the concept of this being one of her most “mainstream” albums…she was truly bound to be an experimental legend from the start

currently listening to True Romance intensively and it’s so incredibly produced and composed for a “pop” album, literally worlds apart from everything else that came out during that time and her later albums kept only going to even higher highs

like many I became a fan in 2024 with brat, and since then listen to her entire discography passionately…it’s so impressive to me how even her most straightforward releases have so much thought and intricacy behind them

genuinely one of the most interestingly mixed and ethnically ambiguous people I’ve ever seen

indie rock/pop artists who, while aren’t considered virtuosic or prog, genuinely compose, build real melodies, use a variety of instruments, have a rich sound palette

I love strong presence of compositions and melodies in rock/indie rock/pop and I’m looking for bands that do exactly that: massive effort in melodies

people wouldn’t consider them as “masters of instrumental technique” in a prog rock sense, but they’re regardless intricate sound architects of melody in their own right

they should just be rich in their melodic aspect:

melodies that flow smoothly, continuously (especially played in cantabile/legato style)

multiple different instruments (classic/folk/ethnic/any or all of the above)

that aren’t limited to noisy/fuzzy or background rhythmic guitars

a sound that’s meticulous and well designed and still fun (but open for melancholic suggestions too)

my attached albums are examples of bands that fulfill these criteria brilliantly (and you should definitely check out too if you don’t know them)

Excited for your recommendations, and thanks in advance!

which album left you more satisfied out of these two new arrivals today? did they meet/surpass/disappoint your expectations?

new Babe Rainbow album “Acid and Honey” out today! ☀️🦦🎸🌈🍯

When this was announced we were a bit worried for the music because of the untypical for the band cover, but don’t get fooled by it, the songs are as chill, warm and summery as ever, if you’re familiar with this band! They also introduced very trippy slow acoustic guitars, which I loved. Overall another beautiful release by these masters of summery and relaxing psychedelia! enjoy!
