Is this a good deal?

Was planning to buy a 2025 CX-5 Carbon, but ive noticed many of them are previous rentals with 20-30k miles in one year. This is a 2023 CX-5 with highest trim level, at 26k miles (less miles per year than the 2025's ive been seeing). Is this a good deal? What to watch out for?

Kata Robata has officially been enshittified

I went to Kata Robata today after not going for a few years. I went 3 years ago and really enjoyed it, so I was pretty excited to go back.

Unfortunately, this time was a completely different experience.

The quality was honestly pretty disappointing. The fish just wasn’t that impressive, and for the price I expected a lot more. I've had better fish quality at some of the cheap spots around town (quality was on par with Hokkaido in Bellaire, maybe even a little worse).

The rolls were also comically small. I don’t mind smaller portions at a higher-end sushi restaurant, but these were on another level. It was as if these rolls were made for a toddler. On top of that, they weren’t even rolled tightly. They were loose, uneven and falling apart, and honestly looked ugly as hell on the plate. For a restaurant at this price point, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect the sushi to at least look like it was made with some level of care.

And then there was the shishito pepper dish. The peppers were already tossed in oil and then they served them with a Sriracha mayo aioli. I’m sorry but what is the point of that? 😂 You have oily, blistered peppers and the answer is to add a thick mayo-based sauce with it?? It just didn’t make any culinary sense and tasted exactly as confusing as it sounds.

That’s kind of what the whole meal felt like. Nothing was terrible on its own, but for a restaurant with the reputation and prices that Kata Robata has, everything felt like a step down from what I remember.

It feels like classic enshittification and shrinkflation. The prices and reputation are still there, but the food and portions aren’t. I don’t mind paying $100+ for sushi when it’s actually good, but the value just isn’t there anymore. I honestly don’t understand how this place is still so highly regarded unless the old reputation is carrying it at this point.

Anyone else been recently? Has kata robata fallen off or did i just get unlucky today?

Edit: Sorry for the low quality photos, there is a crack on my camera.

Has anyone bought a Mazda from a rental company? How has it held up?

Planning to buy a 2025 CX5 with 35k miles for $22k from Avis Car Rental. I know some people are against buying fleet vehicles, but the price is so much cheaper buying it at Avis vs a dealer.

For those who have bought a Mazda that was a fleet/rental vehicle, how did it hold up?

Buying a 2025 CX5 with 45k miles!

Im planning to buy a 2025 CX5 with 45k miles from a rental company (Avis). For those who bought used, did you encounter any issues with the car?

Also, any problems with the features of the car like automatic braking and cylinder shutoff?

Should I pay cash for my car, put a huge down payment down, or just finance normally?

My previous car was recently totaled, so I need to buy another car sooner than I expected. I’m trying to decide how I should structure the purchase financially.

I’m in a pretty fortunate position where none of these options would financially stress me, so this is more about what makes the most sense financially rather than what I can afford.

I’m considering three options:

Option 1: Pay for the entire car in cash
No monthly payment
No interest
Would obviously reduce my cash savings/investments

Option 2: Put a very large down payment down
Put a substantial amount down
Have a very small monthly payment
Still keep some cash invested/saved
Pay some interest, but not much because the loan would be small

Option 3: Put ~$3,000 down and take a normal 5-year loan
Keep most of my cash available/invested
Higher monthly payment
Pay more interest over the life of the loan
Potentially get a better return by keeping the money invested rather than putting it into the car

I’m not trying to stretch my budget or justify buying a car I can’t afford. All three options are comfortably affordable for me.

For those who have been in a similar situation, which approach would you choose and why?
Would you prioritize being completely debt-free, minimizing interest, or keeping the cash invested/liquid?

Interest rate would probably be around 6-7%. 25 years old. 200k NW. 210k gross HHI.

I can never hit my carb goal, but always go over on fats and protein. 25 y/o 162 lbs male trying to bulk!

I eat so much rice a day (3-4 cups) plus a bowl of oats every morning, but I can still never hit my carb goals. I also seem to blow through my fat and protein macros. Help!

Is it okay to make sure I hit my protein and calories goal, but let fat/carbs fall where they may?

Ive been tracking food intake recently, and I consistently hit my protein and calories, but I always go over my fat macros and a little under carbs. Is this fine? I dont even mean to, it's just how my natural diet falls.

Would you take a 37.5% pay raise for a more stressful outpatient nursing job?

I’m a 25-year-old RN trying to decide between staying at my current job or accepting a higher-paying position.

Current job:
•Outpatient endoscopy center
•$40/hour
•Monday-Friday. Usually working 6 AM-2 PM (sometimes get off earlier if the schedule is light)
•I know my team well, and the workflow is very predictable.
•Low stress overall and I have plenty of energy after work to go to the gym, spend time with my spouse, cook, and enjoy my hobbies
•3% yearly raises

New job:
•$55/hour
•Also outpatient
•4 10 hr shifts or 5 8's depending on what is needed
•Would rotate between three different clinics:
-One is about 10 minutes away
-One is about 30 minutes away
-One is about an hour away
•I’d be expected to float wherever I’m needed (PACU, circulating, or other roles depending on staffing)
•Less consistency since I wouldn’t know exactly where I’d be working or what role I’d be in every day

The pay increase is obviously huge, about a 37.5% raise, but I’m worried about trading a really good work-life balance for more stress, more driving, and less predictability. I also already save/invest about 80k a year so I'm not sure how much the extra income would actually improve my life (dual income with my spouse who is also a nurse).

For those of you who’ve made a similar move, was the extra money worth it? Or did you end up wishing you had stayed in the lower-paying but more comfortable position?

Shop says I need both front strut assemblies ($1,100). Am I being overly skeptical?

Hey everyone, looking for some advice before I spend around $1,100-$1,200 (havent received an official estimate yet).

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla with 150k miles. A few days ago I started noticing a noise coming from under my car.

Symptoms:
•Deep metallic/rattling noise over bumps that lasts a second or two.
•When I first start the car in the morning, I sometimes hear the same noise while backing up in reverse. Once the car has been driven for a bit, that reverse noise disappears.
•The car drives completely normal.
•No steering issues.
•No pulling.
•No excessive bouncing that I’ve noticed.
•No nose dive under braking.
•Highway driving feels completely stable.

I took it to a local independent shop. They initially told me it was probably suspension, then after inspecting it they said it looked like I needed the front strut assemblies and quoted me around $1,100-1,200 (still waiting on the master tech’s final diagnosis).

The reason I’m hesitant is that from everything I’ve read and listened to online, the noise honestly sounds more like worn sway bar links than bad struts. I know YouTube isn’t a diagnosis, but it has me second guessing everything.

My questions are:
•Based on these symptoms alone, does this sound more like struts, sway bar links, strut mounts, or is it impossible to tell?

•Is it common for worn struts to make noise without causing noticeable bouncing, nose dive, or handling issues?

•If you were in my shoes, would you want a second opinion before approving an $1,100 repair?

I’m not accusing the shop of being dishonest—I just want to make sure I’m not replacing expensive parts if something simpler could be causing the noise.
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone else feel guilty for not struggling?

I’m 25, and lately I’ve been feeling kind of weird about my life.

I spend way too much time on Reddit and YouTube, and it feels like every day I see people my age talking about being burned out, drowning in debt, working 60-hour weeks, hating their jobs or unemployed, or feeling like they have no future. My childhood best friend is going through the same thing, he's been unemplyed for 3 years out of Uni and he's depressed. Some of the stories are genuinely heartbreaking.

Meanwhile… my life is honestly pretty good.
I have a stable career that pays well enough. I work reasonable hours (6am-2pm M-F), have weekends free, exercise consistently, have an amazing girlfriend I’ve been with for years, good friends, hobbies I genuinely enjoy, and enough money left over to save around 70-80k a year and still have fun. I’m not rich by any means, but im definitely not struggling.

Instead of just feeling grateful, I almost feel… guilty.
Like somehow I didn’t earn it. Or like I’m waiting for something terrible to happen because my life seems “too easy” compared to what I constantly read online.

Sometimes I downplay my own happiness to my friends because I don’t want to come across as insensitive when they are struggling with the current economy.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this just social media making me think everyone is miserable, or is survivor’s guilt over having a good life actually a thing?

I know this probably sounds like the world’s smallest violin, but it’s been on my mind a lot lately.

My car makes this low pitch rumble when shifting to reverse

2009 Toyota Corolla: My car makes this weird rumble noise when shifting into reverse. The thing is, it usually only happens when the car is cold/first start of the day. The car shifts into reverse perfectly fine if it's warmed up.

The noise also appears when driving over bumps, but its just a rattle for a few seconds and not continuous like this.

Ive been driving with the noise for the past few months with no issues. No lights on the dash yet. What could it be?

What should we do after accidentally seeing an out-of-network provider?

My girlfriend accidentally had a scheduled appointment with an out-of-network doctor. We didn’t realize they weren’t in network until after the visit. We’re waiting for insurance to process the claim. If the bill ends up being expensive, what are our best options? Has anyone had success negotiating with a doctor’s office for a discount or reduced self-pay rate? Should we ask for financial assistance before agreeing to a payment plan?

Am I being paranoid, or does this sound like someone is messing with my car?

I live in an apartment complex with an open parking garage (no assigned spaces). Twice now, when a particular car has ended up parked next to mine, I’ve found weird food-related stuff on my car.

Incident 1:
A yogurt bottle was sitting on my windshield.

Incident 2:
Some white substance (looked kind of like ice cream or yogurt) started at the top of my door where the window meets the door and dripped down the side.

I’ve also noticed an oily substance on one of my side mirrors that formed 3 vertical drip lines down the mirror glass itself.

The reason I’m suspicious is that the food incidents both happened when the same car was parked next to me. But because parking is first-come, first-served, I don’t know if that’s meaningful or just coincidence.

I’m trying not to jump to conclusions. Does this sound like normal random apartment-garage weirdness, or would you suspect someone is intentionally putting things on the car?

I have photos and I’m considering moving spots and getting a dashcam with parking mode.
