P.s I’ve been away 5 years in South America but ventured into town the other day to visit the British Heart Foundation charity shops and WTF is going on with the prices? They had a pair of Topshop jeans for £40!?

Literally defeats the whole point of a charity shop…

Just arrived back after 5 years of living in Latin America and it shocks me to say that I seem to have returned to a better city than the one I grew up in.

The terror I had within me about having to come back for 6 months was bad, but it’s been 1 week and actually the city seems (to me at least) like a lot of development is happening, it seems somewhat cleaner, I don’t see the same scum lurking around everywhere I once did.

I could be wrong but it seems, at least to me, that some changes here have happened for the better.

What did I miss whilst I was away!?

Digital Nomad Visa tax liability in Colombia

Hey all,

Having a bit of a freak out - I had the Colombian Digital Nomad visa twice pretty in 2024 & 2025 - both times pretty much from early January to late December, so corresponding with the year. My income being £10,200 annually both times, from a British company I work remotely for.

**EDIT - £10,200 being around 45 million pesos. And it seems now that amount is below the minimum threshold to even file, let alone pay. So I might be ok after all.

I’ve recently seen some things here and there detailing Digital Nomad visa holders needing to register with DIAN and pay taxes as the visas allow stays in the country over 183 days (after which one becomes a tax resident) - both times I applied for and held the visas, there was absolutely nothing detailed by any part, immigration / government official or correspondence regarding this, and I even asked migración Colombia casually about this and they said don’t worry about it.

My last nomad visa ended in late December last year, 2025 and I have since returned to the county as a tourist for 6 months, and left a few days ago to go back to the UK for 6 months to gather documentation as I am marrying my Colombian partner in January.

To this day, I haven’t seen or received anything regarding the issue, the only contact I’ve had with Colombian taxes is that I was told I needed to pay 136.000 on my way out, although was a little unclear as to what it was for, the receipt they gave me simply says ‘differential tax collection) and I’m freaking out a bit now as like I said, I am due to return to marry my partner.

I’d be grateful if anyone had any insight on this - thank you. 🙏🏼

I’m pretty level headed and rational when it comes to these things - but this is 1000% a veiled threat. What shape do we think the false flag / underhand tactic will be?

A thought on AI, re: Rory’s seeming infatuation with it.

I increasingly feel like these chattering classes are completely out of touch what people think about this topic. As Rory said today ‘people are amazed at how great AI is every 3 months’, (or something to that effect) - it just seems completely at odds from the attitudes I see towards it.

Yes, there elements of it people enjoy - but in some areas? I don’t see it. Nobody is asking for an in-chat AI bot to improve your messages, nobody is asking for AI automated phone lines when contacting utilities, nobody is asking for AI to be the sole arbiter of behaviour online, like Meta has done.

That last point in fact is one which I see now exploding - in October my Instagram account of 14 years was, thanks for terrible AI moderation, deactivated for ‘CSE’ (I’m sure you know what that means). Tens, and now I dare say hundreds of thousands are affected, simply search on google ‘meta ban wave / meta CSE ban wave - all down to faulty AI nobody wants. No real humans to intervene all the way from flagging posts to denying appeals.

The more crap like this happens, and affects more people, the more people are going to become hostile to AI and we’ll have Rory scratching his chin in wonder to how this happened.

Deciding between two meds for Tramadol induced hyperhidrosis

Hello all,

I’m currently living in Colombia as a Brit (so I’m already hot and sweaty) but I recently had an operation which has resulted in me taking Tramadol for a few months and I genuinely cannot express how much it’s affecting my life being soaking wet all the time. I empathise with you all here.

Nearly all medicines here are freely available OTC, however, only two of the medications that I’ve seen spoken about on here are available here:

Cyproheptadine & Oxybutinyn

I’ve looked extensively into the side effects and mechanism of each one, but still, I would be grateful to hear others’ input and any experiences people have had with either.

Thank you!

I never really had an opinion on this guy - but as time goes on I find myself asking who the hell watches him and his apparently infinite channels? The voice, the smarmy tone (and I’m a Brit saying this), and endless hit pieces on places in poorer countries lol

I just don’t see the appeal. Am I missing something?

⚠️‼️ Urgently and genuinely need help ‼️⚠️

Hi all,

Sorry if this post is a bit all over the place - but I had both my lower right 2nd & 3rd molars out around 4 years ago now.

But, over the last few months, a small opening directly behind the remaining 1st molar has been increasing in size, as something as hard as enamel seems to be pushing through. A slightly yellow white at first, transitioning to an orange brown now.

However, I’m 99% sure this isn’t a bone spicule or spur - firstly, it is completely and totally anchored. It doesn’t move even with hard pushing and pulling.

But secondly, and the more curious point - is that it has has the sensation of a tooth. Pressing on it, scraping it, tapping it produces the same sensation as a rotten tooth with high nerve sensitivity.

My jaw feels quite achey, almost like I’ve been sucking on a gobstopper for too long, and it radiates to the surrounding area.

It isn’t a wisdom tooth, the most likely suspect in this case, as I had them all out which can be seen in the X-ray image. In the photo it looks like something akin to soft tissue, but it is genuinely as rock hard as enamel.

So, whatever this is, it’s connected to my blood & nerve supply, surely? Although I assume the colour change means it’s rotting.

Now the weird part, this X ray was taken about a week after I had the last tooth out, yet there seems to be nothing remaining in the socket.

Could it be a remaining portion of live root, still innervated and not visible on the x ray?

One final other road I could go down - is that my upper 2nd molar (The one opposing this thing) has supererupted and when I bite down hard enough, that tooth very much causes trauma to the area. So - could this be a factor? A bony growth / hole in the gym as a consequence of frequent trauma and friction ?

I’m currently travelling in a very very remote place and so it’ll be wound a month or so before I can get to a dentist. So I’d just appreciate anyone’s thoughts lol. I do, however, have access to a pharmacy at which I can buy anything OTC. Wondering if I should try amoxicillin to tie me over until I can see a dentist?

P.s sorry about the poor x ray quality. And I’d really appreciate anyone’s input on this.

Peace x

A mystery appearance behind my 1st molar.

A slightly yellow white at first, transitioning to an orange brown now.

However, this isn’t a bone spur - firstly, the hard mass is absolutely fixed in place and is no longer travelling out of the gum, it is completely and totally non motile. It doesn’t move even with hard pushing and pulling.

But secondly, and the more curious point - is that the hard mass has all the sensation of a tooth. Pressing on it, scraping it, tapping it produces the same sensation as a rotten tooth with high nerve sensitivity.

If anyone’s interested - go look on X and search ‘Instagram bans / suspensions’ and look at the now exploding number of angry people these ban waves affecting. People are openly now bashing Meta and the stock is plummeting.

I’m ashamed to say it, but I’ve only just discovered the whole Dr. David Kelly saga - it’s making it difficult to listen to the podcast (AC) anymore.

I’m not writing this to be argumentative or anything of the like - but rather I would be grateful to hear other people’s opinion on the matter. As I said, I’m ashamed of my own ignorance in that I’ve only just really learned about what happened with Dr David Kelly.

Despite being acutely aware of the mountain of hatred often levied against Alastair, I’ve never really immersed myself in the reasoning.

So, I ask, do other people find this issue difficult? Are the claims against him false? I just struggle to see past it. I’m half Iraqi and yet I’ve always given Alastair the benefit of the doubt, but this to me seems to undermine that.

What’s the deal? Is there credibility in what people accuse him of when it comes to Dr. David Kelly?

I left for Colombia 5 years ago and in a couple of weeks - I’ll be back home for a few months to sort some paperwork for marrying my spouse out here. How different a country am I returning to?

Left on October 10th 2021, it genuinely astounds me how fast it’s gone.

Living and travelling Latin America these past years, I’ve gotten used to happy people, even if they have little, colour, a sense of hope and positivity.

If I’m honest, I’m really dreading it and it’s giving me anxiety - the negativity, the sense of doom which seems to cloud the country, it affects me a lot as I have Aspergers so I suppose in a way, I could do with some words of encouragement here in coming back because it’s genuinely making me feel uneasy.

Hope all is well with you all x

Question for anyone who got banned: did you ever click the ‘download your data’ button, and if so, did you recieve anything?

I did it and received absolutely nothing.
Hurts especially since I'm the only one still alive out of a friendship group of 3 guys and so many memories were on there. It's my own fault for not backing up, but yeah...

Strip clubs are weird. Straight, usually loudly & proudly masculine men sitting and being aroused together is weird - even if the object is a woman.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no issue with it since I’m gay - but the usual clientele of strip clubs somehow doesn’t quite correspond with types of activity that takes place in them. It seems a little homoerotic even with, as I said, the object being a woman.

Sand is constantly produced by nature, yet it doesn’t decay, nor is it readily changed into another form / substance. Why doesn’t it accumulate and increasingly cover the earth?

Thomas Massie concedes the KY-4 congressional race to Ed Gallrein, the most heavily pro-Israel financed race in history - how do you people exist from day to day knowing such unintelligent, feeble voters live amongst you? I’d find it hard to stomach.

It occurred to me today - she would have been a pretty good casting choice for Princess Helaena lol

The blonde hair, the quirkiness dismissed by everyone else only to reveal itself later on as useful / showing her to be wiser than previously thought.

Although I concede she may have been a little old by the time of making HOTD, but yeah, just a passing shower thought lol.

A genuine email my friend received from her HOA today. How the hell do you guys who have them cope with this? Seems the antithesis of what the US is supposed to be about, no?
