A new wild fire is filling the skies of Sonoma and Marin counties with smoke. There are mandatory evacuations in place with the possibility of more to came. Air quality is dangerous in many places in the North Bay. Follow the updates on Watch Duty app or CalFire.

I was so intrigued by the premise of a recent televised episode that was all bout comparing folks who hear lyrics in music and others who hear same music but don’t really hear the lyrics. There was no real resolution or explanation. They interviewed a neuroscientist who was unable to design an experiment that differentiated the two phenomena. Very drawn out and so much boring filler talk. Waste of time and very frustrating. Vox science podcasts are so awful now.

Academy of Sciences lays off entire department of planetarium artists and filmmakers

We have new neighbors next door. One of them sits on his front porch and smokes very stinky cigarillos and cigarettes. Problem is, our houses are very close and our bedroom and bathroom windows are about 12-14 feet away from where he smokes. It’s not a shared residence situation. We each have our own external walls and a 6 foot wooden fence between us. Municipal code says there needs to be 25 feet minimum between a non smoking area and the smoker.
Anyone have any insight as to if this applies in our situation?
They also leave on their extremely bright and obnoxious yard lights (4 inches the back and 4 in the front, non shaded) on all night, every night.
They are renting so I’m hoping they’ll move soon.
