The Erie County Fair is basically 2.5x the price of the State Fair.

It's hot and humid and my driver has small electric fans going in the car and no AC.

edit: This is a constant thing in my city, and I have heard it from a lot of friends who use Lyft consistently.

My wife and I both lost our grandparents this year, we have lost almost all of them except one of mine. Our cat of 14 years, I knew her for 10, my wife had her since a kitten, was put peacefully down on Tuesday.

I think I have cried more in the last 3 days than in the last 30 years. I don't even know how to comfort my wife at this point, because it because almost non-stop for her when she comes home. She was my wife's first ever pet, and has been with her non-stop.

I have lost cats, and a dog, in the past. But this is my first pet I lived with full-time in my adulthood.

We knew it was going to happen, cancer was taking her, and we allowed her to pass peacefully in our arms at home with a wonderful vet.

But this feels like something different.

Edit: My title may come across as insensitive, we both have never lost a parent, sibling, or child. But our cat was one of furr babies.

I try to only buy made in USA or Canada wet cat food, from brands like Fromm and Open Farm.

I assumed Orijen was also made in North America since all of their branding is about that, but after just picking up my order all the cans are a product of Thailand...

Is there any reason to avoid foods made in Thailand? Especially since 95% of it is.

My cats are refusing to eat the same food they have been eating after the bags updated. Is it really just a new look and same recipe? My cats think not.

I am currently finishing up my special education certification, it's my second certificate. Before I even started the program I saw horror stories about ABA and how dehumanizing it is.

One of my last classes at my college is an entire course of the joys of using ABA to change student behavior. The course started out with the "myths" about it, but then jumped right into what people complain about.

Regardless of the controversy around it, I don't even use how it's possible to use unless you are a fully self-contained teacher.

My 14 year old is refusing all food for the past 2 or 3 days. She ate a little bit yesterday morning (we have cameras on the bowls) but that's it. She seems to be drinking plenty of water. I have bought basically everything at the store from treats, meat fillets, meow mix, friskies, FortiFlora, churus, cat milk, cat liquid meal. She ate one treat.

She has breast cancer, and I know it might be nearing the end, but her tumors have no grown much. And she is active, and moves around fine. However, she just will not eat.

Is there anyway to force her to eat or something? What will the vet even do other than fluids?

She is on a liquid pain medication, and hyperthyroid pills.

We brought a new cat into the home about 2 weeks ago, we normally wouldn't get a new cat at this point, but it was a rescue from a friend. She doesn't really seem to care about her, but the new cat has been moving around the house more, so I am not sure if that could be why either...

I replaced my broken laptop with the one below. I also swapped the ram with a 32gb kit and added a Samsung 990 pro 1tb to it that I had. I cannot get anything to run smoothly. Games I played on high with my Gigabyte laptop with 4060, barely run on low. I tried Cyberpunk, Battlefield 6, an older COD game.

I messed with all of the DLSS settings in game, put the laptop on extreme performance mode. I have updated Windows and the Nvidia drivers

I am not sure what else to do.

I needed to teach summer school for the $$$, and the "fun summer" is more stressful than my school year. Students are either getting paid to be there, forced to make up failed classes, or just here to not be bored.

Which means me as a "specials" teacher, no one is getting grades. We are supposed to still teach bell to bell when the students are 100% aware the class means absolutely nothing and has no bearing on their grades.

It just doesn't make sense. I'm about to just teach coloring sheet class all summer.

My laptop died and Asurion paid out the $1350 for it as an Amazon Gift card. Are laptop prices effected by all the storage inflation right now? Should I wait to get a new one?

I had a Gigabyte Aorus 16 and I did really like it. I need a laptop for design work, and also use it for gaming.

We tried to do an expedited version of the Jackson Galaxy method, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

We have new cat in her own room, with everything she needs to be comfortable. We kept our cats completely out of sight for 3 or 4 days, did some scent swapping, feeding on other side of the door. Then for a couple days we had them look at each other through a baby/dog screen while eating.

We then let the new cat out to eat with the resident cats. The oldest cat does not care at all, but the younger one gets very upset. He has literally never hissed in his life (had him since birth), and this new cat has brought another side out in him.

They will get face to face when eating treats, but will then hiss at each other. A couple time when they got away from us, the resident cat attacked the new cat.

After that we went back to total separation. Neither of the resident cats stand outside the door anymore or run upstairs when they hear the door open. But we aren't sure what the next steps are. I'm back to work tomorrow after a break and feel bad leaving the new cat alone for 8hrs in a room.

Classes started last week and I have emailed my professor 3 different times and she hasn't responded to a single one. She even posted the end of the summer assignments for this week and never fixed it.

How is a "doctor" so bad at technology.

I'm getting a 2nd certification in Special Education and we are required to record our teaching with an AI program called Vosaic for the robot to analyze our teaching. How is this okay? I don't want to be recorded, or will I let my students be recorded with this weird program.

edit: apparently this website has been around for awhile before the AI boom, but now it's completely AI it seems.
