Inertia on mouse gyro (dualsense) possible?

SOLVED: the option "momentum" is available as long as you select the "gyro to mouse" option instead of "mouse" in steam input.

Many of you will know the "trackball" experience when using the trackpads of steamcontroller 1/2 or steamdeck, when set to joystick mouse or mouse input.

I was trying to do the same with the gyro on dualsense edge but I cannot. I find only acceleration. Is there a way?

I know it might seem "weird" but I wanted to try it out.

What is cool about the trackball experience is that you input a small amount of movement and depending on the friction/inertia value, it will keep that movement (during deceleration) more or less time.

With the controller gyro imagine a "flick" of the controller would initiate the movement, depending on resistance it will end sooner depending how fast / long you flicked. The movement could still be precisely managed when aiming with small movements.

Anyway you understand the point...is there a way to set it like that? Maybe I am using the wrong option (I only ever used mouse and mouse joystick inputs for the gyro...)?

p.s. to be even more precise, I wanted to test such behaviour out for those instances where you want a fast 180 degree turn: if 1:1 gyro you would need to turn the controller quite a lot, or have ratcheting, but with the trackball experience you would only need a very short and quick flick to have the camera turn 180 degrees. Another alternative would be flick stick but I don't want it. Another alternative is high acceleration but it becomes a bit harder to manage and wanted to try something else.

I feel bad for not loving the new Steam Controller as much as I wanted

I am a Steam controller aficionado, I started already back then with the first SC (pictured above). I was among the few that loved the controller, while most of the public didn't understand it (especially because one analog stick was "missing"). I was also not new to gyroscope...my Sidewinder freestyle pro had it in the late 90s and was driving and riding Motocross Madness with it, so I felt at home with the Steam Controller right away.

Fast forward a few years later, I abandoned it in favour of a Nacon dualshock 4 because the gyroscope mouse input of the SC1 was not smooth enough for higher framerates (definitely noticeable from 100 fps already).

Fast forward a bit later, I got addicted to the nice haptics and adaptive triggers of the Dualsense. Not only for native games, but also through custom profiles and adaptation. Not to mention it is very easy to get equivalent touch inputs through conductive tape mods (capacitive stick, dualpakka mod etc.), including "grip touch sensor" with the right routing.

That leaves the only advantage of the steam controller 2 to the additional right trackpad and not much else, sadly.

To be fair, the Dualsense Edge has a trackpad as well...usable in windows and if one want (not very ergonomically) in game as well (with kind of a claw grip, it is doable during exploration parts in game).

Now I have a brand new Steam Controller 2 without much motivation to use it and would like to brainstorm it a little bit and see how people with other controllers relate to the steam controller.

I don't think I am going to sell it because Steam doesn't ship/sell to my country and having it delivered to another country (with another person's account) was indeed a lot of effort on my part and the day I regret selling the Steam Controller 2 will be hard to get my hands on p.another one, so I will definitely keep it for the moment.

P.S. I know the SC2 has hall effect triggers and TMR sticks, but I would like to leave the focus on the practical use of the controller and not necessarily on the pure technical aspects (never had stickdrift in my life on any controller luckily).

Come ho fatto a vivere senza?

Uscito in sordina?

How often do you notice vertical banding?

This is a newly replaced Alienware (my previous one had a bit of burn in but it was mostly my fault though it was unexpected).

While gaming (SDR or HDR doesn't matter) many times I find myself staring at the banding it's just distracting.

I am wondering how often it happens. It is visible only on darker areas and specifically when panning camera.

Even in the video is hard to tell because of compression but should be noticeable. Even if not, I am curious how many users actually notice this and how often and when is it to be considered a problem.

I don't think I ever noticed banding on my old C3 55" or my newly acquired C5 77" but I am not gaming that much on the TV.

Numer 375: Star Wars Outlaws

I know this game was very much hated but I liked every moment of it. The DLCs are fine...they are needed for the 100% and they are nothing crazy (I really enjoyed the whole poker game thing similar to casino royale), I'd say the base game is better than the DLC.

The only tedious achievement was completing 40 contracts, during my playtime I almost didn't do any of them so getting to 40 (without in game counter) was not the funniest experience.

p.s. I see now a typo in the post title - can't edit it out

[Question] Replacement strap?

I've been googling for straps for this Seiko and I also found some threads here with cool pictures and a couple names that sadly are US shops. Any good shop in europe for a nato strap or a nylon strap? I was going to choose something olive / dark green with matte grey metal. Basically the same as this stock one but different color and hopefully a bit softer (this one is stiff). I am also considering aliexpress honestly, I don't know how you feel about that.

P. S. I don't know my model exactly, it was a gift many years ago I'm going to google what exact model it is just so I know.

A nice break from xreal glasses

Decided for this trip to leave the laptop at home.

Foldable keyboard from aliexpress, usb C monitor 2560x1200 120Hz (Chinese as well) with passthrough charging possible, no battery or power adapter needed, HDR capable.

Both items might be listed with different brand names on the various sites...my screen is branded "YODOIT" and I usually have it in portrait on my home desk setup as a second screen on the side.

Testing out the steam controller, as a purist since steam controller 1 release I must say I might have been expecting more, but I will test everything better once I am back home.

p.s. the steam controller is there only because I picked it up in the trip i'm ccurrently one, otherwise I don't really carry an extra controller, I would just use the deck controls.

I remember it was really not well received. I got it some time ago, I am about 50 hours in, finishing up the last achievements and one of the two DLCs.

Incredible graphics (maxed out), good framepace on PC, very nice (and not dispersive) exploration, definitely decent stealth mechanics, skills expansion etc.

Super immersive, almost at Rockstar levels. Super nostalgic for fans of the series. Kay Vess is a good original character and perfectly fits in, I like her. Nix is one of the best sidekicks ever seen in an action game.

Not regretting one cent, and I'll defend it all the way.

p.s. I decided to add the same pictures separately in the comments to avoid the stronger Reddit compression, I hated seeing them so blurry in my post.

I use Plex on my mini PC Windows. To avoid certain troubles, I like to have the server reboot every sunday night (sunday to monday) at 3:00 AM

The result was that every monday morning I had to log the user back in, so that Plex server would start properly (the server could otherwise not be reached).

I scheduled a task to run the Plex server before user login. It worked (the server was reachable without needing to log the user in). The next trouble was that the files were not reachable.

Reason: the libraries are on the NAS and the NAS on the plex server (windows) was mapped with a letter, and such path was used to create the libraries back then. After reboot, the scheduled task had no access to the mapped network drive, which was re-set by windows.

Now I re-path(ed) the libraries on the server with the network connection (NAS hostname and folder path), so that they should stay reachable without user login (the network path is mapped in windows).

I notice the Plex server is re-detecting all the intros of the series...some series are also mismatched and with the wrong watch status.

Could I have prevented this (other than creating the libraries from the start with network path instead of a mounted letter network drive)?

It is not a lot of trouble for me to re-match the wrong series and set the correct watch status (this one surprised me).
