Tips for side sleeping with the Resmed F40 pillow mask? (re: leaks)

I've switched from the F20 to the F40 and I really like the F40.

However, I'm a side sleeper and I'm finding that it leaks (around the sides of my nose) at night when I toss and turn. Strangely enough this also happened with the F20.

I did try the F30 at my DME a couple of weeks ago but it was too loud when breathing and it bothered me.

Does anybody have any tips?

Best light switch for Hue smart bulbs? (re: Z-Wave Scene Controller vs Lutron Aurora dimmer)

I've just finished my basement and have a lot of Hue Slim Downlights (recessed lights).

There are two options I'm considering:

  1. Zooz Z-Wave Scene controller

This has 4 small and 1 large button so I can assign dedicate scenes or brightness to each button (through Home Assistant -> Hue Bridge). The disadvantage is that it's difficult to implement "press and hold" dimming.

  1. Lutron Aurora

These connect directly to the Hue Bridge (or lights?) using Zigbee so it doesn't depend on Home Assistant, etc. They support multi-tap actions and dimming by turning the dial.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I've tried using Shelly devices but my electrical boxes are just too filled and the cost of them plus a momentary switch is the same as the other options and it still depends on Home Assistant.

Need advice on minisplit location in basement

I’d like to get a minisplit for my finished basement but I need some advice.

The finished portion of the basement is about 150 sqft. office and 350 sqft. rec room seperated by a staircase/landing.

I’ve outlined the only two locations for the indoor unit that will work.

I think I’d prefer the back wall location but I’m not sure if that will get any airflow to the office side of the basement.

The sidewall location will be under the ductwork and will have air blowing at eye-level.

How to prepare deck to re-stain? Anything besides pressure wash and light sanding?

I need to re-stain my deck and I purchased BEHR Premium Waterproofing Stain & Sealer (solid color).

The guys at the paint store said to just pressure wash and sand the deck but on the container it says to use BEHR No. 64 Wood Stain & Finish Stripper followed by BEHR No. 63 All-In-One Wood Cleaner.

What do I need to do?

Pictures: https://imgur.com/a/4MMOfBu

I already pressure washed the deck and used my orbital sander with 60 grit paper but it didn’t seem to do a lot.

Thanks for any advice

Does this F20 fit me? My nose can’t breath and is squished?

I’m new to CPAP (or APAP in my case) and I was given a Resmed F20 AirTouch mask (large).

I can’t use a nasal pillow because I have a deviated septum and can’t breath well through my nose. I also wear a breathrite strip at night to help me.

However, I’m getting leaking at the top of the mask and my nose is squished.

Can anybody take a look at these pictures and tell me what they think? Can anybody give me advice on a different mask if I need one?

Should I replay BOTW or play TOTK?

I’ve played (and beaten) BOTW but never played TOTK.

I’m thinking about either replaying BOTW or buying TOTK. TOTK looks interesting but I’m not interested in the building mechanic. How much building is required in the game and does it require complicated designs, etc?

Thanks for any advice :)

FPS games with upgrades and not much story? (besides Doom)

Are there any FPS games with upgrades but not much story or dialogue?

I've played the Doom games (2016, Eternal, Dark Ages) but I'm looking for something else. I saw in other threads people mentioned Metro or Outer Worlds maybe?

What does my deck need? Painting or staining? Replace boards?

I'm not familiar with deck maintenance and we moved into a house with a deck that either needs painting, staining, and/or board replacement.

Here are some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/YsfoyXg

Can this be stained? It looks like it was painted so I'm assuming it needs paint and can't be stained?

Do I need dehumidifier + A/C to remove humidity from my basement? (re: 72F, 60% humidity)

I finished part of my basement last year but it doesn’t have vents connected to my forced air or ac.

The basement is staying around 72F this summer even when it’s 90F outside, but the humidity is around 55% - 60% and the basement smells like drywall/paint, etc.

I’m running a dehumidifier (Midea cube) and it works great but it heats up the basement to 78F.

I can install a window a/c (the basement is 50% above/below grade with 2 windows) but it’s already 72F so it would only be used to offset the dehumidifier.

Can anybody give me any advice?

AirFit F20 - Feels like it's ballooning or inflating/deflating on my face? (re: new CPAP user)

I've been diagnosed with an AHI of 5 (but "worse on my back") and a few years ago it was AHI 15 (and "worse on my back again") but just got a CPAP last week.

It's a ResMed AirSense 11 + F20 mask. Prescription is 5-15 (auto) and EPR 3.

The mask is mostly comfortable but it leaks air near my nose and requires a lot of adjustment to stop it.

The biggest problem though is that it feels like the mask is "breathing" or "ballooning" on my face. The incoming pressure feels like the mask balloons and then when I exhale it releases the pressure.

I've searched (and tried a few AI questions) and I increased it to 7-15 with EPR 3 but it's not helping.

It's been a week and it takes over an hour to fall asleep -- can anybody give me any advice?

Here is some data: https://sleephq.com/public/753ab36c-322b-4b8b-b88f-e5e9a9bd1a0b

Thanks SO MUCH for any help!

How to prevent window a/c from being pushed/pulled to break into home?

I'd like to install a window a/c unit and not have to drill into the window itself.

I can secure the lower sash by using a vertical 2x4 but I can't think of any method (besides screwing the a/c into the window as instructed) to prevent it from being pushed/pulled?

First night with CPAP went great but I have a few questions

I was diagnosed with mild/moderate sleep apnea with an AHI of ~15 @ 3% but only ~5 @ 4%. (which makes me question if I really needed it? …but I am tired all the time and overweight so I guess I did?)

The Resmed AirSense 11 is programmed to auto 5-15.

The app shows 2.9 events/hour and 20 mask off for last night.

Does that mean 2.9 events/hour got past the CPAP or that my body only “tried” to have 2.9 events/hour? (re: my ~15 or ~5/hour from testing)

Also, why does it show 20 mask off? I did wake up a couple of times but I only removed the mask maybe twice. However, I did have to adjust it a bit. The Mask Seal says “Good” in the app.

Does anybody have an umbrella or chairs? Do people flying in trade them with other instead of throwing them out?

We are flying to Myrtle Beach next week and we obviously can't pack beach chair or umbrellas but I'm guessing that others have this same problem.

Do most people flying into town just rent them from the beach?

Is there an umbrella or chair swap? I'm guessing that others might buy some when they arrive and then either throw them out or figure out somebody to give them to?

How to install splice existing wire and install junction box? (re: no extra slack?)

Are there any tips or tricks for splicing an existing electrical wire that doesn't have much slack?

(ie. I need to install a junction box and slice the wire to add an additional wire to the circuit)

Can I plumb an outdoor spigot using 90 degree elbows? (re: house on a hill)

My house is located on a hill and my driveway is on the high side of the hill.

I want to install a spigot to wash my car (etc) but I would need the following:

  1. Spigot can't insert past drywall cavity (because it would be inside family room)
  2. Spigot needs immediately 90 degree elbow after entering drywall cavity.
  3. Spigot travels down drywall cavity into basement crawl space.
  4. Spigot needs another 90 degree elbow to transition into basement.

Is this possible?

What are some of the best VR documentary/historical experiences?

I remember “playing” the Apollo 11 VR simulation and it was fantastic.

What are some other good VR experiences like that? (ie. documentary style or historical, etc)

I’m not too interested in VR games at the moment (but I might try Half-Life Alyx in the near future). Also, I’m using a Quest 3 but have a powerful desktop gaming PC to stream from.

Multiplayer popular games that are fun with random people? (re: middle-age dads)

I'm a middle-age dad and don't have a core group of friends that I can play online games with so I'm looking for some suggestions that are fun to play with just random people online.

There are plenty of competitive first person shooters (and some fun cooperative ones like Helldivers 2 and Deep Rock Galactic) but I'm looking for something different.

I always think back to the Dark Age of Camelot public quests (or was it Warhammer Online??) that had these public quests that would appear and you would have 10-20 people join and all help to defeat the boss. It seems like nothing like that exists any longer?

I'm interested in almost anything but I'd like it to be popular (easy to find games) and fun with random people ....
