Dear single women, how are you getting your physical needs met?

I (38f) have the friendships, the hobbies etc. But I've been single for a long time and the massages, weighted blankets, salsa dancing is not really doing it for me any more.

I'd love to meet my person but thats been unsuccessful. Short of hookups(which I haven't done in a very long time) i dont know what else to do. Celibacy for the amount of time I've been doing it almost feels unhealthy at this point to me.

Are hookups the only way? I'm specifically looking to know how single women in your 30s are coping?

Ugh, help a sista out.

Edit* people are recommending toys. which ones? where?

Hinge plus app for folks in NYC?

(38f) I'm wondering what NYC folks think of the hinge plus app? Does it make a difference to the quality of matches you get? I've taken a long hiatus of OLD and am wondering if it's worth it going back but with a premium subscription instead to avoid the usual issues.

Thoughts?

Are mixed signals from a man an answer in and of itself?

I need a guy's opinion on this.

I asked a man out in the gym. We texted and he seemed interested to the point where he said " I'm glad you said something, I thought you were really cute".

I stopped texting when it felt like I was putting in more effort than he was. I've moved on but I wonder, are mixed signals from a man an answer in and of itself?

I suggested a gym date and he didn't follow up with a date/time.

Have you ever been interested in a girl and also not put in the effort? Is that possible?

For context I'm in my late 30s and he's probably in his mid 30s.

I'm considering whether to rent my 2nd bedroom to a colleague who sits a few desks from me.

I know them reasonably well and it'd be for a few months. I own my apartment which is a coop and I'd have to inform the board which is fine.

My one question is : can I charge whatever rent I want? It wouldn't be egregious but it'd be covering about 60 to 70 percent of my carrying costs (mortgage plus maintenance and utilities)

My unit is not rent controlled or stabilized.

Hi, I own a 2 bedroom and am figuring out how to make use of the extra room and still maintain my privacy. The only idea I've come up with renting the 2nd bedroom out for short term stays 2 to 3 months.

  1. What do I need to be aware of before doing this?

  2. What paperwork do I need to process on the person other than background checks, credit history and having a strong renters agreement?

  3. Anyone done this and have experiences to share.

Any ideas on what to do with the 2nd bedroom would also be great!

It's now happened with 2 men. Both were great, both were going well and eventually both petered out because we couldn't do the distance any more.

It's been frustrating given that dating in nyc is hard enough. I assumed NJ would be good to branch out too and no dice.
