Thoughts on the name Ren?

I mentioned the name Wren to my husband who immediately said he LOVED it. When I spelled it for him ("W R E N"), he looked shocked and said "oh I assumed it would be spelled Ren... I like that better".

He also like Brynn. Those are his top 2 names. I like them. I've been having a hard time finding girl names I like though. I don't like overly frilly names, and a lot of names I do like are taken already. Example, I liked the name Lily for a while but realized my cousin named her baby that...

Thoughts?

Got told our baby names were a "weak attempt at trolling" but this is my real life.

So my post got removed from another sub, which is kind of heartbreaking... I basically posted about how my hubs and I have had triplets but due to the negative reactions around us, we feel like we might've messed up with their names. My name is Lee but I've always preferred the "Leigh" spelling. I got called a "normie" in high school a lot. I didn't super get it but I got picked on because of my name a lot. It kind of fueled this resentment towards my own name and made me wish I had been named with a different, more unique spelling.

Long story short, our triplets are now 18 months old and are named Braxleigh, Kinsleigh and Laura-Leigh. No, it's not a joke. But the moms at the playground laugh at us. People in my social media comments are saying "the Leigh thing" is a cringe "millenial trend". I've been crying every night this week because it's finally gotten to me.

To make matters worse, my husband's family was saying they knew this was a bad idea from the beginning... My husband's name is Bradley which in my opinion is NOT similar to Braxleigh at all, but Brad's sister is especially disappointed by this whole name situation. I think she was expecting us to name a kid after her or something, but who does she think she is!!!

With a 4th baby on the way, do we keep with our "Leigh" tradition, or break this family curse?

In search of comfortable shoes?

My husband has shoes that are essentially disintegrating that he's owned for years and needs to upgrade his shoe closet. He is a teacher & a lifeguard, therefore on his feet all day and needs **comfortable** footwear.

Currently he is in need of:

  • A good gym shoe: a shoe he can work out comfortably in. Walk/stand several hours in at a pool deck.
  • Outdoor ankle boot: he is replacing his blundstones that don't fit very well. Something that is convenient, he often runs out and does the grocery run in his blundstones, or walks to work in rain/light snow in his blundstones. He doesn't like how blundstones look though and he finds them uncomfortable.

Let me know if you have an recommendations. Thank you!

Is it worth it to visit Curitiba on a trip to Ubatuba SP?

Will be visiting Ubatuba for a few weeks. It says on rome2rio it is an 11 hour bus ride to Curitiba. I mostly want to do the iconic train ride from Curitiba to Morretes, not sure if it is worth it.

Please let me know! Thank you

Cute & quality towels?

It doesn't need to have stripes, but just added that photo for some inspiration! Looking for something colourful, fun, and HIGH quality! Getting rid of my raggedy old towels that are like 15+ years old. And my boyfriend inherited his grandma's old towels, so those are probably a million years old... We are keeping them, but I would still like for us to have a couple more "luxurious" feeling towels, and to fill up our linen closet a bit more since we have a bit more space now.

Apparently high quality towels should be around 700+ GSM, but I'm open to anything as long as it's cute, comfy, works well, dries well, and will last! And I don't want to buy from any American brands either. Thank you!

Widow's Bay is the best show I've seen in a LONG TIME! What should I watch while I wait for Season 2?

Widow's Bay was perfection! Loved the humour and comedic elements, while also having amazing acting, fantastic writing, exceptional scenery/cinematography, and being genuinely interesting with a great storyline the entire time. It was SO GOOD. I cannot wait until Season 2.

Here are some other shows I've enjoyed. What can I watch in the meantime?

  • Wayward Pines S1
  • FROM
  • Supernatural
  • The Outsider
  • The Sinner
  • Slow Horses
  • Silo
  • Bad Sisters
  • Severance
  • Broadchurch
  • Black Snow
  • Castle Rock
  • Schitts Creek
  • Shrinking
  • The Morning Show
  • Downton Abbey
  • Haunting of Hill House

What toilet brush is the best/cleanest? I am so grossed out by the idea of toilet brushes

Is there such thing as an antibacterial toilet brush or something? As a germaphobe, I'm really struggling to find a toilet bowl brush I will be comfortable with. Please be respectful. Thanks

Home fragrance?

My partner wants a home fragrance system. We have a few Diptyque and Tsu Lange Yor candles. I have a Diptyque room spray, and a couple local reed diffusers we never use... My partner recently knocked over an entire reed diffuser, and he's cleaning it up right now as we speak... So thinking maybe a diffuser or wall plug in might be the best route.

I've heard good things about Drift and Pura - has anyone tried either of those??

Do you have a different suggestion? Thanks!

Will the Levoit Vital 200s work for a 435 ft² apartment living room?

I live in a 665 squarefoot apartment. Was thinking of getting a purifier for my bedroom (135 ft²) and for my living room (435 ft²).

Could you recommend good models for those sizes? I'm a bit confused by all of this.

Country: Canada

Filtration needs: pollen, dust, wildfire smoke, cooking smells, odours from neighbors. Trapping dirt and dust is main focus

Budget: less than $400 total

My apartment is disgusting. Neglected it for 2-3 years and tired of living in filth. Any tips for when you're depressed?

Been struggling with my mental health for the past few years. When my partner moved in with me, my place was already quite a mess. And then we combined both of our junk. So many things we said we'd "get to later", bht put them off, and our place has gotten overwhelming disgusting, cluttered, crammed, chaotic, dirty, etc. And our declining mental health has not helped. But it's gotten to a point where our place was so gross that I've developed some weird like contamination OCD or germophobia traits. Tired of living in filth.

Our den/office was unusable because we had so much crap piled up, we couldn't even walk into the room... Well we've made huge progress the last few days. The key was to lose all attachment and just chuck all the random crap we've been holding onto for whatever reason. Gave things away, made donation runs like crazy, brought down sooooo much recycling, did a big trip to the bottle depot, brought stuff to the dump. Found things we had been looking for, started a bunch of projects and completed errands and tasks we had been putting off. We even got rid of a broken couch & have our other loveseat for sale. Because we've updated this furniture, I'm feeling extra motivated to keep our place looking clean as I don't want the new couch to get dirty or stained and I'm tired of living in filth.

Any tips for maintenance when you're feeling low? I've been really motivated the last few days, but I'm scared I won't always feel this way

Other than an air purifier, what can I do about the dust, wild fire smoke, air quality, etc in my home?

I live in Alberta, Canada where it is extremely smokey. Our building also backs onto a river, and we are also walking distance to a high way, and near downtown which has a lot of construction in the summer. Because we are on the 3rd floor, we keep our windows open all the time as it gets sooo hot on the 3rd floor and we don't have central AC or anything like that. Our balcony is always filthy, even with regular cleaning of our deck furniture... Our floors are always dark and dirty near our windows, our sculptures and decor and little figurines etc are always very dusty. Even with regular cleaning, I think our location just accumulates a lot of dust and dirt! Any tips to manage this?

Thanks so much!

Need good quality shoes: 1 gym shoe, 1 outdoor all-weather shoe, 1 sandal

I understand shoes can't be "buy-it-for-life" but these will NOT be my every day shoe. I'm downsizing my closet and need to replace a few shoes that I've realized I actually *will* need. Right now, I rotate between my Salomon xt6 and my new balance shoes as my every day sneaker. I'm looking for **durable, comfortable, long lasting** recommendations for these three categories:

**1. Gym shoes**: My old thrifted Nikes are deformed and uncomfortable now. I don't work out much anymore but want to get back into it, so I'm looking for a solid, reasonably affordable gym shoe that will last. My husband also needs a pair, his are super beat up, so men's recommendations are welcome too.

**2. All-weather outdoor shoe/ankle boot (replacing Blundstones)**: I need something comfortable enough for walking to work and could stand in all day if needed (I'm a teacher), while still handling rain, slush, light snow. I liked the convenience of slip-on Blundstones, but neither my husband nor I find them comfortable, and we're both getting rid of ours. Open to any style - does not necessarily need to be a boot. I don't even really like the way blundstones look, so I'm open to anything, just needs to be comfortable!

**3. Sandals (replacing Tevas)**: My Tevas survived 6 months of backpacking through Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean, and Brazil, so they've had a good life, but they're worn out and never looked cute. They're the off-white/cream rubber tevas, so I've taken them on hikes, swam with them and used them as a water shoe, etc. For a new sandal I'd love something that's:

- Comfortable for all-day walking (durable and travel-friendly)

- Cute enough to dress up a bit

- (not necessary, but bonus if it is able to handle a bit of water if needed)

I was recently recommended the Camper Dana sandals as a cute, comfortable, "fancy sandal" but they were leather and too narrow in the toe box. I'm open to something that's leather as I probably won't be taking the sandals on any hikes or traveling any time soon.

If you have any recommendations for any of these categories, I'd really appreciate them! Thank you

Air Doctor vs Levoit? Wildfire smoke?

For a 665 squarefoot apartment, which air purifier brand/model would you recommend?

Rule 4 compliance:

Country - Canada

Room sizes: apartment is 665 squarefeet

Filtration needs: dust, wildfire smoke, dirt, pollen, cooking odors

Budget: under $300 CAD per unit

I've heard Air Doctors and Levoits are the best. Which is the better brand? Or do you have another option you'd recommend?

Wild fire smoke (Canadian) and dusty downtown apartment? Which purifier is best?

Hi friends. I live in a 665 ish squarefoot apartment in Canada. My balcony (on 3rd floor) is constantly really dusty so I don't spend much time on it. But the 3rd floor is really hot, so we keep our windows open pretty much 24/7. I realize all that same dust is probably coming right in. Our building is on a river, and we're somewhat near a highway (11 minute walk to the highway, includes crossing the bridge) and we're on the outskirts of downtown where there is a lot of construction at times.

We also live in Alberta, where the forest fire smoke gets really intense EVERY summer :( Last year, it was so unbelievably hot, but we couldn't open our windows at all due to the smoke. We just installed a window-AC unit, so I bet the smoke will start coming in regardless.

What is a good, (AFFORDABLE) air purifier that uses a true HEPA filter and maybe even has a really good carbon filter that could be good for a 665 sqf apartment? I'd be happy to get 2 (one just for the bedroom) if they weren't too too expensive. We have 3 windows total. 1 window in bedroom, 1 window in den/office, and 1 balcony door in our living room.

Room sizes in inches:

Bedroom: 115" x 168"

Bathroom: 60" x 115"

The rest of the apartment is the remainder of whatever is left over from the original 665sqf. Other then bedroom & bathroom, the rest is all open concept, pretty much. The small den (not big enough to be considered a bedroom, but fits a desk and shelf) has no door and opens up to the big rectangular room (dining area/living room, and kitchen, and then front door).

Ceiling height: 8 feet tall.

Budget: as cheap as possible, while still meeting my needs and doing an exceptional job at keeping the air clean and the apartment dust & smoke free. I don't mind spending $150 CAD on a bedroom purifier, and $250 CAD on one for the main living room. But the cheaper, the better. My seasonal job ended so I'm currently unemployed until September.

Thanks for the help!

Stainless steel from Soos Atelier?

I keep getting Instagram Ads for Soos Atelier. They have a bunch of cutlery/utensils, kitchen ware, plates, bowls, coffee sets that are all made of stainless steel. *"Our stainless steel collection is crafted from premium food-grade 18/10 stainless steel, known for its durability and resistance to rust and corrosion."*

I particularly like their cutlery with the swirl end. I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm an artist and I like "different" things. Our current collection of spoons and forks are all mismatched and prongs are bent as they were all either thrifted or items we 'stole' from our parents when we moved out. Would love to add in some cute, high quality silverware.

My partner said to not buy these if they aren't Dishwasher Safe (cannot figure out if they are...) as he said it would be a waste of money as we primarily use the dishwasher over hand-washing.

Has anyone purchased from them before and can anyone tell me if the quality is worth the price tag, or if there is any way to tell whether or not it is good quality? Or dishwasher-safe?

Thanks for the help!
