In your opinion what is the best Digimon game?
For me (currently working my way through them all) it's been World - Re:Digitize.
Amazing levels of player/partner interaction through just each-other or the progressing world, fun mechanics that are fair but still challenging enough to encourage replayability, a solid variety of Digimon, solid story and really memorable characters.
The game can be a little obtuse or obnoxious in areas but it doesn't even come close to ruining the amazing vibe it has overall. Training is genuinely fun, finding new evolutions is genuinely fun, MOST of the unfun parts of the game can be done away with simply by progressing far enough to get items and town-upgrades that turn you from a bumbling tamer into a god-tier hacker who has full control over the digital world.
I think around the mid-late point of the game items can KIND-OF ruin the balance, especially if you do the coliseum stuff, but that's always up to you how you use them, and if you intend to get all the evolutions and play into new-game plus you still need to use an entire playthrough's worth of items sparingly so you don't just run out. Overall it's got a lot of the charm and ALL the depth of the OG Digimon world just with enough QOL and intuitive features to make it not feel like a painful, slog just to progress on your first playthrough.
