A social worker has claimed that he was taken aside by police for questioning after distributing tea to people at a CJP protest.

According to him, the police asked where the money for the tea was coming from, who was funding the activity, and whether he was associated with any organization. He said he explained that he was paying for the tea from his own pocket as part of his regular social service work and also shared details about his foundation.

The social worker claims that after verifying his explanation, the police allowed him to leave.

If this account is accurate, it raises an interesting question: Should providing food or tea at a public protest automatically invite suspicion, or is it reasonable for the police to verify whether organized funding is involved? Where should the line be drawn between legitimate inquiry and discouraging voluntary social service?
