IM 24F originally from Norway but moved to the us by myself a little over a year ago.

I understand how important networking is for getting a job but I’ve been struggling to make it actually lead somewhere. I’ve attended events, reached out on LinkedIn and had 1 o 1 meetings with some very successful people. I’ve received great advice and feedback, but it hasn’t turned into any job opportunities so far.

I currently work at a very small company where my coworkers also don’t really have strong networks, so I’m trying to build one outside of work. The issue is that even when I meet the right people, the connections don’t seem to continue or develop into anything useful.

I’m trying to figure out how to build a network that doesn’t just stay at the a good conversation stage, but actually leads to referrals or job opportunities.
Would greatly appreciate any advice!

Im 24F, originally from Norway but now live in Austin Texas. I have worked in sales across different countries and I’ve worked in marketing here in the us. My work visa just expired so I’m going back to school and I’m only allowed to work part time my first year because of my visa. I really wanna get back into sales but I’m not sure if it’s possible to only do part time.

What’s the best way to get into tech or medical sales in Austin?

I’m a 24F and I just moved to Austin and I feel so behind compared to everyone else. I’m originally from Norway and I’m in the US on a visa which definitely complicates things. I spent my own money to pay my tuition in LA at UCLA and then got an internship. The only way for me to say in the us was to start studying again so I decided to go to community college because it’s cheap and after one year I can start working again. However living in Austin it feels like everyone is so successful and making so much money while I’m just at community college and can’t do anything else my first year.

How is everyone so successful?

For example I have gotten the middle finger right in my face when I’m just minding my business. I’ve had guys poke my shoulder and when I turn around to look at them they turn away really fast and when I look away they start doing it again and it’s some sort of game. I’ve had guys ask me to buy them drinks and also guys that have called me weird and A sexual because I didn’t wanna sleep with them the first time we meet. Sometimes when I’ve confronted them I have gotten back that I’m boring and should go home if I can’t have fun.

I’m usually out with my girlfriends and it doesn’t seem to happen to them but only me and I don’t know why they do this. I got very insecure last time it happened because it feels like they are making fun of me when I’m just there trying to have fun by poking my shoulders and just trying to annoy me.

I want to add that I’ve had really good encounters too but this has been happening more lately and I’m not sure what they want out of it and why they are specifically targeting me?

I 25F have been single for many many years. The only real relationship I’ve had only lasted a few months. I’m very in love with love and really want a relationship but never seem to get one. I put myself out there but I always just see to attract men that only want one thing from me and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I got a great career, I don’t dress in a way that screams I’m only looking for hookups (even tho you can dress that way and not look for that) and I’m very upfront that I do want a relationship.

I recently dated two guys and one ended up getting a gf and only wanted to hookup with me and the other one ghosted me when it got to serious after months of talking. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and fear it will stay like this forever. I only sleep with guys I’m serious with which I tell these men to but they don’t think that rule applies to them.

I’ve been working out for 4 years now. I used to work out 6-7 days a week and was super disciplined. Took all the supplements, dieted hard and was very hard on myself about skipping the gym for all those years.

Now I’ve honestly become bored of it. I go just to go but I don’t take anything else besides creatine. I do count kcal but I’m not to hard on myself if I want a sweet treat now and then and I also love to cook so I eat what I enjoy and not only what has the least fat and the most protein. I’ve become way worse at going to the gym and have become better at skipping it. I wish I could become consistent again and love it like I used to but I just don’t. Has anyone experienced this before and is it just a phase or is it the end of my gym life.

I know this question has an obvious answer but sometimes it’s easier said than done. I’m with a guy that has not been treating me as good as I deserve (not anything harmful or serious) mostly forgetting about our plans to hang with the boys, never prioritizing me and I feel like a shadow in his life. If we are doing something we adapt it after his schedule even tho i would say im busier then him. When I bring it up it’s my fault because “it’s not that serious”.

I know it’s bad but deep down I do love him and I fear I will never find anybody else because I’ve been single most of my life and fear I will continue to be single and never find that person for me.

I’m a little bit stressed about money. I used to have more savings but decided to invest in myself. I moved alone to the US, went to school and spent a lot of money on tuition and this got me a work visa so I’m currently living and working in the US. I’m not making a lot currently but I’m trying to save the best that I can while also living a fun life.

What’s the average saving of a 24 year old and what tips would you give someone my age about money?
