Incheon Chinatown Jjajangmyeon Kit
Tried a Jjajangmyeon kit for the first time, a gift from my wife's younger sister.
While it wasn't terrible, it wasn't really good either - just kind of meh.
Served with some home made chonggak (bachelor) kimchi

GYERAN-JJIM (can't edit post title to correct spelling)
Based on a Korean banchan dish of steamed eggs.
Whipped eggs with sesame oil, soy sauce, poblano pepper, chile guero, sweet onion, bacon crumbles, and shredded cheese, cooked in liquid. Egg mixture poured into a pot containing the Cooking liquid - broth from soy bean soup, beef broth, sesame oil, soy sauce, and fish sauce, then covered.
Chunk chicken breast, anaheim, Korean snacking chili, sweet onion, dill mustard, MW. Topped with lettuce and tomato. Toasted potato bun.
Ham Fried rice patties, eggs, kimchi, and yukgaejang.
Started off making bacon and chili guero fried rice, then for some reason decided I wanted soup. Already had the fried rice cooking so added a bit of beef bone broth, and some milk. Reduced a little then thickened with corn starch. The flavor was good - fried flavor under the creamy/brothy flavor worked really well.
Fried rice ingredients: White and black rice mix, mushrooms, bacon, chile guero, sesame oil, and soy sauce.
Sweet pumpkin, sweet rice flour, and fresh ground peanuts in a thin porridge.
Patbanppang? Semi sweet bun filled with sweet red bean paste. Others had sweet cream or buttercream added to the red bean, but they didn't make it to picture stage.
Food Court: Spicy Chicken and Jajangmyeon/Jjampong Combo. Not bad for a food court meal.
Finally saw this in the store. Fried to a light crisp, poblano, sweet onion, shredded cheese, lettuce on a toasted potato sandwich roll.
A small amount of heat, a touch of sweet, good flavor (not Korean to my taste, but good). Do again worthy.
This post of a Korean street food vender making ramen omelets inspired this version made from on-hand ingredients.
So I used chapagetti, gochugaru, bacon crumbles, shredded cheeses (no moz on-hand), and cooked it in butter. Topped with more cheese, bacon, and wasabi sauce. (currently out of gochujang, and did not want to use sriracha)
Food Police: This is just a version from on-hand ingredients.
This post made me go into "Gotta Try" mode:
Used chapaghetti, bacon crumbles, Kirkland Shredded Mexican Cheeses, gochugaru, and wasabi sauce. Cooked in melted butter.
This is on my repeat list, I need to try it with Shin, Neoguri, Plain Noodle and my own broth, and ...
Bacon fried rice rolled in an omelet. Topped with crumbled bacon and shredded cheeses.
Sliced bagel dipped in egg wash and fried. Same method as French Toast. Left over egg was mixed with shredded cheese, cooked in a sheet, and rolled. Maple Syrup.
Hand torn crispy fried chicken, bacon crumbles, sweet onion, red grape and yellow pear tomatoes, and crushed jalapeno. Topped with over easy egg.
Leftover pizza and Thai Fruit Beer.
Added some more cheese, peppers, and garden fresh mini tomatoes to leftover Pizza. With a surprisingly good grapefruit beer from Thailand.
My wife saw a package that said mochi pancakes, so she bought it to try out. These were chocolate macadamia flavored. They cooked up okay, got a fair rise (not as much as standard p-cake batter).
Flavor was not bad, but not great - just on the high side of okay. The chew was a bit thicker than standard cakes, but not stretchy like mochi.
All in all they were a bit better than just okay - not really on the re-do list.
Mandu-guk with shank meat and fresh made ganjang-gejang.
Near 395 south and I-82. Sounds like a fair amount of responders. No news yet.
Standard waffle batter with sweet corn added. Corn seasoned with salt, pepper, and gochugaru.
Served up with egg and maple syrup. (Last egg in the fridge)
