Visit Muttville Senior Dog Rescue's Mission District shelter for a fun day this weekend outside with senior mutts. You’ll meet dogs in bikinis and Hawaiian shirts and watch them splash, lounge, and run around kiddie pools. Plus, you’ll enjoy treats and refreshments, chances to win prizes, and lots more summertime fun! The event is free and open to the community, whether you’re just stopping in to cuddle the pups or to adopt your new best friend.
Meet dogs like Flips Flops, Snorkel, Water Slide, Belly Flop, Hot Tub, Doggy Paddle, and, of course, Pool Party, just waiting to meet potential new adopters!

Half the weight, twice the joy! What a sweet dog, and as cute as he was, Juggles needed to lose weight ASAP when he came in 2025. His backstory? His guardian was no longer able to care for themselves or for him. The guardian had started to become forgetful and would unknowingly overfeed their faithful companion. Their vet said the dog was dangerously overweight and needed to be in someone else's care.
At Muttville.org, Juggles was placed in foster care, where he began his weight loss journey. This happy, friendly boy loved toddling from room to room to be near his foster mom. "He is really into walking around," his foster reported, "I'm sure he's going to be doing doggie pilates in no time."
Just a few days after he arrived, Juggles found his forever home! His loving new parents were committed to getting him to a healthy weight. They renamed him Hockey, and recently, they sent an update about his progress.

Muttville's cage-free spot in The Mission is colorful and inviting, with lots of senior pups walking around, snoozing, looking for pets! Good restaurants all around, too! Penny Roma, Farmhouse Thai, TrickDog, and more. Bring a friend, who knows, you might just fall in love!

This dog, you might say, just got lost in the system, but someone kind is paying for him to be boarded in LA so that he lives. This huge-hearted lady walks him daily, but this sweet boy should be in a home, right!? He needs a foster (all medical costs are covered) and, of course, a forever home. He is under the auspices of a rescue so that he could have been pulled, but they only have a 501c3 status, no marketing. Here are the deets:

Phoenix, a 9-year-old Rottweiler mix, was rescued from the Castaic Shelter near Los Angeles. This boy is ready for his loving home! Housetrained, recently had a dental, neutered, and microchipped. All he needs is you! Phoenix is incredibly affectionate - he loves nothing more than cuddling in your lap and laying his head on your shoulder! He'll look you right in the eyes with all the love he can conjure up; he loves people! And he loves his doggy "girlfriends" Darla the doberman and Darlene the German Shepherd! He thrives on affection - He loves both women and men equally! His daily walker says, "Phoenix is the most affectionate dog I have ever known in all my years of volunteering!"
