Took me a year to finish The Talisman but I'm glad I finished it.

It's safe to say that fairy tales just aren't for me. Seeing as this book and Fairy Tale by Stephen King are 2 of my least favorite King novels. I can see why people love this book, looking at you Wolf, but it just wasn't for me. The ending did tug at my heart strings and I'm glad I kept reading and finally finished it.

Is Black House like this book? I will eventually read it but I am in absolutely no rush to. This book made me give up reading for the better part of a year. I miss getting lost in a book and I wish to find that feeling again in my next book whatever that might be.

Spectrum starting offering 2 GB internet in my area, any reason to upgrade?

They are packaging it with a new router if I'm not mistaken that comes with an 8 hour battery back up to avoid down times but that alone tells me that upgrading from 1 to 2 GB isn't worth it. It's $20 more a month.

I already have a pretty good UPS for back ups and I'm not sure anything besides my laptop handles more than 1 GB and most of my smart home devices run on zigbee.

Just curious what y'all think?

Just discovered this sub hope y'all enjoy seeing my 3D printed collection.

Not here to promote, nothing is for sale and I don't take commissions. I just want to share with you what I've made through the years.

  1. In the first picture Jack is just a bit over 6' tall

  2. In the second picture Jack and Sally are 3' tall.

  3. In the third picture I added the Oogie Boys which are a bit shorter then 3'

  4. In the fourth picture is my wearable Jack Skellington helmet

  5. And lastly in the fifth picture is the latest print, a soda cooler cup.

I didn't create any of these designs just printed them and did all the post processing and painting.

Hope y'all enjoy!

Even seen a failure like this?

EVER!!!!*

This was on my Anycubic Kobra X. The white is Matte PLA and the yellow is just PLA. I left it overnight and woke up with the bottom part still attached to the bed plate, the top half on the ground and a see if PLA spaghetti.

I've had things fail before but not continue to printing well while at the same time causing such chaos.

Also I've had absolutely no luck with my Kobra X detecting spaghetti or clogs.

In your opinion is this overpriced? Friend didn't want it because they thought it would be cheaper.

I posted this jigsaw mask (4th image) on my IG (part of a video with other masks I'm working on) and they hit me up asking me how much I wanted for it. I told them I'd give them. A price once it was finished with it I didn't want to sell it like that. I finished the mask and sent them a few pictures of it. They started asking a ton of questions which immediately told me they weren't interested but I answered them all. In the end they said they'd pass and I was ok with that but being friends I asked them why they passed on it and their answer was "I'd thought it would be cheaper than $50, Spirit sells them for less". I didn't want to go into details about how the two don't compare.

I often overprice stuff so people don't ask me to sell them things as this is a hobby. I honestly thought I was giving them a good price for $50 mostly because it's hand painted. Is this overpriced at $50?

Do you think Carl's age doesn't fit him?

I'm listening to book one again after finishing my book 8 reread and a lot of stuff stands out to me about how Carl talks, thinks and carries himself plus all the shows Donut talks about later on seem like shows an older man would watch not someone who's 27. He talks about "the Instagram". Never heard a 27 year old talk about social media like that. He feels like someone who would be closer to his forties or more rather than a 27 year old. Even moving forward a lot of his decisions seem like those of an older man.

Woke up with my silicone sleeve in an elephants foot.

I need a quick replacement of the sleeve and nozzle. Does anyone have any experience with the Amazon ones?

Recommendations for a fan to cool my N100 Intel mini PC fan.

It's averaging 100°F here it's only supposed to get hotter. I'm running a lot on my mini server so I'm hitting 98°C constantly. I expect it to get worse as it gets hotter and was thinking of adding fans to the outside.

Actually I'm open to any recommendations. I would like to keep my server running 24/7

Chime CC affected my credit negatively for the first time.

This is not a posts intended to bash on Chime or anything like that but this is the first time that using my Chime CC has affected my credit score. I use my chime CC for everything and I have it set up to take out the funds immediately so I was surprised to see them report consecutive months of $3-5K usage and actually affecting my credit score and I'm not talking about Credit Karma that goes up and down daily but my Experian FIco score.

This is unfortunately gonna make it me use it less. What has been your experience with the Chime CC?

How did Friday the 13th and subsequent movies become horror classics?

I just recently started watching horror movies since my GF loves them to the point of going to sleep with them playing. I told her that I had never seen the original horror movies like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street etc. and we decided to start with Friday the 13th and honestly I don't understand how it got so many sequels and how Jason became a horror Icon. I know he was barely in the movie and I'm sure there will be more answers in the subsequent movies but how did anyone watch Friday the 13th and say "I want more"?.

Was it a hit when it came out? I will continue to watch the rest of the movies but I just don't get it

Question for those who listen to the audiobooks but also read the books.

Do you feel like you understood and appreciated the story more by actually reading the books and not just reading them? I've listened to every book only twice so far and I'm still catching new stuff every time and when I come to reddit I realize I haven't understood or caught 90% of the references and story lines.

I've listened to all the audio books as stated before and I'm thinking of reading all the books now especially after getting book 8 and being able to read all of the Pineapple Cabaret stuff.

Automations or devices that will help with taking care of my elderly mother?

I have HA set up with remote access as I'm not always home. I have motion sensors ( I want presence sensors but $49.99 seems steep), smart lights, smart plugs that I use to know when her concentrater is on and so I can turn her AC on/off and I have her Dexcom connected so I can check her sugar and temp sensors that are life savers with temps reaching 108° lately.

I have a few window/door sensors also but not sure how to use them since we don't really close door in my house.

Anything you can recommend?

Any plans to fix substitles on TV shows on CCwGTV app?

I thought my substitles were just bad on most of my shows until I used my iPad to watch the same shows and noticed that all the subtitles worked perfectly fine and lined up right.

Movies seem to be fine but damn near every TV show has wonky subtitle timing.

Help me understand the hate for new country music.

I know this is a very touchy subject but I am genuinely looking for a real conversation and opinions here. I'm a 40 year old dude who's been into county music for about 6 years now and some of my favorite songs are newer country songs. I'm slowly finding older songs I like and I'd like to find more but I have also found a ton of "old" country songs that make me understand why it got such a bad rap and why so many people dislike or make fun of country music.

Obviously but all old country songs are great but country music fans act like all new country songs are bad. Yes a ton of it is too "poppy" but even those aren't horrible.

What's the hate for county music and how can you tell me that Austin by Blake Shelton is better than Sangria?

Absolutely no SPOILERS for book 8 but damn I don't feel invested.

Seriously no spoilers.

I got about 4 hours left in the book and I am enjoying it but I definitely don't feel as invested. It feels like it's more shock and awe and moving too damn fast. Still a fan will still relistening but I feel a disconnect. Anyone else?
