Any Cloudray MOPA laser owners here?

Hi all, about to pull the trigger on a JPT MOPA 60w and would love to hear from anyone that already owns one?

I looked at OMG and OmTech as well, but Cloudray seems to have the edge as they have automated autofocus and a nice package but I’ve also dealt with a parts order from Cloudray before for my CO2 laser and they were good through the process.

Cloudray are a bit more expensive so just doing a sanity check before I buy.

Thanks!

Car hire in Rome?

I normally use services like Avis prestige because their have concierge features like meeting you personally and not having to pick up or drop off at the hellish car rental counters, but I need a car for a few days, starting in Rome and dropping off in Florence.

For instance in Napoli, Sixt is the only car company actually in the airport terminal, all the rest you have to take a shuttle and stand in line for an hour. Looking to avoid that.

I’m not picking up from Rome airport, I will be in the center of Rome but then dropping off at Florence airport of that makes a difference.

Can anyone recommend which car hire company is best for this?

It’s official: Argentina was the worst final performance in history

According to the stats:

Only team in history to not have a single shot on goal during regulation time.

Most number of cards: 6 x yellow, 1 x Red

Lowest number of shots on goal for any team that went to extra time.

Second highest number of fouls (25, only beaten by Argentina’s performance in 2022).

Most number of cards for any team during this WC.

Need point and shoot recommendations for tech averse wife

My wife wants a camera as she’s sick of phone pics and how they often don’t represent colors or light well.

It has to be something with virtually no learning curve and simple to operate at least for the taking of photos (I can get the images off it to whatever device as I’m tech savvy).

Literal point and shoot that gives an honest representation of colors, light and faces. Needs to be fairly rugged / not fragile.

Budget: up to $1000 but would like around $500.

Country: USA

Condition: new or nearly new. Open box fine.

Type of Camera: VERY easy to use point and shoot.

Intended use: Vacation photos, some product shots.

If photography; what style: landscape, some portraits, some products

If video what style: Not really important.

What features do you absolutely need: has to be easy to use by someone that can crash any piece of technology instantly. I’m not even joking. She should be a product tester for Apple. She can crash it within 10 seconds. A

Portability: not too bulky, and she had small hands and would like for it to fit in a small bag.

Cameras you're considering: Canon GX7 mk3, Leica Dlux 4

Cameras you already have: some old cannon. It works well but got beaten up.

Notes: Something with a large screen and a viewfinder would be nice, but the overwhelming thing is to have it be very simple and quick to operate - menu diving is a no go. Being able to just power on, point and shoot is essential.

Anyone else sick of seeing Beckham shamelessly hocking everything / anything? (Walkers, Pepsi, Lenovo, Powertools)

Seems so desperate to cash in on anything he can while this current team is making him ever more irrelevant.

Can any lawyers from Kentucky confirm that brain dead = legally dead?

Someone from Kentucky posted stating that in Kentucky being medically diagnosed as brain dead = legally dead, even if your body is being kept alive artificially.

Can anyone actually confirm this?

Just got new LG washer and dryer installed but dishwasher now tripping the breaker?

We just replaced 10 year old washer and dryer with new LG units (professionally installed).

However, when we went to plug everything back in to the GFI outlets (as has always been) and the whirlpool dishwasher which is about 2 years old, now suddenly trips the breaker. The moment I plug it in, spark at the plug and breaker flips.

This has never been an issue before. I inspected the heating element in the dishwasher and it’s looks ok? But maybe I don’t know what it’s supposed to look like?

Could the new units be causing this?

Need to buy a fiber galvo and read loads of comments and reviews but still confused….

I was about to pull the trigger on a 30 or 50w Omtech and they have been great in terms of sales but read some comments here and now second guessing it.

I already have a heavily modified FSL 50w CO2 so have the cutting side of things covered but need something to engrave metal blanks and do higher detail engraving, and doing some 3d depth engraving would be nice too.

I’m a low volume user, don’t need something that is rated for hundreds hours use per month.

Need something that is easy and efficient to get going and doesn’t need a ton of messing about to maintain.

I also work in illustrator to so don’t want a convoluted file process.

Any suggestions?

Need Thriller / Crime Drama recommendations. I’ve seen everything :(

I’m a big fan of the 90’s thrillers like Fallen, Bone Collector, Kiss The Girls, The Game etc. I’ve seen all the scorcese, Mann, Statham, Ritchie movies etc.

I’ve basically run out of movies to watch so hoping that someone can give me something I haven’t seen.

I don’t really want older than 90’s unless it’s really highly rated and no other languages except French or German please.

No comedies. Just, thriller, crime, mystery etc. also love period dramas with a thriller edge like Operation Mincemeat or Gosford Park.

Please halp!

New Imac - Do I hold off or Buy a cheap m4 now?

I need a new imac to replace my 2011 imac (lol) which I've kept alive via OCLP.

Unfortunately it just can't keep up with intensive apps like adobe design and some AI applications, so it's finally time to upgrade.

So do I.....

  1. Immediately snag an Imac m4 with either 16g or 24g ram for about $800 to $1000

  2. Wait for a few months and pay probably $1400 for the new m5?

There's not solid date for the M5 imacs (unless someone knows?) so it could be a longer wait.....

Have any of you early SPCX investors (pre IPO) had your shares convert yet?

I got in at $250bn a couple of years ago via my WM, but the shares are still showing as an un-tickered line item and won't convert until each tranche is released for unlock.

I was wondering if any insiders or early investors here had their shares convert so they can see the actual value in their brokerages?

Brakes suddenly failed, pedal went right to the floor and car kept rolling. Anyone experienced this?

I'm sending the car to my dealer today but per the title, has anyone experienced this?

Lonf version: I was about 1 minute in to my daily commute, got to the bottom of a street to turn on the a major road (6 lanes of traffic) and was going around 5pmh.

I started to turn, pushed the brakes as normal to go theough the turn slowly and join traffic flow, and suddenly the brake pedal went right to the floor and made a sort of crunch noise.

Brakes were doing nothing. I kept rolling and tried to pump the brakes, but nada.

I pushed the pedal hard down (tried to push it through the floor lol) and I got the tiniest bit of bite and the car just stopped enough for me to put it in park. Had I been going any faster it would have been fairly major accident.

I then powered down the car, and was able to drive normally back the 60 seconds to home but it freaked me the fuck out.

I read somewhere this can be an ABS fault?

Does anyone have experience with this?

Need to consolidate 20+ years of images on multiple drives and macs in to one photo library. Advice needed please!

I have three old macs Ranging from 2009 to 2025) and an old PC and some random drives (plus phone backups from over the years) and I need to consolidate it all to one library in my new imac.

There's going to be some duplicates and the merging of older and newer Mac libraries, and then just random PC and Mac folders that need to be added.

I put the question to claude and it suggested buying two apps (PhotoSweeper X and PowerPhotos) and then a bunch of manual searching.

But I'd like to hear from the hive especially if anyone has ever been in this situation?

Any guidance?

Is it worth spending $80 on Crucial Ram to take my 12.1 (mid 2011) Imac up to 32g?

I just installed ventura and it seems to be running OK but I only have 12GB ram (long story but had 2 x 6gb floating about).

It already has a Sammy evo ssd, but is it actually worth spending $80 on 4 x 8gb Crucial sticks on a a machine that's 15 years old?

Will it make a big difference?

Mayoral race will be called for Raman (vs Pratt) in about 5 hours.

Raman is 7k votes behind Pratt and she has been gaining on him by an average of around 13k votes per drop.

When they process the drop this afternoon, she will overtake him by around 5k votes and there’s no coming back for Pratt. The Associated Press will probably be the first to call it around 5pm.

It’s done. He’s out - it’s Raman and Bass in November.

Raman is going to edge out Pratt within the next 4 drops.

The betting markets have just just put her at 93% chance of beating Pratt, as she is now less than 4% away from Pratt (it was over 6% yesterday).

If the drops keep coming in at these levels, the Associated Press is going to call it for her by the beginning of next week.

Does anyone have clear info about when insiders can sell stock?

I was fortunate enough to get in to SpaceX shares two years ago essentially as a perk / thank you via my wealth manager.

I’m getting conflicting info on whether (and when) shares can be sold?

Does anything have specific info on this rule change and which shares can be sold early?

Are there any truly free apps that allow you to pull IG insights data to use in platforms like claude or GPT?

I'm trying to see if there's an app that will allow us to pull IG insights data so we can manage account with better fluency.

I do not want a fully fledged social media management app with a subscription, just a flow of data for internal use so we can tailor what we post etc.

Any suggestions?

I told you all that SPCE was going to create bag holders.

And I got dragged for it by a bunch of people who wanted to extract wealth from you. I warned you institutions were laughing at the opportunity to bone you this week and you didn’t believe me.

The split has now happened (also predicted) and the great sell off means this stock is in freefall.

If you haven’t got out yet and managed to nab a profit, you better cut your losses because this thing is now a race to the (power) bottom.

For those of you who got in and got out, congrats. You rode a meme to profit 🫡

iMac 12.1 (21.5”) with OCLP to Ventura hangs on migration assistant?

I managed to get Ventura installed on my mid 2011 iMac and seems to run OK but I cannot use migration assistant.
iMac has 12gb and a Samsung SSD.

It just hangs on the MA setting up screen. I left it for three hours and still nothing. I then have to force quit as the buttons are greyed out.

Any ideas?

Or should I try Monterey instead?
