Amai’s confession
I see a lot of people talking about Taro’s rejection speech. And honestly it’s well written especially for Yandev’s standards.
But what confuses me is when he accepts Amai’s confession it kinda undercuts that. Because what she’s saying is still true even if Ayano doesn’t mess anything up. So does Taro not care as long as Amai can host a good picnic?
I think it’s made worse by how he doesn’t really say anything in the acceptance cutscene. He literally just says “i feel the same!” Without actually addressing what she said. He could have still addressed it while accepting her confession.
Maybe he was saddened and explains but still understands her heart was in the right place? I honestly just can’t see the rejection speech in the best light because of how underwhelming the acceptance confession was.
On its own, it’s a well written monologue but with the context of how he’d react otherwise it makes zero sense.
