I was working at this IT consulting company in Milan for like 4 months as a developer, salary was €3.5k/month and thats what we agreed and signed for.
Then one day my manager calls me saying the company was “reviewing costs” and asked me if I was open to reducing my salary. Like wtf?? We alredy signed the contract por****io 😭
I said no obviously. I wasnt even rude about it, just said no sorry im not accepting a lower salary than the one we agreed on. Am I wrong?
Now every small thing became a problem, random criticsm, passive agressive messages, getting micromanaged for stupid sh. I knew it was coming
Then few weeks later they fired me for “bad performance”
Crazy part is before the salary discussion nobody ever never ever complained about my work
Now I actually have a pending lawsuit with them because this whole thing feels shady as f*** honestly and Inhave no intention of getting sc**med by another corporate. WTH of a world we live in?
If anybody of you is in a lawsuit with a previous employer pls let me know what happened and what did you do bc I don’t really know how to move
EDIT: I would never expect so many people to read this and I appreciate a lot all the advices. I will try to provide more context for what is allowed to me at the current stage of things and will keep you updated.
A couple things I want to reply to:
- Name the company. I can’t and it’s not reasonable to do it now (I don’t even need my lawyer to tell me that would be not smart). Also, there is no problem in posting it on Reddit. My personal view is that If things turns bad against me, probably showing how big could become online may put some pressure on them
- “In Italy it’s impossible to fire…” it’s not. Depends on the type of contract you have. To fire me they needed a valid reason and they made up many. Also I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF of the call of my manager and this complicates everything right? Luckily, I spoke about the call with my lawyer right after to ask him if it was legal (it is not). At the time he contacted the Italian labour union equivalent to understand how to proceed and whether the situation could be considered abusive from a legal standpoint. They haven’t even replied to us yet, but the fact that shortly after that communication I also got fired probably plays in our favor from a timeline perspective (or that’s what we hope) but could also be worth zero. I hope it was easy how you have described it

Amo questa città, amo l’Italia e nonostante nella vita abbia avuto diverse opportunita per andarmene, ho sempre deciso di restare qui. Un po’ per stare vicino ai miei parenti certo ma sopratutto perchè questo è l’ambiente che ho sempre amato di più

Non voglio fare il solito discorso del “si stava meglio prima” perchè ogni generazione dice cosi. Però oggi faccio fatica a riconoscere certi posti
Verona una volta era viva in un altro modo. Oggi il centro è pieno di Airbnb affitti impossibili, ragazzi che non riescono più neanche a trovare una stanza senza spendere mezzo stipendio. Tanti negozi storici hanno chiuso e al loro posto trovi sempre le stesse cose per turisti
E poi il costo della vita. Ormai qualsiasi cosa costa una follia Fare benzina sembra un lusso. Io ormai saranno quarant’anni che pago accise su accise e ancora oggi mi chiedo come sia possibile che nessuno le abbia mai tolte davvero. Ogni volta che faccio il pieno mi viene da bestemmiare mannaggia a loro
La cosa che però mi fa più male sono i giovani. Quando avevamo vent’anni noi sembrava davvero che l’Italia potesse diventare il motore d’Europa. C’era l’idea che studiando e lavorando ci si potesse costruire una vita solida una famiglia una casa
Oggi vedo i miei figli e i figli dei miei amici laureati parlano magari anche tre lingue e prendono 1400 euro al mese quando va bene. E nel frattempo tutto aumenta affitti bollette spesa macchine. E la cosa assurda è che tante volte li vedo quasi rassegnati come se fosse normale cosi
E la sensazione è che il paese si sia fermato. Le uniche infrastrutture che ancora funzionano decentemente sono quelle costruite quando eravamo bambini noi. Negli ultimi anni cosa abbiamo visto? Ponti che crollano opere lasciate a metà città sempre più trascurate. Però le tasse sempre precise quelle arrivano eh
E poi la sicurezza. Questa è una cosa che mi pesa tantissimo da padre e da nonno. Io non sono mai stato una persona paranoica ma oggi quando i miei figli vanno a Milano la sera non sono tranquillo. E sento tantissime persone della mia età dire la stessa cosa
Una volta c’erano quartieri migliori e peggiori certo ma oggi percepisco molta più aggressività in giro. Ragazzini che fanno casino ovunque maranza stazioni diventate invivibili la sera gente che ha paura anche solo di prendere un treno tardi
Anche il modo di vivere delle persone è cambiato tanto. Vedo i ragazzi molto più soli e molto più controllati. Una volta si usciva e basta. Oggi sembra che tutti abbiano paura di essere ripresi giudicati messi online
Anche nelle discoteche si vede. Ai tempi nostri magari si ballava male pure noi però almeno ci si lasciava andare. Oggi tanti ragazzi stanno fermi col telefono in mano oppure fanno i duri tutta la sera. Ho letto pure uno studio che spiegava come la gente ormai si sente sempre osservata e sinceramente secondo me è verissimo. Nessuno osa più fare figure stupide e quindi nessuno si diverte davvero fino in fondo
Poi magari sto solo diventando vecchio io puo anche essere. Però sento davvero che si sia persa leggerezza umanità e speranza nel futuro
E questa è la cosa che mi fa più male dell’Italia di oggi sinceramnte. A volte mi chiedo davvero dove andremo a finire tra 10 o 20 anni perche non riesco piu a riconoscere il paese in cui sono cresciuto. E lo dico con tantissma tristezza davvero
