I can’t take this part seriously after I saw the three little dots on the picture’s top corner and realized it was just a screenshot lol

Like, I get it’s the climax of the game, but after learning it’s a screenshot it just becomes more funny than anything

I love that Doomguy is getting more backstory to flesh out his character, and to be more than just the player’s vessel

The Slayer was first meant to be a stand-in for the players, yeah, but we’re far behind that era of gaming. Several other gaming protagonists, such as, for example, Master Chief, were all silent characters who barely talked, but nowadays, have far more personality and aren’t just a vessel for the players. Now, do not get me wrong, the Slayer should be silent most of the time, but he should still have a character. Ever since Eternal, and ESPECIALLY nowadays with The Dark Ages, we see he is a far more complex character than just ‘angry god killer’. He’s more than that, and the modern games show that in detail. I loved learning about his backstory, of his fight for survival on the moons of Mars, his grief and rage at the loss of his wife and child, not just his rabbit, and his ascension to godhood in his quest to avenge his family. It gives the slayer more complexity and depth, and the players can FEEL what he’s going through. In the trailer for the revelations dlc near the end, we see flashbacks, and seemingly hear the voice of someone calling the slayer “Taggart”. Flynn Taggart. The same name as the tie-in novels. Giving him a name is, in my opinion, an amazing choice, it makes him more than the way the player interacts with the world of DOOM.

Simon is Jesus, or a Jesus-like figure (yes, I’m serious)

In a previous theory, this one, I theorized that Simon was the “chosen one” of his universe, having been chosen by the eye, as well as being “The Last Son of Eden”, spoken about by the Father in some flashbacks. I wanted to expand upon this theory, so I will.

The Father is basically a prophet, speaking of the trees and their importance, treating them as though they are holy items that are a gift from something greater, and speaks about how The Last Son of Eden will bring about new trees. Simon, if he is “The Last Son of Eden“, like I theorized, gave new life to the last tree, and that tree could sprout new trees in the blood ocean.

The Father speaks in very high regard when it comes to The Last Son of Eden, basically talking as if this son was a savior who would bring new life, and with it, hope.

When The Father says that once The Last Son of Eden joins in “the grove”, trees will sprout once more. As many people said in my previous pos, this “grove”, most likely just means some kind of afterlife.

So, this “Last Son of Eden” would die, and their death would bring about new life, and a hope that wasn’t there before. Simon is the SON of the FATHER, who is a leader figure who is treated with great respect, and Simon endured great suffering, before merging with the last seed, making a new tree.

You know who else went through a lot of suffering before dying, brining new hope? Jesus. He was whipped and adorned with crown of thorns, eventually bleeding out on a cross. His death washed away the sins of mankind, and brought hope for a better future. Simon did basically all that, too. He endured mutations and radiation, almost drowning, before dying and becoming a tree. His death sent the black box to the surface, giving hope to humanity.

In conclusion, Simon is basically the Iron Lung’s version of Jesus, or at the very least, a Jesus-like figure.

I hate the Slayer

Do you understand how much he has screwed hell over? He keeps killing my people, and no matter what we throw at him, he just. Doesn’t. DIEEEE! I literally was talking to my Imp friend the other day, and he was talking about how terrifying this dude was, and he left to try and do something about it. That was the last time I ever saw him. And he’s been doing this for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. He killed the Icon of Sin! THE ICON OF SIN GOT KILLED! STRONGEST DEMON IN HELL GOT PACKED UP BY ONE DUDE! WHAT ARE WE EVEN SUPPOSED TO DO ONCE THE HEAVY METAL STARTS BLASTING IN THE DISTANCE, GETTING LOUDER AS HE GETS CLOSER?! And don’t even get me STARTED on his arsenal! He has bullets for dayss! Plasma rifle, Shotgun, anything you can think of! He has a gun that GRINDS UP HUMAN SKULLS, AND LAUNCHES THE SHARDS IN OUR DIRECTION! HE HAS A BIG! F**KING! GUN! LET ME REPEAT THAT, HIS MOST POWERFUL WEAPON, THAT CAN EVISCERATE ANYTHING IN SIGHT, IS CALLED THE BIG F**KING GUN! BY THE WAY, HE’S BEEN DOING ALL THIS BECAUSE OF ONE RABBIT, A KID, AND SOME LADY WE KILLED! HOW WERE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT WAS HIS FAMILY IN PARTICULAR?!

I am fully convinced that Simon could have beat Elli if he wasn’t constantly getting injured and nerfed
