As someone who makes games, I'm truly in awe of what Alkimia has done!

I've been a solo indie dev for well over 8 years. I've released 3 titles so far (Dark Roll, Dark Roll: Free Kick Challenge, J-Jump Arena), working on my fourth (Dark Roll 2). My games have been streamed by xQc, were recorded by Smi77y (videos reaching few millions views).

Flexing aside, I just wanted to show my gratitude for what everyone working in Alkimia has achieved... Making games is hard! Not programming, not 3D modelling, not graphic design, but having it all come together with a well thought out game and gameplay design to provide a proper experience for the player... in my opinion, it's art.

And Gothic Remake is not just a good game. It's nostalgia evolved. I'm 10+ hours in and I feel as if I am a teen again - reliving the experience while also having bunch of new content in! What I'm getting at, this game is so different yet feels and play so same as the original, it's truly a game design, and hell, even psychological masterpiece for them to achieve that.

Sure, there are some bugs here and there, I could say it's just like Gothic had these, but what I want to point out instead is that the game just released and, at least in my experience, there's nothing game breaking or anything that would ruin the fun - and we should truly appreciate that, looking at so many other big releases.

We all should be truly honored Gothic Remake happened.

I hope it performs well, and that the franchise gains tons of new followers, and that we get Gothic 2 remake some years in the future.

Cheers to Alkimia! If anyone from the team is reading this - THANK YOU - from one dev to another.

Scar = Marvin?

In polish version, Marvin from Myrtana Chronicles and Scar in the remake are dubbed by the same actor... When you ask him for his name he says "I am Ma... They call me Scar."

Is this cameo? Is it the same in other language versions? They look pretty alike, too.

Honest discussion... Why?

Don't get me wrong, I want as many characters added into the game as possible - and I am glad he's coming. But... whenever I think about the upcoming DLC, I just wonder who the hell sat down by the table and came with the most brilliant of ideas - "Let's add Tora."

Fasha makes sense - she's a returning character, and before Super, she was the only female sayian of any importance. My memory might be foggy, but I don't recall Tora standing out any more than the other members of Bardock's team. He doesn't really have a fanbase either.

All other characters revealed make sense to me. Tora will make senes, if we're also getting other Bardock team members, Kibito, Mr. Popo, Kami, Hero (Kami in disguise), Vados, adult Chi Chi. If that doesn't happen, I can't help but feel he's one of the most random picks they could have made... Hell, Yakon and Pui Pui would make more sense to me.

TL;DR
I'm happy he's coming, but I can't, in my sane mind, find a reasonable explanation for him joining the roster.

What do you guys think?

500 wishlists in 2 months for my soulslike inspired ballrolling game!

I've landed 200 wishlists in two days, but ever since then it's truly been a grind. I'll get maybe 2-3 wishlists a day without posting anything. When I do, I had most success on reddit - but even then, with tens thousands of views, I'll get maybe 20-30 wishlists in a matter of two days. I've had little to no luck with posting shorts on youtube, tiktok or instagram. Just wanted to share my experience, as I always enjoy reading what other devs have to say!

I’ve been working on a soulslike-inspired marble game (for lack of a better description), and I’ve just finished the first boss encounter.

The goal is to take that familiar Souls-style tension: pattern recognition, positioning, and learning through failure, and translate it into a 3D platformer where your character is… a rolling sphere. It’s been an interesting challenge to make that feel responsive and fair while still keeping the difficulty and weight those games are known for.

I’d love to hear what you think! Especially if anything stands out, good or bad. Feedback at this stage is incredibly helpful.
