What’s one big opportunity at USyd that students should take advantage of?
I feel like there are so many things happening on campus that most people just don’t really tap into. Between programs, exchanges, research stuff and societies, it’s easy to just stick to classes and miss a lot of it. Is there one opportunity or resource here that you think more students should actually take advantage of before they graduate?
Which profession secretly has the hardest time getting a home loan despite earning decent money?
Which jobs tend to cause the biggest headaches for lenders even when the applicant earns decent money?

How long are Qantas refund requests actually taking lately?
I submitted a refund request over a month ago after a flight cancellation and the portal still just says “processing” with absolutely no further updates or estimated timeframe. Starting to wonder whether this is just the normal backlog at the moment or if I should actually bother calling the support line to chase it up.
Why does the app flat out refuse to let you swap out potato and gravy in a box meal?
I just want to change it for an extra serving of chips or even a coleslaw without the digital system having a complete meltdown or trying to charge me full price for a standalone side. Let us customise the boxes properly!
What is something that instantly makes a bloke's outfit look cheap?
For me it is those ultra tight, spray on skinny chinos paired with a heavily branded polo shirt and no socks
Why do lenders always freak out over the most minor line items?
I had an underwriter raise a formal query yesterday because a client had three consecutive transactions for a local pet grooming service on their statement. They wanted written confirmation that this wasn't an undisclosed ongoing business liability. It feels like the credit teams are looking for absolutely any tiny excuse to reject a file rather than using basic common sense
Is it worth upgrading to the ultimate awards credit card?
Looking at the points system on the Ultimate Awards card to see if it justifies the monthly fee. The travel insurance inclusions look decent on paper but I have heard mixed reviews about actually trying to claim through their provider. Has anyone actually found the point racking worth the squeeze?
What PC component do you think people massively overspend on for almost no real-world benefit?
For me it’s probably motherboards. Once you get beyond a decent mid range board, it feels like you start paying hundreds extra for features most people never touch, yet people still treat them like they massively affect performance
The python definitely won this round

What’s the biggest difference you notice between Qantas and Virgin these days?
I’ve flown both a few times over the past year and it honestly feels like the gap between them is way smaller than it used to be. Qantas still has the stronger reputation internationally, but domestically I sometimes struggle to justify the price difference depending on the route
What is the one menu item they quietly removed that you still actively miss?
It has been long enough now that we need to talk about the absolute tragedy of losing Krushers. Society has honestly done nothing but slide backwards ever since they quietly killed off the Golden Gaytime and Kookies n Kream flavours
Is the Sydney First Lounge still worth it in the morning rush?
Heading through SYD T1 on Wednesday morning and trying to decide if it’s still worth going into the First Lounge. Heard it used to be pretty calm and top tier, but not sure if the morning rush has made it a bit more hectic lately or if it’s still a solid spot to relax before a flight
What’s the biggest culture shock for people moving here from Sydney or Melbourne?
A mate of mine is moving up from Sydney soon and keeps talking like everything here will work the same, just with more beaches. I keep trying to explain that the pace is completely different. Stuff closes earlier, traffic somehow still exists despite everyone saying it’s relaxed, and people seem way less obsessed with rushing everywhere. What was the biggest adjustment for you?
If someone tells you they live out in woop woop, this is what they mean
For me it’s the toasted sandwich. Had one in the Sydney domestic lounge today and it was rough. Bread was stale, ham was paper thin, and it tasted like it had been sitting there for ages. It used to be a safe option but now it’s just a bit sad compared to what it used to be
I’ve been using cordless tools for about 5years but I’m starting to question it after running through three batteries mid job on Sunday, then grabbing an old corded Bosch drill from the garage and getting consistent full power straight away, which made me realise I’m usually working close to a power point anyway and might be overpaying for batteries and chargers just to avoid a lead, so now I’m wondering if it makes more sense to keep cordless for smaller stuff like an impact driver and go back to corded for things like a circular saw, grinder, or sander
I’ve run the numbers a dozen times. Even with the admin fees, the GST saving on the purchase price and the pre-tax running costs still put me $4k ahead per year. Is there any scenario where a chattel mortgage wins for an EV right now?
I’m here for a month and want to stay for the festival. I just checked and half the Hobart Airbnbs are already $500/night. Am I better off staying in Kingston or Glenorchy and commuting in for the Feast?
