Shamed in r/zepbound for not calorie counting, six months with no weight loss.

posting in this sub because I get repeatedly shamed in r/zepbound for expecting the medication to help me lose weight without hardcore calorie counting and dieting.

my story is basically I’ve been on zepbound since January and have titrated from 2.5mg all the way to 15mg, with no weight loss. I’ve actually gained weight.

I’ve barely ever felt the quieting of food noise nor appetite suppression many people describe, at best a marginal increase in my ability to get fuller sooner.

I posted a few times in r/zepbound looking for ideas or others with similar experiences only to get shamed for expecting the medication to work without also hardcore calorie counting and dieting, or you know, what I could be doing to lose weight without the med.

My wife and I had our first baby in March, so of course all the lack of sleep and stress that brings has probably hampered me. But I simply don’t have the bandwith to calorie track on top of taking care of a baby. But I’m the idiot for expecting the zepbound to help me stay in a calorie deficit by default as many people claim it does. It’s pretty defeating to feel like the only one it hasn’t worked for.

For context I exercise almost everyday (weight lifting and cardio).

Anyways, rant over, screw some of the self righteous people in that sub who don’t even actually absorb what I write before acting all high and mighty.

Who are you investing in this year? Golden, Watson or Reed?

the answer is probably Tucker Kraft, but if you had to bet on one of the Green Bay WRs to return starting value, who are you taking?

After titrating up to 15mg, Zepbound has hardly quieted my food noise, suppressed my appetite, nor made eating in a caloric deficit any easier. Am I a non-responder?

I’ve worked all the way up to 15mg and have never really experienced the dramatic reduction in appetite or food noise that so many people describe. I still spend plenty of time thinking about food, cravings still sound good, and eating in a deficit still feels like work.

For example, after a hard workout today, part of my brain was saying “go home and have your planned protein shake,” while the other part was saying “Chipotle sounds amazing.”

The issue is that dieting still feels almost exactly like it did before medication, and I expected the medication to make eating less feel more automatic and less mentally taxing.

For context I am 6’3“ 250lbs. I have hovered around 250 since beginning the medication. My wife and I had our first baby three months ago so my diet, sleep, and stress are definitely worse but I still am exercising consistently.

Has anyone else had this experience at higher doses? Am I just a poor responder? What’s the point of the medication if dieting and losing weight is still just as white-knuckling of calorie counting as it was before?

3 month old suddenly seems to have forgotten how to use a bottle. What are our options if she never takes one?

Our 3-month-old has always breastfed well and is gaining weight just fine, but she essentially refuses or cannot take a bottle at all.

For background, we started introducing a bottle around 3 weeks old. We’ve actually had periods of relative success. A few weeks ago, she even took bottles successfully for 4-5 days in a row, though she’s never taken more than about 2 oz at a time.

Since then, it’s like she forgot how to use a bottle altogether. Most of the time she:

  • Seems distracted or uninterested
  • Pushes the bottle side to side with her tongue
  • Pushes the nipple out of her mouth
  • Gags on the nipple
  • Lets milk spill out the sides of her mouth

We’ve tried just about everything: every bottle and nipple recommended to us, different flows, different feeding positions, mom leaving the house, different times of day, different temperatures, etc.

Last week, a lactation consultant told us she has a minor tongue tie (which we’ve known about since birth), a recessed jaw, and a high palate. Our pediatricians had always reassured us that the tongue tie wasn’t something to worry about. The LC referred us to a physical therapist, craniosacral therapist, and providers who could potentially release the tongue tie.

My wife and I are honestly unsure what to do with all of that, and in the meantime we’re trying to think through practical alternatives. Has anyone had success with things like:

  • Straw cups?
  • Open cup feeding?
  • Sippy cups?
  • Syringe feeding?
  • Anything else that got you through this stage?

Luckily my wife doesn’t have to return to work until the fall, but if she had a typical U.S. maternity leave, she’d already be back at work by now. It feels like some of the professionals we’ve talked to don’t fully appreciate how stressful and impractical “just keep trying” feels when eventually someone else has to feed your baby.

Has anyone been in this situation? Did your baby eventually figure out the bottle, or did you find another solution? We’re feeling pretty stuck and honestly a little scared about what happens if she never takes one.

Help with bottle refusal; what if she never takes one?

Our daughter is 12 weeks old and still refuses a bottle, and we’re honestly starting to panic a bit about what happens if she never takes one.

We’ve been working on this for weeks. We’ve seen our pediatrician multiple times, worked with a lactation consultant, tried what feels like every bottle and nipple on the market (Dr. Brown’s, Lansinoh, Avent, etc.), different positions, different people feeding her, mom out of the house, warmed milk, freshly pumped milk—you name it.

Our lactation consultant believes it’s a mechanical issue. She has a minor tongue tie, a somewhat recessed jaw/chin, and a high palate. We’re now pursuing evaluations with a PT, craniosacral therapist, and a tongue tie specialist to see if any of those factors are contributing.

What I’m struggling to understand is: what if none of this works?

Thankfully my wife is off work until September, but most parents in our situation would have had to return to work already. How do people send a baby like this to daycare? How do you ever leave the house for more than a couple of hours? How does a baby who won’t take a bottle eventually get fed by anyone other than mom?

Has anyone had a baby who completely refused bottles at 12 weeks and eventually figured it out? What ended up being the solution? Or did your child just never really take a bottle and somehow transition another way?

We’re looking for both success stories and realistic expectations because right now it feels like our entire family’s ability to function depends on solving this.

Anybody buy into the connection between tongue tie and fussiness?

we had a lactation consultant visit us and our 12 week old daughter due to issues taking the bottle and the consultant said she is having mechanical issues caused by a minor tongue tie and a recessed jaw.

Anyways she recommended we see someone about getting her tie released. and now we’re reading all about the connections(?) between a tie and tension, fussiness and general unhappiness in babies. Is this a legit?

Our girl was suuuper fussy weeks 4-8 but has improved in a lot of ways. Now we’re questioning if everything could have been solved with getting her tie fixed earlier on, or if we’re wasting our time and money exploring this option now.

The pediatrician has always said her tie was never a concern as she gains weight fine, but the consultant said that docs are not trained to truly recognize these patterns and basically only care about the weight gain.

They also recommended we visit a CranioSacral Practitioner for basically baby PT. This specialist also reiterated the connections between tie and whole host of issues.

It’s all making our heads spin. thoughts?

Bottle feeding help? (12 week old)

Our 12 week old daughter has never had a problem breast feeding but we’ve struggle mightily with the bottle. We’ve tried Nuk, Phillips, Lasinoh, Evenflo, Dr Brown, and now are on Pigeon. With most we’ve had some successes but it’s always super inconsistent and my wife still feels at a point where she cannot leave her for more than a a couple hours.

Today we met with a lactation consultant who assessed her mouth and told us she has a high and narrow pallet, and a recessed jaw and that her tongue tie all could be the reason she doesn’t or can’t take the bottle’s nipples. We’ve known about the jaw and tongue tie but the pediatrician has always assured us it isn’t major enough to warrant surgery as she is breast feeding and gaining weight just fine.

The consultant sent us referrals for body work (OT, and chiropractic) as well as dental offices/ENT to potentially get the tongue tie released. We just now really learned that even if the tie isn’t huge, it still can be holding back their jaw.

Eventually my wife will have to go back to work so obviously we need a path towards bottles working consistently.

Anyone have experience with these options or a similar journey as ours with good outcomes? Thanks in advance.

How to get my baby to not hate leaving the house? (11 week old)

our 11 week old hates leaving the house. She hates the car seat. She hates the stroller bassinet. She hates the baby carrier. The only place she is content is in her room with all her comforts.

it would be a dream if we could find a way to get her to sleep away from home, but she just won’t do it no matter how tired she is. At this point I’m just looking for a way to get her not to scream whenever we go outside.

my wife is feeling super trapped at home. Just recently she tried to go to a mom meet-up at the park and had to leave within 10 minutes as our baby started crying while all the other babies laid quietly and slept. She can’t even walk 10 minutes to and from the store without crying the whole time.

Has anyone else dealt with the baby who is not content outside of the home at all? any tips or tricks on how to make her more content?
