Writers really dived deep into Wookieepedia for this one

Never thought I'd see Lord Adraas in SWTOR. Guess it isn't all that weird considering Theron was also an original from the novels, but even so it was a surprise

Legacy Reborn: the good and the bad

Legacy Reborn was a big test for whether Broadsword could deliver a large-scale update and I think they pulled it off rather well, with some caveats.

While I don't think it was perfect, I certainly walked away feeling more satisfied than let down, and I'm really looking forward to seeing where they're going with the story.

There's one things I really liked, namely the divergent perspectives. I think it's a cool and innovative way to spice up the gameplay a bit. I would love to see them expand on this with maybe Shroud of Memory-type dialogue options for the NPC you're controlling in future updates. It could be another way for them to save costs on VAs if it becomes an issue again in the future, as opposed to retreating to KOTOR dialogue (considering it'd be one VA rather than sixteen).

I also appreciate them expanding on the tension with the faction leaders, though I wish they gave us more options here on how to deal with that. It seems like it's in the back of their mind and they're playing footsie with the idea, as there's some options to either let Malgus do his thing or proclaim you're taking the machine for yourself, but it doesn't really go anywhere. Maybe that'll change.

The cinematics and camerawork were beautiful, and I appreciate a lot of the detail they've put into the scenework. A lot of attention has been put in the lore with the Malgus backstory dumps and some cameos from old NPCs.

Criticisms would largely be on the resolution of the Shae and Heta conflict. While Heta's face model was beautifully designed, the sword was a bit contrived and felt like a not-so-subtle ad for the new CM item.

It also sucks a lot that we spent a lot of this story feeling like side characters for Shae, and that seems to be how it ended as well. No option for revenge against either of them after all this time. Best we can do to Shae is make catty comments while Jekiah and Rass mourn for her, and it kinda made me giggle that they just politely ignored my character's wildly inappropriate remarks.

I was disappointed there was no option to pick to side with Jadus the way you sorta do get with Malgus, but I suppose it makes sense given Jadus's treachery. Neither of their fates were terribly surprising to me and went about how I expected.

Noshir Dalal STOLE the show with his voice acting. You could feel his broken trust while he was screaming at Shae.

A lot of sequel baiting for 8.0, so I'm hoping it gives some payoff for the big cliffhanger. I am noticing they've been relying on this quite a bit with the past few updates. I'm hoping it doesn't stay a pattern, especially with how infrequently we get updates.

Overall, a very chunky story update that gave me a few hours of time to kill and a story I generally enjoyed from start to finish. There's room for improvement, certainly, but I think Legacy Reborn was a pretty solid finale to LotS that wrapped up a lot of messy plot threads about as well as it could.

No one can say 7.0 hasn't been a rough era for SWTOR, in no small part due to the transition from BW to BS. However, I do think 7.9 marks a high point for it and for BS's stewardship of the MMO. I think it's a positive example of what SWTOR could be under them as now that they've started to find their footing, and I think it's a harbinger for good things to come.

Looking forward to seeing what 8.0 brings :]

Predictions for Legacy Reborn?

With 7.9 coming out, we're wrapping up a years-long storyline that began arguably with Jedi Under Siege. What are your predictions? Who will fall, who will survive, and what comes next?

Potential solution for exotic aliens

For the more exotic humanoids that the developers have long since declined making official playable species - like Kel Dor, Kaleesh, Rodians, and so on - why not just make their preexisting head and hand pieces purchasable as voice modulated helmets and gloves on the Cartel Market?

It's not a perfect solution by any means, particularly where companion and romance cutscenes are concerned, but it seems like the best way to give an option to players who really want to play these races without dedicating the development resources for a new playable race that likely can't realistically be expected this late in the game's life.

Thoughts?

Did Krell's vision involve the clones?

We know Krell had a vision of the Empire's rise, though vague enough that he mistakenly believed it would be ushered in by Count Dooku and the Separatists. We also know Krell had an irrational hatred for the clones.

Do you think it's possible Krell knew the clones would somehow be involved in the change, and that's why he hated them?

How does SWTOR do age verification?

I figure it might not be such a bad idea to know how they're rolling out age verification, given the recent changes to Brazilian law, in case it starts picking up steam internationally.

"If you hate what you are, become someone better."

Rawest line in a game full of them. Light-sided JK really has some of the biggest payoff moments in the whole story.

I remember this line often. What's a line in this game that really sticks with you?

Was Heert's S2 role originally supposed to be Blevin's?

While I think it was a stronger narrative choice to pivot to Heert as Dedra's S2 rival, I realized with a few tweaks to the script, Blevin probably would've fit rather well in the ending of the show in Heert's stead, as a payoff to that earlier story?

Do you think that Heert was always intended to have the expanded role he did have in the second season, or was it a pivot from an earlier idea involving Blevin that the show wasn't fully able to see to fruition?

What if the Revanites were right?

Just a simple question: How would you feel if the Revanites were right, and it turned out Revan had actually replaced the Emperor and been locked away by the Dark Council?

Do you think this would've been a good twist for the story, and how do you think it would've affected the rest of the events that occurred in the game?

Does SWTOR need a Jedi/Republic affiliated antagonist?

It seems almost all of the big bads in the expansions are Sith Lords, with only one (arguably) being a Jedi. In the class stories, six of the main villains are Sith or Sith-adjacent. Only one of them are Republic or Jedi.

Do you think the game needs more Jedi or Republic villains?
