I genuinely am more excited about this than anything. I pretty much only play around with custom mode when i’m playing yan sim so having more features is great for me. I understand people just wanting Kizana but given how that’s never gonna happen may as well acknowledge the crumbs he may actually give us. I have no idea why he can’t just work on Kizana straight away and fuck all of the YT videos and custom mode off until later. But that’s just how pedodev is.

I’m naturally a creative so custom mode is basically my heaven but i get how many people don’t see that way. I just think that out of everything he’s likely to do crap added to custom mode that takes ten seconds will probably be at the top of his list. (given his f-ed up priorities) so again, just thankful for the scraps given by the almighty dev of yandere sim—

Or does cameo or just alex filter those requests out? Because knowing how the internet is, I cannot in good faith believe that no-one has at least tried to pay for a cameo for Alex to say: “I love teen girls” or “i love big breasted anime girls” or straight up “i’m a pedo“. I need to know because it’s been plaguing me for the longest time.

So with my more grounded rewrite of yan sim. A LOT of things about the way the school works will change. Such as the Saikou family just not existing.

I don’t like them. I think they’re just too perfect and too overly explained to really be considered interesting.

Renamed simply because Akademi Academy is a stupid name (in my imho)

Speaking of the headmaster:

In my rewrite, he’s not paranoid and a perv. He’s simply a well meaning headmaster, feeling overworked and overwhelmed with the expectations of managing an elite private school.

And though in my rewrite Akari Takahashi/Ayano Aishi has typical parents and therefore no ryoba. The teachers still receive training as a part of a program to keep the students safe.

Addressing the removal of the 1980s incident:

Though I enjoy the premise of 1980s mode. For my rewrite it’s removal makes sense. As it’s a more realistic retelling. As if Akademi/Chisei High was just a normal school. With normal students.

That imo makes the players actions as a “yandere” carry more weight as it’s something that’s so unimaginable to happen in an average private school. Where in 20xx mode OG yan sim it’s seems almost a common occurrence.

I see a lot of people encourage yandere dev and make it seem like he’s finally developing the game and that’s he’s doing ‘so good with amai’ giving her cutscenes and “depth” and whatnot.

But I honestly can’t bring myself to gaf.

Like why are we praising this dude for the bare minimum? Disgusting pred behaviour aside, he’s taken 11 (actually probably more) years to get to rival TWO out of TEN.

Sure, he’s gotten to week 2 and he’s gonna work Kizana soon *GASP*

But it’s like- I don’t give a fuck anymore, it’s too little too late. The only way Yan sim is even exciting for me is through me rewriting it on reddit or trying to complete challenges.

Soooo the gaming club. I’ve always felt they were especially one dimensional, so I’ve decided to remedy that in my rewrite by overhauling them. (I’m aware the club is basically there for Easter eggs and fan service but it still feels so low effort to me)

I’m also gonna address the Mai issue, obviously 🫩

Feel free to dislike this take on the gaming club, it’s my interpretation for a more realistic rewrite/concept for Yan Sim, there’s gonna be big changes ^^

Gema Taku Overhaul:

Mini disclaimer: I’ve never liked Gema and though he’s meant to be satirical, it never really landed to me since Alex has zero self awareness. I also heaven dislike how he’s the only ‘ugly’ looking character.

With that being said, Fuyuhiko Matsui is a socially awkward boy with dreams of becoming a game developer. Which is the reason he started the gaming club, as well as wanting to come out of his shell (as stated in his bio). And though insecure, he enjoys sharing his passion with others. He’s also one of the younger rewritten characters.

Ryuto Ippongo rewrite:

Ryota Okamoto is rewritten to be a character with undiagnosed ADHD (I’m autistic myself btw). This is to give him relatability and also representation to a group that isn’t very well represented a lot of the time. His affinity for video games seems immature to a lot of his peers but in reality it’s his way of regulating and honing his skills. He‘s also preforming poorly in classes due to his inability to properly focus. The gaming club is his safe place when he can be himself and doesn’t need to mask.

Pippi Asu changes:

Miyu Oota is incredibly close with Ryota and they both have crushes on each other that neither of them have verbally acknowledged (out of fear the other won’t feel the same). is often brushed off as a meek cowardly person due her gentle appearance. However, (as stated in her bio) she’s actually very extroverted. She talks a lot and can never have enough friends. Aside from Ryota, her closest friend in the gaming club is Fuyuhiko, viewing him as a little brother.

Midori Gurin Rewrite:

Midori Gurin is very nostalgic for me, soured by the fact that Alex turned out to be a creep. So I’m no longer linking her back to him.

Emi Nakano is prominent on social media (as stated on her bio) and loves video games and anime. She makes lots of posts on her socials and has a modest following. She’s seen as annoying by others, but has an endearing nature. She’s friendly but a lot of people take advantage of her gullible nature.

Mai Waifu mini disclaimer: She’s very obviously made to be Alex’s pervy fantasy and honestly deserves better. So i’m overhauling her completely and giving her more personality and agency.

Mai Waifu Overhaul:

Miyuna Kudō has a colourful style and wardrobe, the Gyaru Girls (from my rewritten clubless students post!( helped her discover her style. She wears cutesy stickers on her face and outside of school wears full decora fashion. She has heterochromia (as a reference to Mai Waifu’s original colour changing eyes). As stated in her bio, she hopes to write and animate her own indie anime series.

She’s close with all the members of the gaming club and is furiously protective of them. Especially Emi Nakano because of her tendency to be gullible. She has her own Magical Girl original character and often draws her in between classes.

As you all are aware, as they stand Muja and Mida are poorly written predator characters (yes even Muja who’s described as “innocent”‘ fight me( So I gave them both a major overhaul.

I do believe a pedophile rival could be written well, but given the sour context, i’m sticking with overhauling both entirely.

Rival 6 overhaul:

Himari Tanaka is a loving, caring student hoping to become a nurse one day. Offering students plenty of advice, and visiting students that are often in the nurses office to comfort them This means she’s also close friends with my version of Otohiko Meichi (Kiyotaka Abe).

As stated in her bio, Himari became closer with Sato/Senpai after visiting him at home when he was sick. They are naturally very well matched.

Rival 7 Overhaul:

As stated in her bio, Reina Hashimoto is apart of a new peer tutoring program at the high school. She’s a top student and enjoys tutoring others. However, she’s incredibly stone faced and doesn’t let people in very easily, believing if she does it’ll distract her from her schoolwork.

Over time with Sato’s gentle nature and immense gratitude towards her as well as their shared interest in reading. Reina softens and allows him to see glimpses of her true self.

Rival 8 rewrite/story implications:

I actually don’t have many problems with Osoro has a character, so her backstory in my rewrite is staying the same (i.e troubled homelife, alcoholic father etc).

However, I’m adding that she is no longer apart of the delinquents. Having that she used to be and after a bitter fight, she left the group. She doesn’t have the best relationship with the delinquents thanks to that except for Umeji (who will be rewritten along with the rest of them soon!) who she was always close with.

The fight was over her feeling undervalued and wanting more respect. While also deep down feeling isolated from the group.

Now, for the biggest change, her relationship with Sato.

in my rewrite, Koharu Ozawa‘s relationship with Senpai/Sato runs deep. They were friends throughout their lives, going to the same junior school together. However, once her father became a worsening alcoholic and abusive, she withdrew from the friendship. Leaving Sato to wonder if it was his fault.

Especially after finding out that she’s developed violent and criminal behaviour. this causes a big fight between them. after which, they don’t speak to each other until she transferred to Sato’s high school. (the events of week 8).

Because of all of this, Sato’s saviour complex is amplified when it comes to Koharu wanting to help her change and heal from her trauma. Which inadvertently causes her to become worse.

Week 8 is significant as it causes Sato to really evaluate his actions and its effect on those around him (This is also influenced by how each rival had been eliminated thus far and his current mental state due to that).

Extra info:

Reina Hashimoto is related to a member of the school council (have a guess which one 😏)

Himari Tanaka is blasian ^^

Koharu Ozawa is close to breaking the school’s dresscode due to not having a clean enough school record to wear a piercing (the school is exercising leniency due to her only just transferring).

Both Himari and Sato’s mothers are close friends.

Hokaru Ozawa is the youngest in her year by 2 months but doesn’t look it due to her muscular physique.

Horuda puresu—> Izumi Uchida

Kuu Dere—> Katie Brown

Sakyu Basu—> Katsumi Fujimoto

Inkyu Basu—> Chiaki Fujimoto

Kyuji Konagawa —> Kenji Shimizu

Otohiko Meichi—> Kiyotaka Abe

Hazu Kashibuchi—> Hajime Katō

Toga Tabara—> Takahiro Nagase

Nothing much can be said about my version of Hajime/Hazu and Takahiro/Toga as they are very similar except for more detail in their bios.

Izumi/Horuda and Katie/Kuu are very close in my rewrite, giving them more depth as characters. As they are both seen together.

And a crucial difference with my Horuda is even though she can still be driven to murder, it would be a more realistic exaltation than just simply showing her a picture of someone talking to her bully. The protag would have to provide more solid proof (such as an audio recording) and further decrease her reputation for Izumi to snap.

Kuu Dere has the biggest revamp as her character is arguably the weakest in Yan Sim. Instead of literally just being a “Kuu dere“ with no personality of her own. My Kuu Dere/Katie is a US exchange student with few friends. Giving her more depth as she’s adjusting to her new environment and anxious about attending Akademi.

Kenji/Kyuji also has a bit of a personality change. As I wanted him to be written as more compatible with my Osana/Hana. Rather than a surface level relationship. I know some relationships can be like that but for Hana to shift interest from her childhood best friend to someone she only knows in passing, he needs to share at least some of her interests/parts of her personality.

Otohiko has a bigger rewrite as I made him less of a gay stereotype.

My main grip with Otohiko is he’s described mainly by his faults and oddities which makes him just seem like a mean-spirited stereotype. (Not that Yandev intended this, i don’t think he really put a lot of thought into these background characters) So I changed that.

Scrapping his over-the-top clumsiness and mention of his “feminine mannerisms”. Though I do give him a pink scarf, to show he may still enjoy aspects of femininity without it being his whole character. (not that pink is inherently feminine).

Basu Sisters Overhaul:

Simply put, I don’t like the Basu Sisters and they wouldn’t fit my grounded interpretation of Yan Sim. So I turned them into positive interpretations of Gyarus instead! Since in OG Yan Sim Gyarus are portrayed as the harmful bully stereotype.

The existence of a flexible dresscode is also addressed through Katsumi and Chiaki. The catch mentioned being restrictions on Students that behave inappropriately or have low grades.

I know people like the Basu Sisters but this is my rewrite! So please respect that <3

Info-Chan—> Kiyomi Itō (Kei)

Info-chan extensive overhaul: 

In my rewrite, Info-chan is a non binary student and instead of being a perverted creep. They use their online presence and use it to manipulate and blackmail local criminals and their past bullies. Essentially a morally grey vigilante.  

They use Ayano/Akari to gather blackmail about their chosen targets. 

NOT PANTIE SHOTS EW. 

They are also less like a tutorial robot, giving advice but not extensive guides to the point it becomes unrealistic. They reward her with things that can help her eliminate her rivals in exchange for blackmail. 

The reason they are talking to Akari is quite clear. 

They are gathering information in hopes to expose her as a creepy stalker. Not a murderer (as they don’t know that). 

However, if Akari uses their services often and engages with them. They will discover her darker impulses and instead of just exposing Akari to the school, they will continue to “help” in order to build up evidence for a police investigation.
