subject - Grievance Regarding Ineligible PCB Students Appearing in JEE Main – Request for Policy Correction
content -
"Respected Sir/Ma'am,
I am writing this mail to bring to your kind attention a serious and ongoing policy concern regarding the JEE (Main) examination conducted by NTA, which is causing significant harm to genuine PCM stream engineering aspirants across India.
THE ISSUE:
A large number of students from the PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) stream, who have not studied Mathematics as a core subject in Class 11 and 12, are registering for and appearing in JEE (Main) every year. Since they are PCB students, they are neither eligible for B.Tech/B.E. admissions through JEE Main nor eligible to appear in JEE Advanced. Their sole purpose of appearing in JEE Main is to use it as a mock test to gauge their competitive exam preparation, primarily for NEET.
HARM CAUSED TO GENUINE CANDIDATES:
The JEE Advanced qualifying cutoff is determined based on the top percentile of the total JEE Main candidate pool. When a large number of ineligible PCB candidates appear in JEE Main, the total pool inflates artificially. This results in:
- An unjustified and artificial rise in the JEE Advanced qualifying cutoff/percentile.
- Genuine and sincere PCM students being pushed below the cutoff despite their hard work and merit.
- Unfair denial of opportunity to thousands of rightful engineering aspirants every year.
This defeats the very purpose of JEE Main as a gateway to engineering admissions and IIT qualification.
REQUESTED CORRECTIVE ACTIONS:
I respectfully urge NTA to consider the following policy corrections:
Make Mathematics as a mandatory and verified subject at the JEE Main registration stage. Only students with Mathematics as a core subject (PCM stream) should be allowed to register for the B.E./B.Tech paper.
Cross-verify the applicant's Class 11/12 stream and subject details with CBSE/State Board records during the registration or verification process.
Compute the JEE Advanced qualifying percentile/cutoff only from the pool of candidates who are actually eligible for B.Tech/B.E. admissions, thereby excluding PCB-only students from the cutoff calculation.
Issue a public advisory clarifying that JEE Main is intended for engineering admission seekers only, and discourage its misuse as a mock test platform by ineligible candidates.
CONCLUSION:
I sincerely hope that NTA will take cognizance of this genuine and widespread concern affecting lakhs of meritorious engineering aspirants. I request that this matter be reviewed seriously and appropriate policy measures be implemented before the next JEE (Main) examination cycle.
I am also filing this grievance on the CPGRAMS portal under the Ministry of Higher Education for official record.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,"

content - "Respected Sir/Ma'am,
I wish to raise a serious policy concern regarding JEE Main examination conducted by NTA.
ISSUE: A large number of PCB stream students (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) who have not studied Mathematics as a core subject are registering and appearing in JEE Main solely as a mock test for practice. Since they are PCB students, they cannot get admission in any B.Tech/B.E. college through JEE Main & are ineligible for JEE Advanced. They appear only to check their exam performance.
HARM CAUSED: JEE Advanced qualification is based on top percentile cutoff from JEE Main total candidates. When ineligible PCB students appear in large numbers, the total candidate pool inflates artificially. This raises the JEE Advanced cutoff unfairly, and genuine PCM students who have prepared sincerely for engineering admissions get excluded from JEE Advanced despite their merit.
REQUESTS:
- Allow only PCM students (with Mathematics as core subject) to register for JEE Main B.E./B.Tech paper.
- Verify stream details from CBSE/State Board records at registration stage.
- Calculate JEE Advanced cutoff percentile only from eligible PCM candidates pool.
This issue affects thousands of genuine engineering aspirants every year. I request NTA to take corrective policy action at the earliest.
Thank you."
question for those who sat in 2025 counselling
i am only targetting jee mains people who once passed 12th from one board but then gave board again from another board to reach 75% criteria , which board's info did you fill in the jee mains form and do they ask for previous marksheet during counselling in josaaa? like kuch issue toh nahi hoga na if someone has two marksheets of passed 12th from two another boards , as i gave 12th in 2025 passed cbse then in 2026 improvement cbse in all the subs but didnt got 75 %
is there anyone who passed class 12 from other board then passed from nios 12 as fresh candidate again?
i have doubt about counselling for colleges through jee mains , like do they ask about previous marksheets too? i am going to give nios as fresh candidate by showing 10th as last passing year
so in this module there are these exercises , O1 , O2 , S1 , S2 . please tell me which one is made for jee mains , like as you saw in title i need to cover whole range from easy to tough but only jee mains level tough
