Any Pro-AIs here that have limits on how they use and accept it?

So I am in the category of an AI user and enthusiast that is also an artist who hand-draws work both traditionally and digitally with a few sales and exhibitions under my belt. I have MANY concerns about AI and am ethically torn on a lot of concerns of the industry boom/bubble/whatev

I love AI, as a collaboration partner and use it strictly as a brainstorming, visualisation hobby as well as some dumb fun and verbal help. I refuse to use AI in any way for end-production or monetised content. For example, I started a character design and art toy project strictly hand-drawn by me and me only, and outsourcing some elements to human artists (not AI). I've strictly only used AI to help with some business ideas and work out ways to approach the project. no image generation in any part of the process whatsoever

I believe a human CAN use AI for their work but strictly to help in ideas and concepts. I also believe local AI on a GPU is the way to go to not support corpos and harmful datacenters.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you pro AI and have your ethical limits on how you use? are you Anti but accept it in some ways?

I rated every single upcoming arcade racing game including extreme sports and kart racers by how good they seem to me

The full list in text form + thoughts:

very, very promising-

freeway fever (procedurally genned Burnout 🤤 )

hyperyuki (my most hyped game currently)

aster league 2179 (demo is SICK)

hyperfunk (technically not racing but loved BRCF and its Extreme sports sooo)

project gt (no logo atm, sadly probs gacha...)

promising-

wreckreation 2 (donating to their Patreon because I have hopes mmkay?)

star wars galactic racer (Don't care about Star Wars but this looks siiiiick)

tricky madness (got the early access, definitely promising)

cautiously optimistic-

super woden gp 3 (good so far and im looking forward to it sorta)

hot wheels infinite rush (Milestone hardly misses but it looks a little bland so far but fun-looking)

carveout 2160 (a cool take on SSX but might miss the mark if they aren't careful)

cautious-

clutch (promising but I can tell its gonna be a flop if the stars don't align somehow)

crazy taxi world tour (AI in end-production I'm against. I hope the lead is right about it only being concept art and such but it doesn't seem like it...)

overdrive (I would love a good Motorstorm successor but looks a little asset-flippy atm)

project stampede (Like above, but it might have the passion to be worthy)

wreckfest 2 (wreckfest has always been ehhhh to me, ive got early access for this so im hoping the full-release changes my mind)

not interested-

kaido genkai (kinda bland an weeby... ehhh)

night-runners (didn't like the demo, it was a bit underwhelming and TXR will always be superior imo despite not being into that much either)

Today on "aged like milk"

I remember when Nerdslayer made not one, but TWO videos discussing "the death of Overwatch". Apparently he is pretty good at video essays but after the second soon after OW2 launched, it was just getting outright silly. Like, he was only supposed to post games that ACTUALLY died but OW had no indicator of death whatsoever.

Fast forward 3 years since his second video, the game is the liveliest its ever been since launch and in one of its best states ever.

I remember when the second vid came and I was raging about it and in full 5 stages of grief mode, turns out he was wrong all along.

Me tomorrow:

everyone's videos (including mine I did earlier) is blowing me tf away. The motion for both realistic and anime is SOTA by a long shot for open source models, it knows "anatomical physics" even better than finetuned WAN 2.2, which is my go to rn for 🌽 and LTX 2.3 can't do anything remotely well outside of talking heads. I can't FUCKING WAIT until 2am tomorrow night my time (according to modelscope) for H3 to launch open and uncensored. I will be waking up then and skipping work lol.

"Chromea", a Chroma-based lora for Krea2 training currently and is already very usable.

Huggingface direct download: https://huggingface.co/estrogen/silveroxides-Chromea_LoRA

Just got pinged on Lodestone's discord server and it is a much better alternative to Mystic and other uncensor loras at the time I've been using it. It is still training but it's already VERY good.

Admit it, how many times have you not fallen off or crashed on this bridge in White Mountain in Burnout Revenge??

Throughout my entire playthrough rn I'm pretty sure I've only survived this bit once or twice, and I am rank 7! It's such a brutal part of the track, and is the hardest bit out of an track in the entire game. I just can't drive it without crashing multiple times. the road rage at rank 5 was a fucking nightmre because I almost total my car on this damm bridge at the beginning.

so relentless. D:

Apparently we are seeing Season 4 news this weekend during the OWCS Paris, When you think Dmon will be revealed? I'm hoping tonight

3am PDT/12pm CEDT/8pm AEST is the time it'll begin tonight, going until August 2. When you guys think the reveals will be? Excited for Dmon?

Also, those 16 somethings sound like OWCS team skins like OWL ones. And I wonder why the map devs are there too. :P

Skins based on decade aesthetics, favourite? which decade/aesthetic do you wanna see more of?

So I'm a bit hyperfixated on decade-specific fashion aesthetics and made these infographics. I missed a few, I'm sure.

There are a couple aesthetics that I noticed were sorely missing or have little reputation, some of the ones I noticed that I would love to see more of include:

1990s-2000s afro-gangsta aesthetic- literally nonexistant. No durags, grilles, white singlets with gold chains and cargos. I can kinda get why as it maybe a little "cultural-appropriation" if done wrong plus some implications from that time.

1950s rockabilly/greaser/pinup- it boggles my mind the most that Dva is the sole hero to have a rockabilly skin. We literally have zero male greaser skins and so many heroes are cut out absolutely perfect for the rockabilly aesthetic. Soldier, Hazard, Zarya and Junker Queen especially. Rockabilly is my absolute favourite aesthetic from the last century. I hope we get a whole battle pass or something dedicated to it, especially in the summer. Hell, give us a pinup-girl Juno or something, would sell like hotcakes at this rate.

So lets discuss!

Whats your fav aesthetic you wanna see in Overwatch? any decade or aesthetic that stands out to you from these lists + others I may have missed?

U/Dangerous-Town2195 is the hero we needed, outright mogged former Criterion themselves with Freeway Fever

I was the one who made the post praising FF‘s initial demo a few weeks ago leading the dev to show an update this week. I have to say, YOU mate have completely mogged Three Fields’ work tenfold to make a much better Burnout successor than Wreckreation and Dangerous Driving put together, hell even the hour or two I’ve played of the current demo from last year is the most fun I’ve had with a racing game this decade and the closest I’ve ever felt to the OG Burnout games.

you my friend, may have saved this goddamn genre.

On the topic of Overwatch's strength against competitors, IMO we don't realise how much better we have it from the standpoint of original worldbuilding and charm

When comparing Overwatch to other hero shooters, we are always looking at how polished the gunplay is or fun, teamwork factor. I feel there's an appeal Overwatch has that other players don't realise.

The original world, characters, art and overall personality is exactly, IMO what is Overwatch's biggest strength when comparing to other hero shooters or even multiplayer games in general.

Valorant is 99% JUST sweaty esports focus with laughably little worldbuilding

Apex Legends is close but very ugly aesthetic that bogs it down

Marvel's is well, Marvel. An EXTREMELY oversaturated superhero franchise that while deeper than Overwatch, has caused massive fatigue for a lot of pop culture enthusiasts and the game is just riding on the franchise with a touch of goonable skins

Deadlock has potential but I don't see it being anywhere near as appealing world-wise to Overwatch.

Overwatch just feels so interesting and charming compared to any other multiplayer game on the market period. Blizzard just really struck gold here which is why I'm seldom against collabs as it kinda "cheapens" what we got and breaks immersion for a quick buck. However, cosplay skins are a much more sensible way to put other IPs into Overwatch than entire core heroes or maps, which will be gamebreaking for me.

Are Queue times actually much quicker during this experiment? My queues in OCE on DPS at 11am AEST were super quick, 4 minutes max. I usually wait 10+ minutes at this time of day

is it just me? I reluctantly started playing the 6v6 QPH and actually ended up enjoying it. One of the biggest reasons why I am finding this mode so good is the queue times are so much quicker than usual. I've done 4-5 games this morning at 10-11:30am and find matches within a minute or two, even on DPS. Even tho its the weekend, usually at this time DPS queues are 10+ minutes long but its so much quicker during this experiment.

Overall, I'm having a great time on this experiment despite refusing to play OW this weekend initially. The gameplay is surprisingly balanced, 1/3/2 works against 2/2/2 well enough because you are compensating an extra tank with more damage. I might miss these lightning quick queue times and having an option to pick tank as dps main ngl.

NFTs as digital licenses for movies/music/games so their ownership can be resold and traded

so I know NFTs and Blockchain tech were extremely loathed before the bubble popped. they enabled digital scarcity and were initially very environmentally unfriendly as well as the whole “Ponzi scheme” of “owning“ a JPEG.

before y’all start throwing tomatoes at me, please read the whole post because I probably hate what NFTs did as much as you do despite being brainwashed into the scene in 2022.

so NFTs from a technological perspective was basically an evolution into how digital ownership worked. a piece of media is ”minted“ into the blockchain, which means it establishes a digital signature into the media to be “owned”, with ownership flucuating between trades.

This current hellscape of subscription services, revokable licenses and phasing out of physical media disallowing trading etc. would all be solved with NFTs.

hear me out! Say I bought a digital NFT holding the license to a digital flac album of Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory for example. Linkin Park or their label would have minted them onto a marketplace digitally where you go to “remint” and put your digital footprint onto it.

here’s where it gets good! Say i didnt need the album anymore, I can put my license BACK to a digital marketplace and resell. When sold, Linkin Park would get a percentage off that, and I lose my “rights” to listen to the album. THIS is where NFTs would help a lot.

this can also be moved onto things like f2p game cosmetics, trading overwatch skins to one another, solving the fomo bs.

one issue i see corpos being enticed to sell limited quantities of digital licenses, but this is solved by purchases being reminted from the producer on-demand.

NFTs were a terrible grifting ponzi scheme in its infancy, but I feel this is a much better way to approach NFTs, ngl

Does the Forza Horizon franchise really have a hard monopoly on the arcade racing genre now? (Pic technically related)

ok so lets actually face the facts, address the elephant in the room etc. etc. EVERY arcade racer in the last decade have flopped either commercially, critically or both… besides Forza. not even many independent devs are trying to make racing games reminiscent of the 2000s‘ golden age. i can count on one hand how many arcade racers were successfully launched since indies even became a thing in the early 2010s.

i have come to the conclusion that the arcade racing genre is now a horrid no-competition monopoly that Forza Horizon holds, akin to The Sims and EA Sports. Forza Horizon is literally the only arcade racing franchise in the last decade that is going anywhere close to remotely fine. It took 2 whole decades+ for The Sims to get literally any decent competition with the release of Inzoi and Paralives. i expect no one to jump onto this godforsaken genre til at least 2040 if The Sims was any indicator.

Clutch, while it looks okay, I have this gut wrenching feeling that its gonna flop hard. no one wants that much story in a racing game nor a live service-style PVPVE always online. look what happened to TDU?

I guess we gotta welcome sloppy festival racers with no progression nor soul until we are getting greyer. fuck this industry.

EA just spat in the face of all our childhoods

RIP NFS, RIP Burnout, RIP GRID, RIP Dirt, RIP SSX, glory to Battleslop

How COULD EA just celebrate Criterion's 30th anniversary and just fucking outright say "we're not talking about the past". Bitch PLEASE, your PAST was what made Criterion my (and millions of others globally) go to favourite developers ever.

Burnout is my NUMBER 1 favourite game franchise ever made. NFS Unbound, Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted 2012 are extremely solid racing games. hell, Hot Pursuit is the only NFS game from the golden age with a modern day port. Unbound is my personal second fav NFS of all time despite it failing critically and financially.

Criterion has a HUGE legacy of being up there with Black Box, Codemasters and Bizarre Creations as the greatest racing game developers ever. but guess what, ALL are dead studios. And mostly because of EA. So of course EA would damage control by trying to twist reality that Criterion is a Battlefield Studio and always has been when thats not fucking true.

Nice how BOTH Criterion and NFS were killed on their 30th fucking anniversaries. Pokemon Company are celebrating their 30th hard, but EA decides to call their golden racing franchise and studio's 30th a fucking erasure, spitting in the face of all NFS and Criterion fans.

The problem is, EA refuses to acknowledge Criterion's legacy and it REALLY hurts

Now I KNOW how Bioware fans feel. Fuck EA, fuck you to the seven hells. Rant over

was it just me or was this year's July 4 godawful in terms of defaultism??

In all "global" discord servers and a lot of subreddits the Americans were flooding them with "HAPPY JULY 4 EVERYBODY(TM)". Tagging (at)everyone, assuming literally everyone in the world celebrates their downhill-spiral of a country. Asking how we're (apparently) celebrating it.

I'M FUCKING SICK OF IT. I was suffering all day yesterday and was actually considering deleting social media

I'm done trying, I'm just gonna have to accept FA

Welp, I am just gonna vent about the difficulty of dating for me. As an FA 31M, who has never had a relationship nor any romantic encounters, after a brutal couple of months trying to change who I am and try the dating game again for the 10th time I have (barely) accepted I probably will never date in my lifetime.

I have got severe generalised anxiety disorder and triggers, autism and social awkwardness. I am somewhat OK looking but compared to men who have dates already, i'm probably 10x uglier. I am very extroverted but due to my anxieties and autism, I just turn out to be a creep 99% of the time when I feel I'm capable of saying something to someone.

The last couple of months, I tried to dress nice, I spent 300$ AUD on alternative clothes that fit me well, I had what was probably my best profile on Hinge, I was out on weekends for hours going to social events. That all came crumbling down when:

* I posted a profile review on the Hinge subreddit and was so massively insulted and lol'd at that the post got locked by mods

* the same people I asked for advice on my "best" profile said vile things about how bad it was. I made an EVEN better one, the exact same reaction.

* the amount of social activities that were widely accessible for me in my city were miniscule. I was REALLY excited for one and the place shut down before it even happened. Which was the breaking point for me.

I feel the effort of getting myself even remotely to a stage where SOMEONE would be attracted to me is EXCRUTIATINGLY hard. In fact, having someone to kiss or hug romantically feels like an absolute pipedream. Hell, becoming a millionaire within my lifetime is becoming to feel SO MUCH more likely than ever holding someone's hand.

So I'm like FUCK IT. enough trying to live my life on Nightmare Difficulty settings, I've got goals, I've got people who look forward to seeing me weekly and I love them as friends. I immediately sold an artwork last weekend and have artistic projects that will get me places.
