Drum Cover - “Headless Cross” by Black Sabbath

This was one of my late dad’s favorite ‪Black Sabbath‬ tunes from the Tony Martin era. The entire “Headless Cross” album was top-shelf, and with the incomparable late Cozy Powell on drums, there was little room to go wrong with any of it!!

Hope you enjoy my take on the title track from the 1989 release “Headless Cross”.

Scud the Dragon lands in Danby, NY!!! The most fascinating cloud formation I've ever photographed and I didn't even have to leave my backyard! I watched this ordinary supercell transform into an extraordinary dragon created out of scud clouds!

Captured these in front of our former house 9 years ago - Columbia, MO

Absolutely beautiful storm front moving through at sunset. It was incredible… felt like “Independence Day”!!!

Love my kids… so dang much

We have a little hilltop in the middle of our subdivision in Columbia, MO, where I caught some amazing silhouette pics of my daughter dancing around against a sunset backdrop a few months ago. She had so much fun doing that that she asked the last time we went for a walk, with her big brother in tow, if they could do that again together. I took a bunch of pics and they all turned out great, but this one is my favorite. My daughter is 6.5yo and my son is 11.5yo, and being their dad had been the single greatest experience of my lifetime.

Drum Cover - “6:00” by Dream Theater

As a teenager, this was my “anthem tune” when it was play-along time in my drum dungeon (aka my parents’ basement). I knew every lick, every kick, every trick to this dang track. The “Awake” album was one of Dream Theater’s very best, from start to finish, in my opinion. Hats-off to the incredible Mike Portnoy for one of the most iconic drum intros and creative 4/4 grooves of the prog genre.

So, here’s my take on DT’s “6:00” from their 1994 release “Awake”, with its little hiccups here and there. (Bear with me… it’s been a long time and I’m old now! 🥴)

Drum Cover - “Brainless” by The Urge

Growing-up in St. Louis, watching ‪The Urge‬‘s rise in the professional artist arena was exciting for all of us budding musicians. We’d all heard of folks who “made it” coming from L.A., NYC, Nashville… but not STL. Their stuff was edgy, energetic, fun, groovy, and had a flare about it that fit with the soundtrack of the era. And for the band to be homegrown and members of the band - to this day - still hangin’ out around STL is pretty cool!

Here’s my take on one of my favorite tunes off their 1996 release “Receiving The Gift Of Flavor”. Enjoy!!
