Controversial topic here.

Can we stop shaming and getting mad at people for buying chinese ebikes? Some people dont have the money to buy a $1k+ ebike. Yes. Some are bad. Yes. Some are template bikes but does that mean you should shame someone for what they ride? No. We all ride ebikes here. That's what should matter.

E-bike stigma

Was unlocking my e-bike from the bike rack getting ready to head home from classes when two other people showed up to lock their regular bikes. One of them looked at my bike and said “What’re you riding? You need to get something analog. Work those quads!” Felt pretty looked down upon. I’d be a little more understanding if I was a some sort of cycling group ride but I was just heading home from campus. Is this type of interaction common?

I bought this e-bike recently to commute to work and my college classes, specifically because I live in a pretty mountainous area and the hills can be pretty tough for me. It’s more meant to replace car trips than for fitness. Logically it makes sense for my use case but now anytime I go somewhere with it I feel judged not just by drivers but other people on bikes.

Front basket mount breaking. Anyone know where I can get a replacement?

My front basket mount has cracks on both supports. Anyone know where I can buy a replacement? I got these from Lectric 4 years ago and they changed the design to something I don't want.

Motorcycle riders doing the fake pedal thing

Anyone had them do this? I just laugh and like to assume they are just being silly rather than malicious

It seems pretty common for motorcycle riders who pass you to do it though where they pretend to air pedal lol

An alignment chart for E-bikes, to kickstart a hopefully healthy discourse

An observation ive made about ebike community.

This is in no way meant to hurt anyone's feelings or meant to be offensive its just an observation ive made being new to the community. It is meant to spark conversation and debate not start a war so please keep that in mind while reading.

The only thing ive learned over all else in this community is everyone likes to defend artificially boosted prices to avoid any inconvenience that may come. All of them dog on amazon bikes and stuff but there are plenty of content creators out there proving these people wrong. Also as far as local.shops not working on them sounds completely stupid. No other industry does that.

Ya it requires research and work to make the proper purchase. But the clear racism or culture superiority or whatever you wanna call it is insane in the ebike community. Like 90 percent of the complaints are: you might have to work on your own bike😭😭😭😭😭, You have to do the leg work and find parts 😭😭😭😭. Like do people realize a lot of people buying this stuff are coming from way worse transportation options? Or maybe coming from a beater car that has drained the account over and over so spending like 800 bucks over a course of a few months replacing parts with better parts is better financially than 2000 dollars everytime you go to the mechanic?

Not to mention people be telling people to drop 2-5k on first ebike!!! Like these people dont even know if they are gonna like it or not why spend that much money? Or the best part do people ever think if people using it for transportation instead of walking if they wanted to spend that much they would just put a down payment on a car? Or the artificial inflation US is having right now on everything?

Im just saying it makes a lot of people in this community seem like spoiled rich kids or children with no responsibilities other than spending money.

Like someone's feet could be medically falling apart cause they walk to work everyday and everyone in this group be like buy this bike for 10 grand!!!! Like live in real life not this fantasy land people have cooked up in dreams.

Like idk I see all these people pushing everything but certain brands or nations through the dirt for ebikes and every comment or video I see on these bikes by people who actually bought some of them instead of sit at home playing keyboard warrior says otherwise.

Not to mention united staes bikes have no power at all and a bunch of bs extra features and modes no one who rides up a moutin or live in areas like that would ever use.

Or this bike has a GPS!!!! Dude my phone has a GPS I DONT CARE. Like most people just want a bike that functions as a bike and goes vroom vroom they dont care about smart control or gps guidance or any of that fancy crap. Same thing Nissan proved with cars and trucks by making a line of just cars and trucks no fancy BS and they start at like 15 20k like the third of the price of brand new cars and trucks. It's literally all those features that make bikes 2-7k and this community eats it up like candy.

The E-Moto Backlash Is Hurting All E-Bike Riders

The truth is that the people constantly bitching about e motos are the ones who helped ruin it for everyone, including normal Class 1 through 3 riders. If people had stopped running to regulators and cops every chance they got, we probably wouldn't be dealing with half these restrictions. Now we have politicians writing rules they don't fully understand and cops trying to enforce laws they barely understand. A few reckless riders are definitely a problem, SURE, but the nonstop outrage and calls for crackdowns brought far more attention and regulation to the entire community than the average e moto rider ever did. Thoughts, comments, disagreements?

Rant: E-moto riflders, be prepared to be called out on your idiocy

/old man rant mode on

While rising my class 1 to work this morning, I was waiting at a red light when some young punk on his "e-bike" decided this would be a great time to hot dog in the middle of the intersection.

Edit to clarify: He went into an intersection that is essentially a freeway offramp to do seat stands while cross traffic still had a green light.

He seemed genuinely surprised by and old.guy in a hi-viz vest giving him shit, but I am tired of having to worry about needing to get a plate or lower speed limits for my ride because of idiots like him.

Just remember, stupid behavior like that will be the reason the rest of us can't have nice things anymore.

This is how much gear I wear for 40mph

I gets so hot here I can only sustain pedaling at 40mph for a few minutes but it still feels comfy at 30 and I've fallen before, shit hurts! Suit up

Hit a nail, think the tire okay with kist a new tube?

Hit a nail on my ride home yesterday. Think the tire will be okay with just replacing the tube?

Thanks
