Oct 11: start our trip for my NEPA location, enter aroundRoanoke, to Mabry Mill and Groundhog, ending in Fancy Gap, where we have a place till the 14th; on the 12th, either we will spend all the time inside our stay or cumberland knob /music center / Mount Airy, maybe? We will see what the weather calls for, and same for the 13th, depending on the weather: Highland State Park, do the rhododendron trail, maybe see some wild ponies. finger crossed,
Check out the 14th and head further down BR. I know some of it is closed past here; I have planned the detours ( but hoping some of it just opens when I get there; will check before leaving)
We check in ashville lodeg this day till the 16th
But I should be able to get to the Linn Cove Viaduct heading this way and maybe get on Grandfather Mountain if time permits. And check into our resort,
We're skipping Biltmore and doing the Japanese mountain spa in Asheville
Hit up Craggy before we head back north up the highway

I also know it's peeper season, but our real anniversary is when most of the BR is closed for the season, so we're doing it a month ahead. And a tad bit warmer weather, I hope, but we will pack for cold events

I was just complaining to him drive prices and I wish I had bought spares for the inevitable failure Last year in April when i bought my last drives. Today would cost me 4 times as much to replace a single drive. He provided double my current storage instantly
Now I need a bigger server rack. 24u is now to small with everything else
Working on getting one for free from work with my own decomm work.
Now that we moved to cloud sip , our onprem pbx is ewaste and the rack is in decent shape.
Fuck that power bill.

I've driven past this many times and I've no idea what it is or what it's for. There are these two big pipe things coming out of the ground, each capped off. Several inches in diameter. There's several feet of a gap between them. I assume you could remove the caps on then and place another pipe piece between them, but I've no idea what that would accomplish or why you'd do that. I don't recall ever seeing something like this elsewhere.
If it helps, it's right next to an intersection. It is also in front of a tire shop. This is in Utah, United States.

This year is our five year wedding anniversary,
Pre text for our honey moon, we did pigeon Forge Gatlinburg, Smoky Mountain Railroad with a honey moon lodge bed and breakfast in Asheville and then drove up to Blue Ridge from Asheville to the foot of the Shenandoah over two days and then drove back to the northeast. Highway from there this was like 2nd week of November and almost everything was closed but still gorgeous.
This year again, Asheville will be at the end of our trip, but this time I want to start/go further down the Blue Ridge and I’m just trying to gain an idea of where to start October 11th so things along the way till we’re in Asheville by 4pm check-in on the 14 at our lodge outside Asheville. And we will leave on the 16th and drive direct home
I know this can be peeper season. So having to get off to find lodging is fine as long as it doesn’t add too much time .
So what’s good south of Asheville that we can start at.
We have an event on the 10th otherwise I would start then. But I can leave early as 3am on the 11th to get some where o. The br south of Asheville (it’s about a 9-10 hour drive to Asheville for me) my wife can extend the drive another 5 hours I have driven to Orlando in a single day before. So endurance is not a factor

Or they can all work via WiFi but I know that can be a bigger drain on battery for the device
Also, how effective is laser vision I know I’ve made multiple reports with it. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen any violations come out of it.
