Rockrider ST20 High Frame vs Low Frame

M, 5'8", ~70 kg, relearning cycling after ~20 years.

Bicycle will be used **almost exclusively for city commutes**, and I can't mount/dismount easily as of right now.

I feel practice will help.

Just by eyeballing, doesn't look like the low frame will feel as tight/rigid as the high frame, but the added convenience is certainly tempting.

Which should I get?

If all goes well, I'm visiting a Decathlon store tomorrow and getting one of these. Wish me luck!

Weird Question

Please bear with me here.

Hi

I'm a recently graduated dentist from India, with some free time on my hands, so was thinking about gathering some diverse skills to hopefully make some moolah on the side.

I have negligible prior experience with coding, but otherwise know my way around computers. My dad and one of my friends are programmers but they don't seem too interested to teach me, so I'm on my own.

Realistically, how long to make my Python coding skills marketable?

MODS, I hope my post does not violate any of the rules.

I Believe This is What Being Burnt Out Feels Like

Its hasn't been physcially exhausting so far, but I feel tired. I'm becoming sloppy.

I believe it's the pressure to do well, to turn up everyday, to keep up appearances.

Even after putting in the effort, patients aren't coming back. I hear from new patients that some of my older patients are doing well and even recommended they come see me, but those longtime patients themselves haven’t come back.

What to do now?

Best Side Hustles for Non_techie

I have no skills besides my profession, so will have to learn everything.

Sorry for being blunt, but which side hustles provide the most buck for the effort? Even a career pivot is not off the cards if its worth it.

Possibly Misdiagnosed Patient

Patient reported with mild extra oral swelling in that region. The RCT wrt 14 is 10 years old. It has to be caused by this right?

I actually did 2 blunders yesterday.

Blunder #1: I was so focused on the abutments that I missed 14 completely 🤦. It is only after they left that I took another look at the radiograph and realised. How do I fix things?

At least now that the cause is identified, the patient can get the proper treatment.

Nevertheless, I have decided to come clean and throw in a propylaxis free of charge.

Blunder #2: Charged another patient for 1 extraction what I actually did 2 🤦.

Growing pains I guess.

Third Mock Test

After a month of no preparation, and the first with sectional timer. Really was not prepared for that.

Struggled a lot in maths, haven't yet learned/practised geometry, mensuration or interest.

Probably still better than my 2nd mock test with 99/200 without sectional timer.

How to improve?

Looking for Alternative Sources of Income

Got my registration in January of this year and currently operating my clinic only in the evenings. As of this point, the earnings from it have been negligible and widely variable.

In the mornings, I'm currently (telling myself that I am) preparing for govt jobs but there's so much uncertainty.

What more can I do to earn some more moolah? If possible, I'd like to do things not related to dentistry, it doesn't pay well at this time.

How do I utilise my clinic to its full potential?

Time is of the essence, and we all know how much of it this career requires.

Help Regarding Refund

I ordered an item on April 29, which arrived on May 5. The next day, the Jeeves technician discovered defects and scheduled it for replacement. As of that point, the order for the replacement was on hold.

The defective item was picked up on May 7, and the return was approved. The status of the replacement was still on hold, and could not be cancelled. I called them and was told that it could be done once the order got confirmation about 8 hours later. It did, but it still couldn't be done.

Problem is that the replacement is due to arrive too late, and I don't want to have to wait that long. My money is also tied up with them, with no certainty that the replacement is going to be flawless.

At the same time, the price of same item has gone down significantly.

What are my options?

I have asked the factory to cancel it from their end and they have yet to get back to me. The invoice shows less money than I paid.

Everyone will probably go, "Told you so" but it's still sad.

26M, 5'8": I ordered a newly released basic 26" bicycle for ₹5.3k from Flipkart which arrived after a long wait of 6 days (yesterday) and today while attempting to assemble it, the (frankly sloppy) Flipkart technician discovered misaligned front forks, among other little quality issues, preventing installation of the wheel.

As of now, I have a couple of options:

  1. Get the replacement after 2 long weeks, but honestly don't want to wait so long
  2. Arrange for replacement forks and make do with it; have emailed them let's see
  3. Increase budget to ~₹7k and get something with 29"/700C wheels offline, as everyone recommends; have planned to do so on Monday but the "hub" is too far from home
  4. I've shortlisted another 700C ("hybrid") bicycle online for ₹7k in case I don't find good deals offline, but it has mechanical disc brakes and will receive it after another long week
  5. Go with Btwin My Bike for ₹7k even though it has single walled 26" wheels; at least we know it's reliable
  6. Look for second life Riverside 120 in my budget, but worried about gear maintenance

Second hand otherwise is not an option owing to stupid deals in my city.

It's heartbreaking honestly. I waited so eagerly for so long, just to be denied.

I started seriously preparing for CGL from March, around the time I opened my (dental) clinic, because I was really scared and sceptical of its performance. I bought 3 books (English, Maths, Fatman), subscribed to Rajesh Yadav sir's course, and was considering getting a pass for Testbook too.

Among other things, my clinic performed beyond anybody's expectations in the second month itself and I started getting complacent and undisciplined. I stopped studying and working out.

Today an incident occurred and it occurred to me that money and stability are arguably the most important things in one's career or even life.

I'm aiming for 2027, and I've wasted enough time already. So far I've attempted only 2 mock tests, and ~70% of the syllabus is left.

What is the way forward? Is there hope for me yet?

I'm mentally not in a position to click photos right now, so please bear with me.

2025 Baleno, damaged the rear right door and fender while driving into garage.

Panels dented and paint scrubbed off.

Parents aren't home, I had the responsibility of dropping them off and driving home.

What are my choices?

I know I'll get a hell of a scolding when they return and frankly, I deserve it. They specifically told me not to get it into the garage, but I did it anyway.

I'll probably never drive a car again.

I was interested in attempting CAT but have put it on hold for now largely because of my unimpressive profile (9/8/5) and not having anything to do with maths for 8 years. Am currently preparing for SSC exams.

Just got an email about Amity University's Online MBA programme.

Is it something worth considering? How are the placements?

A distance degree will enable me to continue operating my clinic (am a dentist), which would not have been possible otherwise.

I had ordered a bicycle from them (don't remember if it was F Assured) on April 25, which was due to be delivered on May 3, after which it was stuck at "Seller has processed your order" for 3 days before it got cancelled on April 28. I was promptly refunded the amount, no complaints there.

I checked the listing again and its now showing as out of stock. I checked the manufacturer website and it was the same there as well.

That night itself (yesterday night) I ordered another similarly specced bicycle from the same manufacturer (this time it's F Assured) and it's still showing "Seller has processed your order", to be shipped on April 30 and delivered on May 5 (lost 2 days here).

A lock I had ordered alongside the first bicycle is moving fast. Currently it has left the facility of my city, due to be delivered on May 1.

My anxiety is peaking.

I've even called the manufacturer and confirmed that the first bicycle is indeed not available anymore and that there is no such problem for the second one. So I should, in theory, be able to recieve it.

I'd appreciate some insight into this. Thank you!

PS: For anyone thinking why I bothered and didn't just buy one offline: Got a better deal, I'm not an idiot.
