in the box and placed in the closet. My Momma loved that doll! She thought she was beautiful and I’m thinking that’s why it was only Sundays. It was definitely a preservation tactic, on her part. You could pull the string in her back to make her ponytail short or long! I lost Chrissy in 2014 after Momma passed.
Next, was my Tiffany Taylor doll. You could switch her hair from black to Auburn! She was definitely a glamour doll. I loved her!
And lastly, was my Diana Ross doll! She was my favorite! I was butt hurt when my cousin Wendy broke her hand off, and stayed salty for a very long time!
Did you have any of these dolls?
Hajj Malik el-Shabazz aka Malcolm X, would have been 101 years old today.
I sometimes wonder what he’d say about the tomfoolery Black Folks carry on with, and how We’re heading backwards….
I posted the Old School Swatch ad as segue to this article.
Did anyone buy one? Was it to resell or for your Personal collection?
They’re back in the news. But first, check out this commercial featuring the Fat Boys!
My oldest two had them. I don’t recall if my youngest had one or not.
It’s long but this Queen never misses her mark! Enjoy!
