Advice on starters please

I was gifted these 1.5 inch starter alocasias. I’ve lost starters in the past and hope to not repeat history.

Should they be in a mini greenhouse with higher humidity? My other more mature alocasias are doing well in my space.

Should I repot them or let them alone for now?
You can see the roots look good.

Any insights and advice on how to proceed with these lil’babies will be greatly appreciated. I’m pretty excited to watch them grow.

And I know they’re small but any ID’s would be awesome. I’ve got my ideas but I definitely need a more experienced eye. Thanks so much. Finished.

Advice on starters

I was gifted these 4 starters. I’m just not sure how to baby these guys enough till they’re more mature and stable.

Should they be in a high humidity environment? My other alocasias seem to be happy enough in my space.

You can see the roots are good. Should I move them to bigger pots now or give them more time.

I’ve lost starters in the past and would rather not kill these so any advice is welcome. Thanks so much.

Also I know they’re young but if someone could ID them that would also be greatly appreciated.

Every so often..

Once in a blue moon my Home Depot has something interesting enough to bring home. I barely glance these days but this guy caught my eye. I swear I wasn’t actively looking I was there for a pot and some bird seed, I had to walk past the stand they were in 🙄I swear. It caught my eye somehow. Funny because it was buried in the back of the full flat. It was as if the succulent fairy put it there just for me. It kinda made my day. So I guess that’s why I’m sharing.

It’s a aloinopsis luckhoffii. I love those tubercles. I’m excited to watch the changes as it grows.

I’d love to see any pics of yours if you have one. I’d never come across them before.

Every once in awhile..

Once in a blue moon my Home Depot has something interesting enough to bring home. I only glanced at the succulents shelf as I walked by because it was in front of the door to the garden center which is where I was going. I swear🙄. It was the only one from a full flat. As if the succulent fairy put it there just for me.

I love the tubercles. I’m so excited to watch the changes as it grows.

If anyone has one I’d love to see a pic of it.

Crassula rupestris ssp commutata

I’m so obsessed right now.
EDIT:

This is not a crassula. I need new glasses 🫣. It’s a sedum.

Does this count?

So does it count? Maybe more of a Fairy’s garden than a Fairy Garden?

ETA. Yes, I’ve have a drill and there are drainage holes.

Crassula love

I didn’t realize I’ve been collecting crassulas like this till spa day. And I’ve got 2 more on the way😆. I do love them .

Do you have plants that you didn’t actually realize you were collecting?

u/dusti_dearian — 6 days ago

I could cry

I’m confused as to what plant this is. All try’s are coming back wrong. So if someone knows please let me know.

I don’t know that there’s much to do 😖. It just rotted. I think too much soil? It has such a shallow root system.

I’ve had it a few weeks. The substrate is gritty but I used more soil to help establish the roots. And I watered once.

Any and all insights would be appreciated.

ETA. It’s been about 7-9 inches from t5’s.

Pruning questions

When is the better time to prune. When it’s well hydrated or when it’s dry.

That’s my main question but I’d be grateful for any other advice.

Red leaves on my carnosa?

Is this a thing? I’m new to hoyas but I didn’t expect this. Does anyone have any insights to this?

I need advice please

So I’ve had this 2 inch starter anthurium vittarifolium since this past December. Ive since put it in this 3 inch nursery pot with a modified aroid mix.

I’ve put it in higher humidity, didn’t like it. It hasn’t dropped many leaves and just seems to be staying alive but not thriving.

It’s currently on an east facing window shelf. It seems to like it there. It needs watered about every 7-10 days but I always wait till the soil is dry . I haven’t fertilised it.

What else could I be doing? Or am I just impatient. I just want to know if there’s more I could be doing. Or something differently. Finished.

Newbie question

This is my only argyroderma. I’ve had it about 2 weeks. It’s been repotted into a gritty mix, lava rocks, minerals a tiny bit of succulent soil but not watered. It’s a few inches under t5’s and t8’s both for 12+ hours.

My question is. It’s starting to wrinkle. Is this the typical mesembe wrinkling up when it needs water? I can’t tell if it’s actively splitting or not. Inside there are two really tiny bumps. Are they the new leaves? IDK. Any insights would be appreciated. Thank you.

I’m so proud of it

From a 2 inch starter with 2leaves. Now 9 inches tall and 5 leaves with a 6th on its way. I’m so pleased.

Any observations or insights would be welcome.

How wrinkly is too wrinkly?

So I know side wrinkles do not indicate the need to water. You wait for the top to get the pizza crust look.

I honestly can’t say when it started. It can’t have taken long because they’re the first thing I do in the am. Turn on their lights. So I have my eye on them fairly well. So I don’t know how I missed it🤷🏻‍♀️. Maybe I was mostly focusing on the tops. Lesson learned.

One wrinkly side is hard like a shedding leaf. The other is soft, not squishy, the way an outer leaf gets as it’s being absorbed. Is it stuck?

I haven’t watered it in the maybe 4-5 months I’ve had it. Just switched substrate. It was an overwatered HD buy.

I’ve dealt with rot and this is not rot. At least none like I’ve seen. But I’m a newbie and could be wrong 😆.

The top doesn’t look thirsty to me.

Any ideas about what’s going on and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

A surprise. Is it a corm?

So I had two alocasia that had lost all their leaves, obviously. They both were doing fine, till one rotted. I pulled it out and noticed this little guy. Is there a chance that a corm from the rotted one is growing?

I don’t remember which alocasia they are. It’s been months of being in this state. The other one is green and growing.

Isn’t this lovely

Yeah I know these kinds of flats are not uncommon but it’s just so pretty I wanted to share. That patchy spot of my front yard will be beautiful this summer.

A problem with self watering pots

My poor Cebu Blue. Doing so well. I had no idea because I’d,obviously, been neglecting the little things with it. Like checking if it’s outgrown its pot.

I have to cut these beautiful roots! Any advice? How do I do this without killing it?
